CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
"As you may be aware, starting May 24, 2013, MasterCard will be implementing an annual fee of $500 as a requirement for accepting payments on what MasterCard deems as high-risk sales. This fee will be applicable to your online business, and as your trusted e-commerce platform, we need to make you aware of a couple of key items.
- CCBill is a MasterCard Paymenit Facilitator; meaning we will process MasterCard sales, provided the annual fee is paid
- To keep processing with MasterCard, you can submit your payment here, or contact CCBill Contract Administration at [email protected] to set up the first $500 annual payment
- If you do not contact Contract Administration prior to May 24, you will NO LONGER be able to process MasterCard payments through CCBill
Boooooo :(

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
I'm not surprised. Maybe try Zombaio?

Because they are one of the longest running adult payment processors, and they know they can capitalize on this.
In addition, Mastercard forced Paypal to pay a higher fee back in March of this year.

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
so thats 500 to process mastercard and another 700 to process visa over a grand in start up fees to save their asses we'll never see again?
-
Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
it's not just ccbill, most of the payment systems (that I've read about, at least) that charge the visa fee are now adding on the mastercard fee. I'm honestly surprised it took this long for ccbill to announce the new mastercard fee to individual account holders

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
It kind of fucked up because sexworkers have no other options, while small businesses have all these cool new options. Small businesses can now take credit card payments using their cell phone or ipad and an external device to swipe the card (), but we can't do that because 1.) we are deemed a high risk business so its not allowed, and 2.) we typically don't meet our customers in person (online only). So that sucks for us.
However, it is REALLY good for the economy! I honestly believe the only way we will ever make it out of this recession is if more people start their own small businesses & trades, and tools like the link above make it really easy to do so.

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
Yeah, when I was out earlier and checking email from my phone, I got that dreaded e-mail about the fee...smh.
@Snowy0Star: I thought the fee for Visa is $750?
-
Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
Just looked on their site and it is $750 for visa. Are these fee's just for processing? Like do they cover chargebacks or anything like that?

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
The one time fee for Visa is $700 (I think) and the yearly charge for accepting Visa is $500. So, $1700 just to start accepting Visa & MC right off the bat.
Additionally, CCBill is very, very user unfriendly, their system is buggy, and their payout is pretty slow. Their customer service is great, and I love that they're open 24/7, but even before this happened I decided to leave CCBill. Their processing fees just don't offset how complicated, buggy, and annoying their website software is.

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
I just checked, and the upfront fee for Visa with CCBill is $750. You're right about the annual fee being $500. Damn, that's quite the fee...

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
I don't have an email from them, and I didn't get anything when I logged into CCBill, so officially I don't know yet...

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
that's the CCBill faq page for the new mastercard policy, about 2/3's of the way down the page there's this:
Q. I live in the EU and Visa doesn’t make me pay an annual fee, is it the same with MasterCard?
No. MasterCard requires a recurring annual fee for high-risk clients in all regions, even if your business is in the EU, while Visa only requires the fee for users in certain regions.
I'd assumed those in non-visa fee regions would be able to skip the mastercard charge as well...doesn't seem to be the case
it sucks, I'm sorry

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
Well, CCBill is being deleted from my to-do list. Another one bites the dust.

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
I agree re the slowness and issues Domino. I've barely used my account since I waited a month to get my two measley us checks then after bank fees came out with less than pocket money :( but as I don't have to pay the visa fee was keeping on the backburner for when my pay site is finally set up. Will have to consider zombaio now or do they also charge for mc?
-
Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
I remember that I had been considering Zombaio, but then I think someone said that a lot of guys have problems with Zombaio transactions being declined? That has to suck for the models, as well as the guys who are legit and serious about buying a show right now. Plus I had gotten an e-mail a while ago from Zombaio recommending that everyone change their payment methods to something else...because of some financial crisis that's happening in Cyprus.

Yeah, the first transaction I ever did with Zombaio was declined because the customer paid with his debit card from some local bank in a small Missouri town. The customer's card has to be set up to do foreign transactions, otherwise they will be declined. Since Zombaio is based in the UK and Sweden (correct me if I'm wrong) US transactions are foreign.

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
Interesting so might be worth using zombaio for uk MasterCard transactions and ccbill for visa? Lol complicated much
-
Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
Yeah I got this email while running errands. I would not suggest any of you ladies attempt to get set up with Zombaio they're terrible.
I'm pretty pissed about this I've been with ccbill for years but have never paid the visa fee. Used them for people that weren't using visa and amazon for people who were. I can't fucking live off of amazon cards. Going to direct people to pay me on cammodeldirectory and hope guys aren't all like "I've never heard of them before I'm scared to pay there wahhh wahhh wahhh".
-
Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
My business acquaintances are telling me that both Visa and Mastercard have analyzed their actual 'costs of doing business' where high risk internet / adult businesses are concerned, and have come to the conclusion that they are 'losing money' due to the higher incidence of declined charges, higher numbers of defaulting credit card account holders, new accounting costs of reporting cross-border transactions to gov't agencies etc. The $750 initial fee is supposedly to cover the costs of investigating the 'legitimacy' of the business wishing to receive payments via credit card ( as is now required by international terrorist anti-money laundering treaties ).

Exactly. I think directing them to CMD is the way to go. Fuck these fees. :P

Re: CCBill New Mastercard Fee :(
@BrownFox just so I understand you correctly are you saying that Zombaio recommended to their own customers to go elsewhere? I ditched them two years ago because I felt they were dishonest. But that sort of admission seems like a redemption of sorts? ;)
