Would you work with minor injuries?
So I banged myself up pretty bad last night out with some friends. No idea how lol...some kind of wipeout! I have a huge cut on my hand and my leg is cut and scratched and peppered with a nice amount of road rash and there's some bruises on my legs and arms. Do you think it's going to be an issue for me to work before everything has mostly healed? (probably about a week) I want to work because I'm not in a lot of pain or anything like that, and I wouldn't miss work at another job for this but...does it look "bad" for a dancer to be all banged up? Do you think mgmt or the customers might say something/not like it?
Re: Would you work with minor injuries?
^As long as your face, tits and ass are fine-they aren't going to notice! If they do, causally use your scrapes as a funny ice breaking story (you might get a "pity dance" or at the very worst they will think-this chick parties hard-she's going to be fun!). Or if you don't want to tell them to truth, lie-say that you fell over jogging or something and laugh it off.
Just be careful not to do much floor work as it might aggravate your healing knees/legs. Cover what you can with make up and make sure you apply antiseptic after work to avoid SC nasties getting into your wounds.
You could always wear knee high stocking/socks to cover up your legs a little (especially if you need to wear bandaids), or knee high boots (if allowed) or a gown in stead if it's an upscale club.
Re: Would you work with minor injuries?
i've worked with all sorts of injuries..almost all the dancers i've worked with have a ton of huge bruises, scrapes, etc. i even had to work with 10 mosquito bites in a row right on my ass last week :p looked like i had some sort of plague! try and hide it as much as possible if its bad, but the lighting will help and most customers couldn't care less. but if you really are injured its not worth it to work! take it easy on yourself, good luck :)
Re: Would you work with minor injuries?
My then-BF's overly agressive sexual tactics left me with a terrible, blotchy, purple handprint bruise on my ass that lasted about a week. It happened right after I started working at my current club, which is on the classier side, so I was super mortified about trying to hide it, but I managed to with booty shorts and careful positioning while doing VIP dances. Recently I worked with a splint on my thumb after a car door injury, and I've also worked with a fucked up hand after an injury involving someone's face... that was the only one that actually hurt because I kept forgetting that I couldn't use it on the pole.
Oh and this isn't exactly an injury, but when I got my tongue pierced I literally sounded like I was mentally challenged for a week and a half, asking customers "wud you like a pwivate danth?" A lot of them did.
Re: Would you work with minor injuries?
If the scrapes are already scabbing over, I'd cover them the best you can & just be careful on the pole/floor. I'm a bit paranoid & even cover the blisters that sm times develop on my fingers & near my underarms from the pole - not only do I not want to catch anything, if the wounds are open-ish I don't want them getting irritated further & leaking over surfaces that other girls are going to have to touch.
Bruises I wouldn't worry too much abt. They are so common on dancers, esp if you do a lot of pole work. My sides & biceps are often dark w/ bruises & I've got areas of permanent pole burn, but few customers seem to notice. God bless those forgiving club lights b/c sm nites I go into work looking like :fight: :eye-poppi
Re: Would you work with minor injuries?
^ lol. Yeah ok. I think another day for the cut on my hand to heal a bit more and some stockings and off I'll be...the antiseptic is a good call for sure, catching something from the broken skin is exactly what I was concerned about. Thanks ladies!

I'd wear stockings and gloves and go make bank :)
Re: Would you work with minor injuries?
I have and believe or not I got a lot of “pity dances” from the guys. A lot of them were also curios as to what happened to me and wanted to talk. Overall I think most of them felt sorry for me. I remember after dancing a few nights with my injuries I decided to take some time off and supposedly one customer asked “hey what happened to that chick with the black eye and broken hand?” I cracked up.

Get all bandaged up and wear gloves... maybe stockings/legwarmers to cover up the cuts? I don't want that stuff to get irritated or infected... clubs are filthy. Just keep it covered and go to work.
Once, I got a 2nd degree burn on my wrist. It was horrific to see what looked like a grand canyon level of stratification through the layers of my skin, skin color, red, the off-white-yellowish subcutaneous fat... all exposed... almost down to the reddish muscle tissue in the middle. Ugh. I washed the holy fuck hell out of the wound with Hibiclens and sealed it off with a hydrogel bandage. On top, I wore a wrist cuff, bracelet to conceal and protect the injury while working.
YOUR injury is nowhere near as annoying/serious.... just seal it up and hide it with clever fashions. Work around it and get better soon. :)
