Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
Why do so many girls do this?
"I'm not making any money because there are ho's here, a guy will always pick a nasty ho over a pretty, clean dancer." (I literally heard another girl say this.)
"No one is spending money." (Don't even want to count how many times I've heard this. Did you work the whole room? No? Then you can't say this.)
What anyone else does really has no effect on how you make your money. I've left the club a top earner on dead nights when girls feel the need to blame other girls for being ho's and "taking their money" or the customers for "being cheap". I've also left the club on busy nights with literally zero dollars while other girls made bank. What I make depends - every time - on my outlook, my mindset, my feeling of self-worth and my motivation to work. What anyone else does outside of you has zero effect on you. If I go into the club knowing that I'm a bad ass bitch, I bank every time. If I go into the club with a shit attitude, desperate or pissy, I don't make money.
You are an independent contractor. You are your own business. If you are not profiting from your business, that is no ones fault but your own. Other girls are irrelevant to you unless they are helping you make money. If they aren't, forget about them. Customers are irrelevant to you unless they are helping you make money. If they aren't, on to the next one. You are here to make your money and leave, not compete with other girls or talk down on them out of some deep-rooted insecurity ("at least I'm not a ho." Bitch, you are a stripper, you are as close to a ho as a priest is to a monk).
Another girl sit with "your" customer? Find a new customer. If he wanted you, he'd tell her no. No other customers in the club? Time to find a new club. If where you are and what you are doing is not serving you, it is up to you to change it. No one else.
TL,DR - You are the only reason for the money that you make. Everyone else is irrelevant.

~Thx 4 ur super useful post, simone, will remember u in mai dreamz~
Seriously, is it not a rule that you have to add to the discussion or don't post at all? Tell me your feelings, your thoughts, your innermost pontifications on what I wrote. Did you get offended? Have something to add to the discussion? Let's talk.

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
hmmm...yes i do disagree with saying a stripper is pretty much a "ho". they both work in the sex industry but have very different jobs. i don't consider myself a "ho" and i would hope you don't either while working in the strip club.. i kind of hate that ghetto ass disgusting word in and of itself to describe another female. :) and second, cool your butthurt please. i did not attack you, i simply disagreed with ONE point in that little rant post. you said you've been dancing for..a few months maybe? you aint gonna last if you get THAT offended over one word.

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
Positive attitude and good work ethic make a huge difference, but if you're working in a club where every other girl is offering blowjobs for $40, you're in a fucked situation no matter what you'd like to believe. If other girls are undercutting and offering dances for $10 instead of $20, that's driving down the microeconomy within the club. Basic math.
Really though, you making this thread seems to be completely against the spirit of what you're saying. Why do you care if other girls complain, particularly since you're busy being a top earner? And the ho comment? Really..? Do we even need to discuss why that was a shitty thing to say?

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I don't like being called a ho, but we are all in the sex industry. Even with escorting, there are other escorts who may have cheaper prices, offer other services (such as anal), or whatever. We've got a lot of overlap.
But regardless of whatever is going on, it is tough to take a step back, point the finger at yourself and ask, "How can I step it up and get some cash tonight?". Plus, we're allowed to have a shitty night once in a while, our job is TOUGH. Some nights are just crap for reasons beyond our control.
This post has an interesting perspective from an "extras" girl:

Someone hasn't heard about the law of supply and demand. Profits in the club (and in any business) depend on this law.

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I don't do this at work. Complaining about others *in the club* is a waste of time, not to mention fucking immature.
That being said, I usually get to work early...girls that come in later in the shift sometimes ask me "how is it out there?" if I step into the dressing room. If customers aren't spending... I will say so. It's not so much a complaint as it is a fact.
Sometimes, when it's early, I feel like customers are playing a weird game of "chicken". I get that they want to see the full variety of girls trickling into the club... so they delay getting dance... especially if a new dancer walks onto the floor every 5 minutes. They bide their time and procrastinate. It's contagious behavior. When other customers see that no one is getting a dance, they hesitate too. I don't know if they feel shy or if they think there must be some "reason" no one is getting dances. Who knows. It doesn't happen all the time, thankfully. But when it does... it can be frustrating.
Then... like a scene in a nature documentary... a dusty, parched landscape sees it's first drop of rain. Lightning crashes through ripe, heavy clouds... suddenly it is a deluge.
I always try to be that catalyst because A) I get to the club early and I am impatient and B) I take it as a personal challenge.
At certain points in the night, there are definite lulls in the action. Half an hour or 45 minutes may go by and things pick up again. Is there a Behavioral Scientist in the house???
Another thing I want to mention is that extras girls DO have an effect on other people's money. As much as we can say we are independent contractors, we are still at the mercy of (unfair) competition.
Imagine running a smoothie kiosk at the mall. Sure, there may be other smoothie kiosks there... some may sell sugary smoothies with cookies mixed in, another sells vegan smoothies, another specializes in ice cream smoothies, another makes protein powder smoothies for gym buffs. Whatever. There's something for everyone. NOW! Imagine a new smoothie kiosk opens up with decent enough smoothies... but each smoothie comes with a free diamond necklace. The other kiosks can't afford to do the same... it's a lot harder to get customers now that Smoothies & Bling opened up. It's not an even playing field. It sucks...
BUT! Do I complain about these chicks in the club? Nope, management usually knows and actually gives these dames preferential treatment. So complaining is a waste of energy. And as far as complaining goes... that's what StripperWeb is for! Hah!

This analogy is mildly irritating.

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I do not agree with the OP completely. As some girls have already stated...#1 It does matter how many girls you are working with each night and it also matters if they are shit talking you to the customers bc they will not tip or buy dances if the girls u work with talk trash, #2 Customers are always always relevant to u as a dancer...If you are in a club with 20 girls and only 3 tipping customers then 17 girls may be walking around in circles making no money. I do agree with the OP in that we all do need to try to have fun and not get discouraged easily...But that is hard when night after night there arent enough tipping customers to tip most of the girls who are trying to work...That leads to girls competing against each other and it can be brutal...What I have learned in my many years of experience is that its all about working in a club where girls arent out to backstab every second of every shift..Believe it or not I work in a club or two where many of the dancers I work with..not all..but many are actually somewhat nice to one another. Many nights the girls who are friendly to one another make more money than say the ones that hate on every dancer that isnt in their clique or who they are jealous of. It doesnt always run smoothly but even if u r threatened by say another girl if u can at least pretend like u like her then people will see u as approachable and in the end it will only benefit u...Customers dont want to see girls who r about to scratch each others' eyes out..They come into the clubs to enjoy themselves and be entertained and have fun...Not to hear a bunch of hateful remarks or be around a bunch of shitty attitudes...I do understand the OP when it comes to that aspect of it. This is really a shit time to be a dancer..I remember the days when money was so much easier to make..And virtually everyone at the club was actually making decent money.

I've been struggling to maintain a positive, aggressive mindset lately. Sentences like this help me improve my attitude. I want this on a motivational poster!

It is just ironic as fuck that you would bitch about other women being bitches about bitches.
-
Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I can understand the OP not liking her colleague's negativity. I just choose to ignore it, try not to associate with people who will bring down my mood, waste my time or irritate me and continue to work hard.
Girls are ALWAYS going to have bad nights, be annoyed by each other, "bitch" about each other and justify a bad night by blaming the extras girl or a top earner etc. It makes them feel better about themselves, helps them to bond with others and helps them to get up the next day and come back into work-if they don't blame themselves, they won't be down on themselves so they will in in a better mind frame to work. Or at least that's the way I see it ::).
So let them waste time talking, complaining to other dancers-it's only effecting their money, not your's.

^I'm sorry you feel that way about yourself, your industry and your fellow dancers.

Hi Dezire, Can I ask you to please use paragraphs? After say 3-5 sentences, I am getting serious eye strain trying to read your post :)

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I agree and feel that girls should look internally for the answers as to why they are not making the money they need to be making instead of focusing on, and blaming it on external factors ("ho's", or customers). Once they can pinpoint and come to the realization as to what is holding them back consciously or subconsciously can they make the necessary changes to introduce success into their lives.

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I don't feel like there is anything wrong with being a prostitute and the only reason you do is because you have been conditioned to look down on them. Prostitution is the oldest profession, it was at one time the most respected profession. Prostitutes are bad ass and being openminded about that in no way makes me anything less than a bad ass bitch, TYVM. Go ho's! Sluts unite! Sex positivity! This is 2013, people, any modern lady - ESPECIALLY SEX WORKERS - needs to appreciate that prostitution is a legitimate form of work!
-
Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
^ yes, i agree!! but not in the club. i don't really think they probably appreciate the word "ho" either.
-
Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I'm confused. Are you trying to defend your ho comment by equating a prostitute with a ho? Because one is a profession, and the other is derogatory. You can try to take back the term all you want, but the way you used it was not particularly empowering.

No one here is knocking prostitution in&of itself. I think the objections came more over the tone of your "Bitch, you a ho" statement. Apart from the fact that prostitution doesn't belong in strip clubs, Idk abt anyone else but I have yet to hear that word used to convey anything but disrespect.

Re: Blaming others for your lack of money-making.
I love when girls complain about how bad things are money wise. It does not bring me down in any way. The way i see it is, Less hustlers = less competition = more money for me; as opposed to being in a club full of hustlers, then the pressure would be on.
I still go out and talk to EVERY customer despite the girls complaints because there are guys who actually do go for dances. The key is to walk the bar and hustle.
I have zero fear of rejection. I move on to the next customer and the next until I find one that spends.
