Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
For the dancers, what's your feeling on customers wearing cologne? Don't care? Prefer not? Like it as long as it's good? Any colognes you know you particularly like, or don't like, or any that are too overplayed?
Customers, any that you think the women are particularly attracted to?
I used to think that the "oh you smell so good" was just one of those compliments in the strippers' toolbox -- that is, notice anything on the customer, and compliment that. But without a doubt, it is the case that if I wear certain colognes (3 in particular), there is a huge chance I'll be treated to "oh my God you smell so good!" accompanied with some fun neck nuzzling (I LOVE ME SOME NECK NUZZLING -- I wear very little so if she wants to sniff it, she *has* to bury her face in my neck!), whereas if I wear other colognes, or no cologne at all, that won't happen. Which makes me think there really are some legit preferences at work.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
My sense of smell has nvr been particularly acute, so I don't tend to notice smells of any kind on a customer (good bad or indifferent) unless it's piled on heavy. The one exception might be cigar(ette) or pot smell, b/c the customer in question tends to be a heavy smoker. That's just me tho.
For practical purposes, if I was still dating I wouldn't like to smell cologne on a customer, mostly from fear of it rubbing off on me then I go home to my man smelling like another dude. Even knowing that I hadn't done anything untoward, that would still be an awkward conversation.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
I like it when they smell nice, whether that's cologne or just clean clothes and fresh out of the shower. As long as they don't smell BAD!Then it's fine. I have a sensitive nose. lol

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
I have about ten bottles of cologne on my dresser and all of them were given to me by dancers. When I was married I always wore cologne as part of my cover. I always got compliments not necessarily for the particular fragrance but just for smelling good. Yes, dancers will get a lot closer if you you smell good! Anyway, over time, girls started giving me cologne as a birthday or Christmas gift. Since most of my faves are from Brazil the fragrances were almost always something that they liked from their home country. I can't remember any names but "Botanica" seems to be a popular distributor as that name appears on several of the bottles. I still get compliments even from the ladies that are not from South America...
Before the cynics jump in, yes, I know that, very often, a dancer will compliment you just to try and get you to buy dances...at my age, I take compliments any way that I can get em'!

Ha, yes, I'll take compliments any way I can get them, too. And, definitely, dancers look to compliment you as part of their hustle (I did a search before I posted this thread, and found a brilliant post by charlie61 where, as an example, she advised complimenting customers on their cologne), but I'd emphasize again, I absolutely get more compliments from some colognes than others, which makes me think some of those scents truly are more pleasing. In addition, the colognes I get complimented on in the club, I also tend to get more compliments on in "real life", the difference just being that strippers are more forward in giving compliments. I'm so far gone that I actually will wear new colognes to the strip club for a while, to see how the strippers like it, before I wear it out on dates.
Compliment-getters for me: D&G The One for Men, YSL La Nuit de l'homme, Nautica Voyage. I'm increasingly disliking the Voyage but it's a surefire compliment getter

1. *thinks Y's hot..
2. I have an acute sense of smell..I was once hired for a scent project..
3. I can't say I don't care what you wear..my roomie wears Axe..UGH, & Old Spice..double ugh
PLEASE DO.NOT>wear a gallon of anything. I believe all scents today are made much stronger. Also, heat intensifies, so go lighter in summer. Of course, hygiene goes a long way too

VERY true! When I do wear it I put it on when I leave the house. Guys who douse themselves before they go into the club stink to high heaven! And yes, a bottle of cologne is NOT a replacement for being clean to begin with!
Thank GOD I got rid of that bottle of Old Spice...:great:

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
Dolce & Gabanna Red and Chanel # 5 are my two all time favorite fragrances on a woman. I give them regularly as gifts and it always ends up costing me ridiculous amounts of money in VIP...

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
I'll admit that I'm not a fan strong or too much cologne in any context. But, am I going to refuse to dance for you because of it?...no ;). Some guys do go a bit crazy with it, but I guess it's better than a guy who smells like BO and hasn't made an effort before going out on the town or who doesn't take care of himself properly.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
I do like it when customers wear cologne, for a few reasons...
1) It gives me something to compliment them on (I always comment positively, whether I actually like it or not)
2) I'd rather smell cologne than someone's personal scent (most people have good-smelling base scents, but smelling that on a stranger is a bit too personal for my preferences. Base scents are for partners!)
3) Many customers come directly from work (stress sweat doesn't smell good), from another bar (cigarettes and alcohol) or from the street (le stench de homeless); rarely do they come from a shower and a fresh change of clothes. But if the customer does have time to shower and whatnot, then I prefer the smell of bodywash alone to a strong cologne.
4) It helps me 'read' the customer: whether they wear something warm and comforting or cool and sporty (smelling a warming scent on someone always makes me happy; IME sporty-smelling guys are generally trying too hard to seem younger and cooler than they actually are)
That said, cologne is often spritzed too liberally, which leaves me smelling like other dudes...and I can imagine that'd be a turnoff for other customers.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
The fragrances that I wear to the club wouldn't smell good on a guy, so I won't bother sharing them....but I do sometimes get compliments from the dancers.
Unfortunately the 2 most common smells emanating from my fellow (male) customers is either nose-hair melting B.O. or cologne so strong that it actually makes me gag a bit. C'mon guys....I'm a customer and I can smell you a mile away. I pity the poor dancers that have to actually get close to you.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
Great thread. I recently started to wear cologne to the clubs and was curious if dancers appreciated it too. I figured the ladies I have gotten dances with always smelled great so I think they would appreciate a great smelling customer as well. Great to read some of the comments so far. I put one light spray on my finger and dab it close to my lower neck area on both sides near the collar bone. Currently using Allure Homme Sport by Chanel. Dont believe that is too much cologne or is it?

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
I love colognes, as long as they are used sparingly. There is something sensual and intimate in having to be so close in order to smell them on someone. It's like sharing a secret. I will tell a customer that I like his cologne if I have to lean in to catch a whiff. If a man bathes in it, I'll sneeze. My favorites are the sweet, spicy scents: Spice Bomb (Vicktor Rolf), YSL Black (I think), Opium (another by YSL) and Obsession. The latter two have been around a while, but I still like them.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
In general, I find that when guys are overdoing it, it's a double-whammy -- it's too much application, of a huge spicy in-your-face scent. Pimp-daddy club scents like Le Male, 1 Million, Kouros, A*Men, that's usually what's making people's eyes water.
Barney, Allure Homme Sport is my tied-for-favorite of the light clean smelling sport-style scents -- and the kind Charlie61 says she doesn't like :) Although I find that kind of scent a huge compliment-getter in the real world, I haven't tried it in the strip club yet. One light spray of AHS on your finger and dabbed around your neck is basically going to be a skin-scent, most women who don't put their nose up to you probably don't even realize you're wearing it, I bet.

Yoda just gave someone a quandary to ponder.::) Did the dancers give yoda the cologne because they genuinely liked him? Or was it because they didn't like how he smelled before they proferred the cologne ? :-\
Moving on to answer another question: C61 confirmed my belief that dancer compliments on cologne are "SS". As I traveled a lot at odd hours, I'd often pick up whatever ~ 1 - 2 oz bottle was available at a 24 hr store. I'd get the same "oooh, you smell so good, what cologne are you wearing" compliments for 4 different brands of cologne. Like yoda, I'll take whatever compliments come my way, SS or not.

Glad to hear it. To be clear, I always enjoy having something to comment on, and it's a good conversation starter. And I often do like whatever scent they're wearing (there aren't too many colognes out there that smell downright gross).

Yea, I believe you're right. They probably don't realize Im wearing it. Its just that every time I put some on, I can really smell it (of course) so I'm afraid I'm putting too much. I don't want to be one of those that are dowsing or smell like I showered in cologne. I just want to have a faint smell of it, and enough for the ladies to smell but not be bothered by it.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
Ladies love the Issey Miyake- L'Eau d'Issey. I don't recall if it's the men's fragrance or the unisex fragrance that rocks my socks... but I think you can't go wrong as long as you don't smell bad and use cologne sparingly. I've gotten headaches from customers that converted their shower to spray fucking axe body spray (or at least I assume that's what they did). Nope. Just be clean and remember that when it comes to cologne, moderation is key.

Not something I lose a lot of sleep over. In the club everything is based on money. I used to get compliments on my cologne before a few dancers started giving bottles to me as gifts. Now, they may have "liked" me but it wouldn't have mattered if I wasn't spending money. I would have been ignored like all of the other great smelling non-spenders.

Anything in moderation...

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
Update: Well, I popped my cherry- bought my first cologne online. Actually, 2. I did it to blow a giftcard that I got- more of a "what the hell am I going to spend it on" kind of thing. Another reason was one of my fave go to colognes was discontinued.
This thread, coupled with wading through reviews, and trying out scents in stores underscores the point that there is a bewildering array of choices out there. My discontinued brand seemed to get the strongest compliments, yet when I mentioned it as a frame of reference to store rep, she said that she disliked it because it came on too strong. Go figure. Finally said (not out loud) screw this, and just googled "top 100 mens colognes" and picked prospects falling within gift card budget from that list. Wading through the plethora of product reviews did provide some entertainment. Plus show that one really needs to read between the lines. "Angel by Thiery Mugler" got rave reviews for women going crazy over it , smelling good, lasting a long time. Then I got to a 3 star grade review in which reviewer acknowledged those points, then went on to say "I just cannot bear smelling like a freaking cookie all day." :D Point well taken, I passed on "A-Man".
I ended up buying a new brand, and an old familiar one. I've tried out the new brand at the club, and ended up getting a stripper compliment on "what cologne are you wearing, it smells really good." :highfive: 5 for 5 now !

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
I'm mildly allergic to perfumes. I don't wear any and I prefer my custies to not be wearing so much that I can actually pick up on it. If I can smell it, it's probably going to bother me. I'm just saying, be conservative in case dancers have allergies or sensitive skin.
That said, anything smells better than cigarettes. Whatever you smell like, please don't smell like smoke. Kthx.

Re: Do you like, or not like, your customers to wear cologne?
i'm a fragrance whore, i absolutely love perfumes so yeah i like it..what i don't like though, is men who use it to cover up nasty BO!
