Tracking clients IP through email?
How do people do it? Is it a program you have to install on your computer? Recently I was trying to get verification for a client from Le Vip Collection and their email sent a notice back that my ip is recorded. I have been wanting one of these for a while.
I've tried readnotify.com to verify guys coming from out of the country but I really didn't like using it. I want to track the ip of all clients in my client list. I'm tired of guys who are blacklisted contacting me under different email addresses, handles, and prepaid phones.
Re: Tracking clients IP through email?
I've gotten IP addresses though emails b4.... That won't work for what your doing, I take it?
Re: Tracking clients IP through email?
If you have your own website you can use Ipnoid to track traffic. Its a heads up on anyone who is checking you out.
I once saw two simultaneous hits on my site from the local Police Headquarters. It is a very effective product.
You can also tell what keywords people are searching for concerning you. For example, someone might search "Jasmine Doll Arrest Record" or "Jasmine Doll Rip Off Escort", you can match those searches with emails you have received. It gives you great insight into where your clients are coming from.

www.ipnoid.com
This site is great to use! You can see how many times someone hit your site, how long they were online, and more.

You can get this sort of information with Google Analytics as well. Very useful for any type of website!

I never knew that. Google analytics has been very confusing for me ever since I attempted it numerous times over the year. Is this something easy to use ?

You can get ip info from statcounter as well. Google I think makes it very confusing, and if you have multiple sites linked to a google account it can be damaging. If you only have one or two sites then I wouldn't worry about it. But statcounter can be a bit easier to decipher for a novice.
Re: Tracking clients IP through email?
If you just want to check the location of a single email, that's recorded in the header of the email (assuming the person hasn't used an anonymizing service, but such a service would confuse all the above programs too). To track the IP of a single email in yahoo mail (it'll be similar in gmail, etc.), I:
1. Click on the email I want to look at
2. At the top, there are bunch of options (Reply, Forward, Delete, Move, etc). One of those options is More. Click on it.
3. The More pulldown menu has a "View Full Header" option. Click on it.
4. The full header pops up. Follow it down to the words "X-Originating IP"
5. Copy and paste the originating IP address. Here's the IP address of some spam email I got, for example, so you know what it looks like: 69.67.223.216
6. Go to one of the many IP reverse lookup websites. I used www.ip-tracker.org, pasted in the IP address above, and ip-tracker showed me a map with the location of the server with that IP address, the domain name, whether it's a blacklisted site, etc.
You're better off with one of those great site trackers that also does website hits and does the rest for you automatically, but if you have some immediate need right away to track an email IP, the above took me about 30 seconds
edit: I just checked real quick to see how to do this in gmail. Once you've clicked on the email, instead of clicking on the more box on the very top of the page, you'll click on the little down arrow at the top right of the email itself (a little box will pop up that says "more" once you hover over it). Click on it, then click on Show Original, which will bring up the headers. Then follow from step 5.
