What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
To me, camming is a lot about putting on a show. I keep my personal life private and tell people what they want to hear, especially in a joking way to keep them coming back.
My "face" on cam, if you will, is a sweet, innocent girl who is kind but repressed. Since I look so frikkin' young, I work it and make it do to my advantage. I also blather on about cute things and video games.
In real life, I hate people and avoid interaction as much as possible. I like to look cute, but I would never fake it. My attitude is a mix of playful snark and banter.
How about you girls? What's your cam face? Do you act differently towards your customers than you do in real life?

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
That's a really, really interesting thread.
I'm actually in a very similar position as you, PrincessBerry. I'm the sweetest, young-looking, girl-next-door type. I have a pretty much constant smile on my face. I sometimes talk about my interests and hobbies or living in Israel in a very generic manner, but that's about it when it comes to my personal life. I don't talk about my relationship, ever. I don't talk about my family. I don't talk about my struggle with depression and anxiety or horrible difficulty in keeping ANY job that isn't camming for more than a couple of days. Don't talk about my porn addiction.
As you wrote in your topic, it -IS- a character. But I would, however, like to think they do get some sort of a "glimpse" of the real me when I smile and laugh. It's kinda tricky.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
i used to be the lolita type, very girly and young and sweet with a naughty side kinda went with my body type..but now i go more with the trashy slutty i don't GAF type which is more like the real me LOL, easier to keep in character!

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
To the OP:
How old are you compared to the age you are perceived to be on cam?
I get curious about those who may be willing to act younger than they are. I find the thought of entertaining pedophiles to be revolting (this is my preference not to do age play, not looking to argue the whole debate around pedos). I would feel disgusted with men if I ever tried the whole acting young thing.
....as for my persona: My text self is friendly, bubbly, I try to be funny....relateable
On cam....really I just try to be flirty. I am acting like I just loooooove showing off for them, and love teasing etc. I laugh a lot, smile a lot.
Really, the shy but naughty angle works for me.
I havent spent too much time trying to develop a back story, or weird quirks I would not normally do. I just try to be obnoxiously fun to chat with lol.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
Unfortunately, my real self is very close to my cam self...I say unfortunate because I have a huge attitude problem and when something bothers me, I have a hard time holding it in. I am pretty sure I'd make more money if I get rid of the attitude. I'm not encouraging substance use for work but weed totally helps me just brush off the stupid shit that goes on in my room.

The thing is, there is a world of difference between an underage child, and a legal adult behaving in a childlike manner, just like there's a world of difference between an actual paedophile, and a man who finds a legal, adult woman dressed as a Schoolgirl, or speaking in a cutesy high-pitched voice, or behaving innocently, etc, hot.
If I - as a 26 year old woman - were to (unfortunately I can't go as full-fledged with this as I'd love to, on account of site policy), entertain a man by behaving more childlike way, dressing as a Schoolgirl or something, I wouldn't think to myself, "I am entertaining a paedophile right now"...
I would think "I am entertaining a man who wants to see ME - a legal, 26 year old woman - behave in this manner. If he wanted child porn, why is he not like... watching child porn?"
There do exist men who find adult women behaving or dressing in various childlike ways arousing, whereas they are completely turned off by actual children... Adult female + Kiddy clothes (or whatever.. insert random kiddy-related-thing here!) doesn't necessary = paedophile.
But the thing is, even if a guy watching me do that wanted to, or would really prefer child porn, but is using my - legal, awesome (lol) - performance as a means of relieving himself from sexual frustration, and stopping himself feeding into cycles of child molestation or abuse because his desires are being satisfied and taken care of by performers like me, I would take that as a fucking blessing, and that is another reason as to why I hate that such role play isn't allowed.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I absolutely agree what every single thing you just said.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
Actually, I use my real age as my camming age [22], but I've had people say things like "There's no way you're over 18!!!".
I was actually super into lolita fashion, so looking younger has always been my thing.
But, yeah, I try not to play too into the "catering to pedos" thing, but I do oblige to the "Daddy" thing and try not to think too much about it. I already loathe men as it is, but, you know, it's a living. :) Anything blatantly disgusting/makes me uncomfortable as far as age and age-play go, I ban, no questions asked.

I absolutely agree with all of this, having said that I understand why some women are uncomfortable with doing it. Hell I'm almost fucking 31 and a lot of my thing is ageplay. I don't mind doing it at all.
Off cam I am a lot more grumpy. I am a lot more serious and a lot less sexy but I still have the exact same sense of humour. I never decided on a camgirl persona, just decided to be me but a lot less boring. Lol

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I'm so terrible at having a character I'm just me of coarse I don't tell my name or location or about my family. If I had something funny happen to me that day I have no problem sharing it with the guys cause I'm just naturally goofy and talkative but I make sure they know I'm here for business.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I'm way more of a 'whore' on cam if you will then I am in real life. I always play into the 'I'm such a slut, I love fucking lots of guys blah blah blah' role on cam, yet I do come off as a bit sweet and innocent on cam at the same time, so I guess I'm an innocent looking slut? lol My cam persona is definitely a flirt....in real life I'm no where near as adventurous. I'm pretty awful at flirting in real life lol, have had very few sexual partners. Total opposite, but in a way its fun to be able to 'play a role' if you will because it gives me a chance to be a more adventurous me but I'm able to shut that part of me off when I shut that cam off....if that all makes any sense lol

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I am a Sassy Bitch 24/7 :) LOL
I don't change personalities for camming, I turn mine up a bit but I can't pretend to be someone I'm not for any length of time.
Even when I was a stripper one of my clients laughed when we went to lunch outside the club, saying I"m the same person in or out of the work place.
Smooches,
Sam

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I am 90% myself when camming. There are some things that I have to alter, but for the most part I bring my laid back and friendly self to the cam.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
JAC on cam = Living and breathing personification of a Goddess.
JAC in real life = Self-sabotaging neurotic mess.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I am trying to create a character, but it just doesn't work for me lol. I always end up going back to my regular personality which is good and bad. I am already really flirty and cutesy... But I just don't find myself sexy at all lol. I get told I am sexy in real life all of the time and I have no idea what gives people this idea. I am much less of a bitch than I am in real life and when I was on MFC that did NOTHING for me. Now that I am on SM and CB, I think ill add more of my fire cracker personality online.
Anyway, great thread.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I'm a slut who loves to wear sexy lingerie, dress up and role play :)
Oh...actually that is me in real life too!
-
Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I have never been a slut in real life. I was always taught to be a good girl. Get married, be faithful...and I still am. Camming has allowed me to act like a slut and guess what? I love it :D
-
Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
If I showed my real personality on cam, I would never make any money. :D It has to be an acting gig for me because I'm so quiet, I would just bore everyone. Also, my bs meter alienates people--I don't suffer fools.
My alter ego is a horny milf with a filthy mouth. Men in my room use the words "sensual" and "sexy" a lot, but when I walk down the street it's totally the opposite - I don't like drawing attention to myself. I was voted "Most Innocent" in high school. Very insecure about my looks until I started camming.
Since I'm so introverted, it takes a lot out of me physically and mentally to entertain my room, so I only last more than 2 hours if I'm really busy.
I love this thread.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
Oh wow haha, I'm so different online vs real life.
Online: I tell them a little bit about myself, how I work on cars and play video games. But then it's all sexy talk. I'm outgoing, friendly, cheerful, fun.
Real life: I'm still suffering from depression because of my moms death, and I hate social interaction.
What a difference

What a difference
I understand. The combination of dreading social interaction and dealing with depression can make it extra-hard to cam, what's with having to put the biggest, most cheerful smile on your face.
Luckily, I personally noticed that when things are going well for me on cam, I forget about everything and am able to just focus on banking. When I have a horrible day on cam (which happened quite a lot lately, as my latest posts indicate), it makes everything else look as grim as usual, so I just log off after no more than 3 hours and sometimes decide to take a day-off.
Hang on in there. You're awesome!

I hate that it isn't allowed also. It is *roleplay* after all. It sucks. If we want to keep pedos off the streets and away from kids we should be allowed to
I also have that "young/innocent" look. But I don't promote it or try to emphasize it in any way. I would say I'm 80% myself on cam. The 20% difference being mostly my looks. I dress and do my makeup very differently. I used to be myself on cam- doing the goth thing, it wasn't working out so great so I only do that in my personal life now.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I definitely have a cam persona too - I dress completely different on cam to what I would in real life ( well , yeah ;D ... I wouldnt even dare to go out in super short dresses and revealing tops ) , but even my non-revealing outfits are different. I usually go for stuff I love to wear but dont have the guts to . I need to have " my face on" when I go online , I wouldnt be seen on cam without make-up. In real life I'm fine going without , unless Im going on a night out.
In terms of personality - I think im much sweeter and happier and even friendlier than how I usually am outside of it. It's kind of being on my best , "likeable" behaviour when on cam. I also portray myself as a couple of years younger than I actually am , and a free spirit , with no cares in the world , single and happy like that. Exactly the opposite of whats happening on my day to day life.
Im actually quite vanilla on cam , I would say. In real life, I think Im actually kinkier and would do more adventurous things then what Im willing to do on cam. Hmmm , I never realised this till now :)

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I can run the gamut of personalities, lol. A lot of times I'll be myself, but I enjoy acting and getting into different roles for different types of shows.

Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
In regular life, in general I'm a try-to-always-be-optimistic, bubbly chick who likes witty banter and teasing (my bf when i have one that is).
so on cam, i'm basically an innocenter version of myself. on crack. sometimes I need an energy drink to get myself in 'the zone'
I put my age as 2 years younger then I am simply because I look young and I get annoyed of being told I don't look 21 lol
-
Re: What's your angle/character on cam vs. you in real life?
I am just the same on and off cam. I would find it hard to have a cam persona...my memory isn't good enough for that!
