Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
Our logitech c310 doesnt have actual 720phd that we would at least like to have. It's printed that it offers hd, but streaming. cpu usage, compression, all that brings it down. Even just recording with it isnt cutting it anymore(see pic). We would like to upgrade but are unsure of quality. Apparently new webcams (like HP's newest one) dont always live up to the expectations.
What cam do you have (if it's HD) and do you like it, do you not, can you recommend one?
Attachment 34336
During movement, it's very blurry. The only thing slightly sharp is my hair. There is no autofocus feature and it has a set focal length, which makes it very sub par.

Looked at youtube video tests of it and it seems to be pretty good. Any more suggestions? or does everyone like that one?

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
Most girls use either the c910 or c920 from Logitech. Those are the 'gold standard' as far as cams go. I believe the c910 is discontinued though but you can still get it on Amazon I believe.

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
I use the c910 and love it. Logitech recently came out with the c930e but I haven't seen anyone here say anything about trying it yet.

Logitech c920.
I look like hell with my c910. The new c930 is super widescreen and the c920 is already more widescreen that I would like.

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
Honestly, my best experience so far has been with the Logitech HD C910. I have a new Logitech HD C920 just because it's a newer model, and because my C910 was fucked up (the video would freeze up at the slightest touch, so it was time to get rid of it).
But as for my C920...my issue with it is that every time I plug in my cam, I have to go into the webcam settings to adjust it so that my color's not all washed out. It happens every time, even though I always click on the 'Save' button after making the adjustment. It's really annoying, and I didn't have this problem with the C910.
At least with AdultWork/JustCamIt, you're able to see how you look on there even before you click the button to start broadcasting. On the MFC model web broadcaster, you don't know how your video will look until you click the 'Start broadcasting' button. So when I start broadcasting, I always have to hurry up and open the Logitech webcam controller settings to fix the color issue real quick before guys start complaining...and we all know how quickly guys will pop in and out of a room.....
I've been hearing people mention the C930, but when I was looking up info on it just recently, it appeared to have not been released yet. I'll just deal with the C920 for now, I guess, until it dies on me.

Currently, a Logitech C910 in NEW condition will cost you from $160 on up on Amazon. *facepalm* That is TWICE the cost of the new C920 I just bought from Target. I really do miss my C910 (had to get rid of it cuz it was on its last leg), and that's my favorite webcam model so far, but I was not about to pay $160 + shipping for a new one.
Every time you turn around, there's a "new and improved" version of something...lol. Dammit, I was happy with the C910.

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
The only thing i do not like about the C920 is it doesnt swivel.. so i have mine on a tripod. that is a bummer and i dunno why they made it to be stationary

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
I'm going to be purchasing the c930e next, it's $126 with $3.99 shipping on ebay and $206+ $35 shipping on amazon. It looks amazing. I have a 720p or something that works great but I like shiny new things :)

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
i just got the logitech c920 and its awesome, haven't used it for camming yet but im sure it will look great but its about to be replaced with the logitech bcc950 in a few months or so because in my opinion that is THEE ULTIMATE camgirl/guy webcam. it pans and tilts with a REMOTE! hehe ^_^

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
On the logitech board the c930 is no different that the c930.. same specs all around.
Logitech states the c930 supports MACS, has the software for MACS where the 920 does not.
Like courteny I like brand new things ;) so it will be my next purchase
@billabong TY for the input on on the microsoft, I have always wondered. I really want ot see it in use. Thinking of buying that one as well, if it doesnt work , just return it.
I have become a webcam junkie

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
Has anyone tried the Logitech BCC950 yet? I'm curious to try it because I *hate* the Logitech 920 mouse operated remote, and I miss camming with video cameras with remotes! (Just doesn't work anymore with the new video cameras). I am wondering if this new logitech has good adjustability, you know for those upskirt shots and the like, or if it will just sit there on it's stand like a head fish and pan up and down a bit.

I just got this few months ago. Guys love it but I'm blah about it. It doesn't zoom in/out completely as I wish (this cam was made for rated PG conferences, not naughty camming like we do). Also the remote zoom in/out up/down isn't graceful and sometimes locks. I feel like I give better angles/POV when I'm just using all other webcams that I can detach and move into different positions.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I just read some bad reviews from camgirls on the amazon page from it. Funny to see camgirls I've heard of posting with their cam names on there about it. Makes me believe it for sure. Ah the good old days when you could plug in a camcorder with firewire and record shows and have perfect video and zoom! If I could settle for the distortion my HD camcorder provides it would work fine but I can't...technology just isn't in sych with the cam biz right now!

Re: Best Webcam in your opinion - webcam shopping
I cam with a c910 and I love it. It tends to wash me out, so I use a rose coloured bulb as part of my standard 'three point' lighting set up. Right now I'm looking into purchasing a cam corder and converter so I can live stream in at least 720dpi.
I'm thinking that I'm going to like that more than using a web cam, especially since I'm making videos now. The jury is still out - because I'm still shopping for a cam corder.
Cons:
It doesn't have a remote to zoom in and out.
You have to glue a nut on to use a tripod.

I thought about getting the Bcc950 as well. I watched some Youtube test videos and a couple of Camgirls who had it and it didn't look HD to me. The quality just looked off and it didn't look all that sturdy. I also read some of the reviews and those made me completely pass on it.
If you're looking for a cam with zoom and remote maybe try the Sony Evi-d100. I had one but it looked too surveillance-y and too dark for me so I returned it. I tried using a camcorder but it was an older model and my computer doesn't have firewire plus the camera was too dark. I want the Sony-EVI-HD so bad, that's like my dream webcam.
@SophiaSylvan I was thinking of getting a newer camcorder and using it as a webcam. How does your HD camcorder distort you?

One of my computers has firewire, but what happens on both iFriends and Streamate is this: most camcorders don't provide true 4:3 or, they give cropped widescreen, and the sites read that wrong and pull it either skinny or fat. Ever see some hosts whose video looks distorted? Like they're stretched out one way or another (most pick the setting that makes them look skinny, lol but it's too obvious for me). I've tried tinkering with the Encoder settings but to no avail, it won't let me select or customize any input or output size that won't squish me. Apparently if you bought a camcorder with true 4:3 not letterboxed widescreen it would work but none of the specs say that and none of the camcorder dealers will answer me about it. It just occurred to me that SM is now offering widescreen and I tried it again but for some reason it's not now recognizing my camera when it did just fine a year ago! Grr...

Logitech C920. I had $35 Microsoft Lifecam when I first started. It sucked lol. I love the C920.
