What rumours were spread about you by the other girls and how did you deal with it?
My dancer friend doesn't want to make an account on here, so I thought I would solicit advice on her behalf. She's quiet, doesn't have too many other dancer friends ITC, and is a clean hustler. She's very sensitive and it gets her down when she hears the other girls talking smack about her. She wants to stay in the biz, but this behaviour discourages her. I told her to just ignore, but there might be other suggestions that I haven't thought about.
Any advice?

...rumours went around the club that I was a "dirty" dancer...upon hearing this my friend cracked up laughing...because she'd. "never heard anything more ridiculous"! If girls have to justify in their own minds why one girl is doing well and they are not by making things up, well points to them for being "creative" I guess. Tell your friend to ignore it, and, if the rumours were true and serious-management would have overheard and spoken to her about it already!

She can't be this sensitive while working in the industry. She needs to toughen up and worry about her money and only people that matters. Tell her to ask herself if it's really worth caring about.

When I very first started I had a rumor spread about me that I was "bulimic" because I was very very thin when I first started. I just laughed at it and ignored it and eventually, everyone else thought it was funny that someone would even make that up about me.
You can't care what other girls think in this industry. They are competing with you for money so keep in mind people are going to try to do cruel things to bring you down purposefully. It's bound to happen when you throw a bunch of girls in one building all competing for one thing. She needs to let it go and move on.

Tell her to grow a pair or get the fuck out. Sorry to be harsh but this isn't a business for the weak.

She should take it as a compliment - other dancers often talk shit about the girls making money!

What she said. If your friends' haters were doing well financially and had fulfilling lives, they would care less about what your friend said, did, wore, etc.. If they make up rumors and lies, they have no lives and are really envious of her. Take it as a compliment and as motivation to be as successful, happy, and hot as she can so the haters see they don't affect her.

Thanks everyone! I showed her the posts and she said she's just going to tough it out and ignore it. I really wish that there were more like minded, intelligent women like you guys in this industry, it would make this job a lot easier and more fun.
