As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
For those of you who have been dancing for a little while, what have you found to be your favorite things to wear? Do you go online (or in stores) and get dancer outfits, or are you pretty content with a sexy bra and panty set that match? Which one do you find to be more successful? Where are some of your favorite stores to shop? (online and regular stores.) What types of outfits make YOU the most money? Are there any alternative/edgy exotic dance wear stores I can check out?
I have read different people say different things. Some people say don't wear bra and panties that looks amateur. Then I have heard others say don't wear exotic dance costumes because they are too flashy and a waste of money. I would just appreciate some personal preference and feedback on the topic. Thanks for the info! :D

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
first check out what the club(s) you are working in allow(s). i wouldn't spend too much money when starting out. i usually bank in school girls outfits, slashed neon colored short dresses, or a bright bra and micro denim shorts/bright glowing fishnets..i never shop online anymore because the things i get never fit right/look like they do in the pictures. not sure how that would help you though lol, different looks for different girls! i'd suggest asking the other girls where they shop around you, or making your own outfits by just taking what you have and altering it a bit. ebay can be great, but i haven't had much luck with anything online

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
My typical outfit is a sexy Victoria's Secret bra as well as VS panties/thong. I have many regular stripper outfits, but I don't wear them much anymore as I've found that the sexy lingerie look works very well for me. And I love Victoria's Secret! But I'm buying a couple Kamala gowns at the end of the month for when I travel this summer to gown clubs.

I get most of my work clothes at lingerie shops (Trashy Diva, House of Lounge, etc for those of y'all familiar with New Orleans). I've wasted too much money buying things online that don't fit well or aren't flattering. In general, if I wouldn't wear it in real life once it starts to look tattered or stained, I don't buy it for work.

Easy on.... Easy off.
Simply designed outfits save me time and help me make money.
Too many snaps/straps/strings just get in the way... getting it off and on in the most effective fashion allows me to work more efficiently.
Other than that, I like prints.... I prefer very stretchy printed fabrics that glow in the dark.

It REALLY depends on the club, their dress code and what kind of clientele they cater for or attract (whether it's a dive, an upscale club and whether the customers are blue collar or white collar). Regardless, my personal preference is wearing mini dresses (usually in lace-either boob tube type dresses or halter neck dresses) paired with a bright bikini or bra and G-string (always something that is easy to put on and off i.e. stripper clips) set.
I do enjoy wearing gowns, but it really depends on the club.
I usually buy my outfits online, either on ebay, upscale stripper or discount stripper etc. It's much cheaper than buying them in store and you get to choose from a wider range (the only down side is not being able to try them on. Most are one size fits all).
What makes one girl money, won't make another girl money. You have to wear what suits your body type and what you feel comfortable in (while adhering to the dress code). It will be trail and error in the beginning, so start with basics. Also, check out the club you are hoping to work at to get an idea of what the girls wear and what is acceptable and expected.

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
Personal preference is actually gowns. I love me some bright, sparkly long dresses!! I used to buy from the clubs I worked at - designers would come in every now and then with a rack. I've bought some things online, but not much.
Where I am now, a gown would just be ridiculous, so I wear a bra and panty set, or fishnet pieces.
In general - easy on, easy off is a good philosophy. Something that stands out, and most importantly, something that YOU feel sexy in.

Awesome info ladies. Thank you so much. I am a fan of lingerie too so that is probably what I am going to stick with. This site is great I am learning so much :)

My favorite are gowns. I love how you can play with them while dancing and do a strip tease out of them. I wear a Vickie's bra with stripper thong now tho. There's too much floor work and dancing right up in front of people that makes gowns inconvenient.

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
Dresses, dresses, dresses! I like to wear long gloves and boas, too. My boss told me "The more clothes you wear the more money you will make." I wear a dress, bra, and thong. I take my time taking off my clothes, accessories, ect., making it as teasing as possible. There are plenty of nights where I know "these guys just want to see my ass/tits" and I take it off faster than I do normally. Most the time I don't take off anything unless I am tipped. Some girls might think this is "stuck-up" but fuck it, it is my own preference. If you have great abs, wear a bikini top and bottom, if you have great legs, flaunt 'em. Whatever you think if you best asset show it. To me I think my face and voice are my best asset, not my body. Plus, I like to keep 'em guessing "what's under that dress" anyway. :P

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
I buy almost all my shoes/dancewear/costumes online at snaz75, discount stripper, or upscale stripper. The only things I really bother to try on nowadays are gowns, which I buy from my local stripper/adult store or from a seamstress who visits clubs.
I prefer gowns. They're elegant and they lend an air of pageantry to the otherwise kinda gross world of stripping. At non-gown clubs, I've probably made the most money in schoolgirl outfits. At my last club, the money I made in them so outweighed what I made in other outfits that I switched to them almost exclusively. (Un?)fortunately, depending on how I style my hair and makeup, I can really pull off the barely legal/"innocent teen porn" type look. It's really about learning what suits you and what your clientele likes. I can look killer with smokey eyes, red lips, styled extensions, and a sparkly gown at one club, but if the men at the club down the road want me to look like I'm fresh outta high school...well, it's time for the pigtails and knee socks.

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
Whatever I wear has to be pole-friendly, or adaptable to be so. I have a couple halter type tops & one minidress that when I'm not onstage, I leave hanging down like normal, but when I'm abt to be called I roll them up, tie w/ a rubber band & tuck under, to expose my stomach, back, wherever else I grip the pole w/ my body. I always have boyshorts on over my thong, as to the top usually a bikini of sm kind since they are easy-on-easy-off but like I said, sm times I cover up a bit more w/ a halter top or minidress. Multiple layers of over the knee socks & tall boots ftw.
Also I don't like outfits that are heavily patterned, since eventually I will makeover many of them w/ new embellishments & whatnot, so I typically go w/ solid colours.

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
I like gowns, solid colors in an easy in/out design. As someone wrote above, I like to play with it when on stage and to tease out of it when doing a dance. Short dresses always made me feel cheap.

Re: As a dancer, what is your personal prefrence in dance wear and why?
I don't think bra and panties look 'amateur' per se but it's pretty boring IMO. However yeah, obvious costumes may be a bit over the top. I'd pick somewhere in the middle...something that is unique and no one wears at your club. Most importantly something that goes well with your body type. I noticed some curvier girls wear skirts which in my opinion aren't the most flattering. Instead I think skirts distract from their curves. So pick outfits that accentuate your best assets and make you feel sexy.
I don't work in a gown club but I'd love to wear gown and fancy lingerie. The only thing is my outfits tend to get tattered pretty quickly and I'd also hate to spend a lot on nice lingerie for work, only to get them ruined. I don't wear super nice jewelry because of this also. Costume jewelry only! Girls may steal or I may loose it.
That said, I enjoy looking classy. I wear cheaper but nice-looking lingerie that I find at discount stores or even the thrift shop (and pop them tags! ;) ...) ! I also love the occasional stockings of course too. But believe it or not, fishnet fishnet fishnet. Not as classy but on a spinner-type body with small boobs, it tends to look great on me.
