Having trouble picking out stage names
Hi everyone! So I'm auditioning at a club (or a few clubs, if I don't get hired at the first) in a few days and I was wondering if some experienced dancers could tell me what they think of the names I've chosen so far, and/or suggest some better alternatives. I'm not particularly attached to any of the names I have right now so definitely don't feel bad ragging on them!
A tiny bit about me/my stripper persona in case it factors into your opinion: I just turned 18 a few months ago, I have a very young (read; round) face, I'm blonde, I'm 5'9, and I am thin with small breasts. I'm very bubbly and friendly and outgoing. If my club lets me pick my music, I plan on dancing mainly to heavy metal and classic rock. Also, if it matters, the only dancers listed at the club I want most are like Charlie, Emma, Simone, ect, so I'm not sure if they prefer the less playful, more realistic sounding names or what.
Anyway, this is the list, as well as some explanations (but you don't have to read the explanations haha):
Baby/Babydoll - my friend suggested babydoll after i went blonde i guess because of how young/innocent i looked, but the club might not like the fakeyness
Candy - kind of a joke since it's such a stereotypical stripper name, but again the club might not like it
Violet - i just really love this name, but i'm not sure if it will be easy to hear/understand in the club
Molly - sounds innocent and pretty, but might invite jokes about x
Jane
Julie - after a historical figure i really respect (who burnt down a convent to fuck a nun, which might make a good story when people ask about my name), and it's just pretty
Rosie - pretty name and i get really rosey-cheeked when i dance/exert myself so i thought it might be a cute play on words
Peaches - i'm originally from georgia so i thought it could be a natural conversation piece, but the club might not like it
Georgia - ^
Sophie - pretty but might be hard to hear/understand in the club
Billy/Billie - i've always like the girl using a boy name thing, but since i have small breasts, i'm afraid it might invite jokes about me being a man from people that get mad at me/are feeling mean for whatever reason
Cherry
Ruby
What do you think? Which do you like/dislike? Do you have any other suggestions for a name or how I could come up with better names? Thanks you guys!
Re: Having trouble picking out stage names
oh, and also Pepper/Piper. no real explanation there haha
Re: Having trouble picking out stage names
violet, molly and julie are cute :) baby/babydoll does sound a bit too strippery and fake..i say go with "real" sounding names. i chose simone and am despreately wanting to change it to something like jamie or madisson lol. don't go too over the top, choose short two syllable common names.
Re: Having trouble picking out stage names
The problem with fake/strippery names is that you will constantly be asked what your real name is. Like, you'll get that question often enough no matter what your name is, but when you have an obviously fake one, literally every customer will ask about it. It diverts the conversation from your hustle and gets pretty annoying - many customers also try to be "clever" or "cute" by teasing you about your name (like asking a girl named Candy if she tastes sweet or whatever... lame lines), which is even more annoying since they always say the same thing.
All of your names are fine, though I'm not a fan of Baby/Babydoll or Candy. I also always associate Cherry and Ruby with redheads, but that might just be me. Honestly, don't overthink the name. Just make it simple and memorable, no need for a big reason behind it. Keep in mind that many names are already taken at the club, so your first few choices may not even be available. A girl posted on here recently about going through 4-5 of her top picks for names before the club finally had one available, so don't get too attached to whatever you pick now!
FWIW, the club usually doesn't give a fuck about what your stage name is, so don't worry about that.
Re: Having trouble picking out stage names
Something that sounds like it might be your real name or last name always work.
Re: Having trouble picking out stage names
thanks guys! i'll definitely go with one of the more normal names then
Re: Having trouble picking out stage names
Rosie and your reason for the name is super cute!

^This!
Just choose something that is easy to remember, something that's an actual, every day name, and something that suits you. If you are looking for a cute name-anything that ends in y or ie is fun and girly.

I never realized that literally every customer would ask for a real name if the stage name sounded too strippery. I think I would go nuts! :banghead:
I like Julie and Rosie.
