Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Okay, so I am 22, white, 38DD, 5'6, hourglass figure, dark blond, hazel green eyes, I've got an ass (or so all my guy friends say lol).. BUT I do have a bit of a tummy and am a little thick. I'm not obese by any means but I do plan on working out a bit to tone up once I have some extra money to spend on a gym membership. I live in South Florida so I'm looking to work anywhere from Boca area to Miami, and I know there are quite a few clubs with different standards and whatnot.
Now... I am usually VERY confident when I am out with friends, have worked in retail for almost 3 years and understand customer service and how to start a conversation and whatnot but I'm sure that selling a dance or VIP is probably at least a LITTLE different than selling some woman a dress or whatever haha.
One thing I have heard said countless times on here is that confidence is key. This makes me feel a little better but I am still pretty nervous about the whole stripping thing and getting naked in front of guys I don't know. I think I would be fine with a full nude club, probably even a contact club, but I do need advice on a few particular issues. Also, I consider myself a budding domme (as in BDSM/Fetish/Kink whatever you want to call it) so maybe that helps with my confidence, I don't know. I could roleplay and pretend to be softer or whatever for the job (and sometimes hot guys do make me want to play nice :p ) but yeah.
1. I've heard that thicker girls are fine as long as they carry their weight well, and while I'm not shy about my body I wonder how much I can expect to make when I don't look like a barbie doll? What I'm mainly concerned with is getting a realistic average for my first and second week working, keeping in mind my looks and assuming I go in with high confidence -- but also keeping in mind that I am a NEWB at this. Could I expect to make at LEAST 500-600 if I work 4 days a week just starting out? This is the minimum until I get a feel for the ropes, so to speak. EDIT: I should clarify that the 500-600 is profit after house cut and all that.
2. I've seen advice on clothes and most people just say 'it depends on the club' and one thread said some girl even wore Ugg boots and made bank! But, realistically, unless the club specifically requires you to wear heels would it be okay to wear wedges or even flats or sandals? I wouldn't mind wearing heels for a bit but I think wearing them for 7-8 hours would just KILL my feet. I've never been able to wear them for more than 2-3 hours straight.
3. Anyone who WORKS in Florida -- any advice on the local clubs? One friend mentioned Booby Trap and Scarletts but Booby Trap seemed to have some mixed reviews and haven't been able to find much on Scarletts. Any other clubs you might recommend with details?
4. I am pretty nervous about auditions! I'm sure I need to practice my dancing a little and will definitely be looking up more stuff on youtube. I can pop my booty a little, lol! but I know that's not what most customers will expect as long as it's sexy and I make them want it, right? Still, any specific tips on this (awkward movements to avoid and whatnot?)
5. Are there any online clothing stores you guys really love to get stuff from? I don't think I'll be working at a gown club but you never know, so anything/everything is welcome!
6. How do you turn down someone that wants extras if I do manage to get a VIP room? I am not at all down for that, but I also don't want to lose a few hundred dollars just because some asshole thinks he's going to score. :c
7. What about music? Do you make your own CD mix and bring it to the club for your floor/stage dances? How does that usually work?
8. Do clubs expect you to change your outfit after a certain amount of hours, or do girls usually change outfits? I've seen one or two references to this and I can understand having a 'backup' in case one rips or breaks or whatever, but as far as actually changing just for the hell of it is that more a personal preference or something I should expect? I only ask because if I'm just starting out I may not be able to afford a more outfits until after my first or second week working
Thanks for all advice and tips! I am really new to this, and some questions may seem silly but I just want to be prepared!
Edit: Better pics are here!

I should also note that I do intend to make more than 500-600 after I get going and whatnot, and that this is AFTER house fees and all that. Hopefully I'll be making at least 1500-2000 in a week after I get some experience! LOL

ii would think so, that's a little over 100 a night..but then again, it really depends on so many things nobody is going to be able to know that for sure
2. I've seen advice on clothes and most people just say 'it depends on the club' and one thread said some girl even wore Ugg boots and made bank! stripper heels are different than average heels that kill your feet..they support your arch and they are kinda comfy. do not go in there with ugg boots, flats, or flat sandals! that's my advice. just no..
6. How do you turn down someone that wants extras if I do manage to get a VIP room? I am not at all down for that, but I also don't want to lose a few hundred dollars just because some asshole thinks he's going to score. :c
you just have to say no and move on. don't try and trick them or lie to them, just don't waste your time with em and find somebody else! you dont want to have to deal with that for an hour in a champagne room do you?

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Thanks for the response. I didn't know that stripper heels were made differently than regular heels! That is very good to know and I'll have to look more into that. Are there any good physical stores you might be able to recommend? I don't mind buying clothes online but for shoes I prefer being able to try them on. And I don't think I'd wear Ugg boots, LOL I just thought it was kind of funny. At the very least I'd be wearing a low heel or wedges.
As for the VIP tip that is a good point. I'm mainly wondering if anyone has had experience with turning the situation around in their favor, but I assume that in most cases it's probably best to just walk away from creeps like that.

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
most adult stores are kind of region-specific, for instance its leather and lace where i live, but down where i work its adult wear-house..just be sure you get them small so that they fit like a glove ( without being tooo tight)! you can also take a blow-dryer to them when you first get them to soften the plastic and then put them on and let it dry, molding to your foot. yeah i would definitely try them on first!
and those douches are always a waste of time, if you do manage to get them in there without promising anything they will harass, grope, and drive you insane! ick

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Great tip about the blowdryer! Need to remember that one :D

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Aw, good luck girl! Let us know how everything goes. I'll be starting next week. I too am a bit concerned about my tummy since I've had two kids. Drink tons of water, TONS and that will help with any bloating you may have immediately. No one is perfect and flaws will barely be noticeable under the black lights.
For me personally in regards to income, I'm hoping to bank at least $1000/per week while working 3-4 shifts.
Much love and positive vibes. Keep in touch.

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
I've worked in Ft Lauderdale a few times in the past couple of years and the club I work at is Pure Platinum. I haven't really tried anywhere else because I really like it there. The house mom has gowns there and she will alter them to fit your needs for a low fee. They are anywhere between $80-$180 I would say. They have a restaurant inside the club, I think that's pretty unique. I would invest in a pair of stripper shoes (they are very cozy, don't worry!) and one bikini. This club will let you audition in a bikini but I think you will need to have a dress to work. They are so pretty, though.. maybe bring extra cash for one. I've never been to a place where the outfits are as good in shops as they are from the housemom or costume lady.
From my understanding, Scarletts is a very nice club that is flooded with a lot of beautiful dancers, with a slower hustle. I haven't ever worked there because my first trip to Florida when I found PP, the girl I was travelling with wasn't hired. It is giant and beautiful inside, though!!!
Good luck! When are you thinking of auditioning?
-
Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Thanks for the positive vibes, Sarah! c: And yes, that is a good tip about the water, definitely do not want to be dehydrated!
@Miss
I was looking at Pure Platinum since it's closer than Scarletts and a few others but wasn't sure how strict they were with the girls looks and whatnot. Did they have thicker girls there at PP? I am not super thin and am quite curvy haha, but I am not really big either. I will try to take a pic of myself so people can see what I mean. In the meantime here is a quick pic I found on google that is pretty close to my own body shape http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/23...27e34d8b6d.jpg
Right now I wouldn't have $180 to pay for a dress, lol! If anything I may be looking to work at a club that is still "good" but not quite as upscale until I have some money in the bank and then work up to someplace nicer. I know I have it in me to work for a nicer club because I am very willing to learn and work hard, and I'm pretty confident I would enjoy it (I'm very sensual by nature, though not what I'd call 'slutty' :p ) and have a good, positive, attitude.
As for auditions I am hoping to go to some places next week. Staying working as a driver to keep some cash on hand and until I get accepted somewhere. So nervous though!

7. What about music?
1. You don't have to be a barbie doll to make money or do well. Wear outfits that flatter your assets i.e. a low cut mini dress would highlight your boobs and bum while covering your tummy on the floor. Depending on the dress code, you can always wear a waist cincher or corset to cover that area as well. As for how much you can expect to make-it really depends on your club and your area. Every girl is different and every area is also, so it varies. Read through hustle hut so that you have some ideas on how to talk to and approach customers. The faster you learn to hustle/better you are at hustling, the higher your income will be.
2. Wearing high heels is a must! I personally wouldn't want to work in a place that allowed ugg boots or flats to be worn on stage-it would be giving dive and new meaning. 99% of clubs require you to wear stripper heels (or at least high heels)-it's part of your "uniform", it's the dress code. You should be allowed to remove your shoes during lap dances if you need to. Invest in some actual stripper heels asap. I know that they look painful, but they are comfortable.
4. Watch you tube videos for tips on moves etc and generally watch your co workers as well-you'll pick it up. Just keep everything SLOW!
5. There are plenty of places online to buy outfits etc i.e. ebay, upscale stripper, discount stripper etc
6. There are plenty of threads in hustle hut about clean dancing and dealing with demanding customers.
7. It depends on the club. If you can choose your own music the DJ/MC will ask you for your choices and play them during your stage set.

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Thanks c: Apparently stripper heels are way more comfy than regular ones so that eases some of my worry regarding that. And I was definitely going to look into simple corsets as part of my attire, depending on where I end up working and what the dress code is. I have one corset but it's a high end one (steel ribbing and satin, definitely not for stripping in!).
Good advice so far. I'm still looking for any advice on specific clubs down here in south florida if anyone has any. I've tried doing a search on them but there's not much specific info, at least not for what I'm looking for (how likely it is I am to get into certain ones, whether they are gross or not, etc).

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
1. how much I can expect to make when I don't look like a barbie doll?
Who knows? You may make $1000 or you may walk out in the negative. This business is not guaranteed. It depends on the type of club, the customers and your hustle
2. wear heels would it be okay to wear wedges or even flats or sandals?
If you're going to be a stripper wear stripper shoes. Church shoes look stupid and feel even worse.
4. Still, any specific tips on this (awkward movements to avoid and whatnot?)
Try not to jerk around too much and point your toes.
5. Are there any online clothing stores you guys really love to get stuff from?
No not really.
6. How do you turn down someone that wants extras if I do manage to get a VIP room?
I just tell them "I'm pretty and not desperate." ::)
7. What about music?
That's all you.
With regard to your weight there is "civilian" thick and "stripper" thick. I don't know what you look like or how your weight is distributed. Upscale clubs generally want thin or fit dancers. Mid tier to dives are more forgiving as well as urban clubs.
-
Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Thanks. I do need to tone up more and right now I'm just looking to get into a decent club that isn't too gross so I can make some money and reach my goals physically and financially so that I can move up to a better club, not to mention learning the ropes while I begin.
I had another question I thought of while doing some extra research, though and I'll add it to my list at the top but... here it is:
Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
If you're really serious about dancing and you're unsure of your weight the best thing I could recommend is working out at least 5 times a week starting immediately. Your appearance is the best (sometimes the only) asset you have when you walk into somewhere new. Don't go on any crazy fad diets, but cut out sugar and try to eat a lot of veggies instead of junk food/snacks. If you drink soda, cutting it out of your diet will help immensely.
Most of the girls there are very fit, a couple are a little more fluffy but mostly in shape. It's hard to say without an actual picture, but definitely don't wait until you get into the club to tone up. Start now and you will be so much better off!
Solid Gold is nearly next door and owned by the same person, I was under the impression it was more urban, though I haven't ever worked there.
& Change your outfits whenever you want!! I usually don't change mine during my shift. (If I do, for me it's sad because I'm usually too busy to have time to change) One dive I worked at the chick manager talked shit about people that wore the same outfit all night, but I've never experienced that as a rule anywhere.

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
If I were you I'd walk into an urban club if you have an ass. The snow bunny angle worked for one of my buddies @ Onyx. They were chasing that lil snowbunny aroud the club. I call it "Alice in Wonderland" syndrome! :D

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
@Miss:
Yes, I plan to start working out! I can't afford a gym membership yet, but starting tomorrow I will be working out with some helpful youtube videos xD Thankfully I'm also not a big fan of sweets and I never drink soda! My only real 'junk' food weakness is pasta, but I don't eat it all that often. Truth be told the only thing I really eat/drink that is bad is juice but even then I mostly drink tea or water. I definitely could eat more veggies and fruits, though. It should be pretty easy to lose some weight once I get down to it!
Edit: I should clarify that at the moment my lack of tone/definition is due to working in retail. While we are on our feet a lot it's not really the sort of job that tones you up, though it's definitely better than a desk job in that respect.
@Tempest:
What is the difference between an "Urban" club and a "regular" club for lack of a better term? I know some are more upscale (like gowns and whatnot) but not sure what if you mean a predominantly 'black' club or something else :p
If you do mean predominantly black that might not be such a terrible idea, lol! I went to a mostly black HS and I kind of know what you mean.... a lot of black guys do seem to like white chicks for some reason!

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Oh another quick question -- sorry if I'm asking too many! I just want to be prepared and not totally blindsided by something unexpected!!
Q: What would you guys say, from your experience, is the normal range for house fee for various types of clubs (mid-level to upscale types)? Are there other kinds of fees I ought to be aware of; such as tipping waitors/DJ/bouncer/whoever else? What about the house taking cuts from money earned from lap dances and the like, if at all?
Thanks! :D
-
Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
Yeah "urban" is considered the PC term to refer to a predominantly black club. I don't know the house fees for Florida but I do know the more upscale the place the higher the fees (usually)
And depending on the club they may take a cut of your LD/CR $$. Or charge a high house fee but then you keep all. For example at my club in Albuquerque house fee is $28 on Friday. Dances are $5, $10 and $20. They only take a cut out of the $20 one.
My main club in the Philly burbs only charges $10 hf and $10 tipout to DJ....but they take cuts of everything. It balances out one way or another.

I work at a Spearmint Rhino in the UK and instead of having a house fee at the beginning or end of the night, they take a cut out of each dance you do. if you do a £20 (roughly $32) dance, they take £8 (about $13). same goes for VIPs. so £60 for a 15 minute sit down, they take £24. But again, it varies on the place you go. SR is the only place that I've danced, but other dancers have told me that some have a house fee usually between £40-80 and then there may be a top up fee if it's been a good night. and don't forget tipping out! my club has a jar we can chuck tip outs into instead of going around to everyone at the end of the night, but definitely keep tip outs in mind when calculating how much you aspire to earn in a night. best of luck!xx

^This solely depends on the club. Depending on the club, you will have to pay a house fee, tip out (money towards the DJ or MC, bouncer etc) and the club usually takes a percentage of the dance/room prices.

Ah, I see. I was looking up info on that and Scarletts actually says how much they charge, so that was good to know.
Thanks!

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
By the way...
I am thinking of going in to audition this week, or early next week at the latest. How does setting up an audition work? Do most clubs hold auditions most days of the week, or do they usually schedule them in advance (like if I called today could I expect to schedule an audition for this week)? I don't think I am necessarily rushing it... I just hate waiting. I'm the kind of person who thinks a lot and I'll just end up psyching myself out. Better to pull the bandaid off quickly! LOL
I do not have too much in the way of clothes but I think I could pull together at least a decent outfit. I have a black spaghetti tank and a cute black and red sexy tutu and black/red platform heels I could wear with it. I would of course need to buy myself a garter for money.
But.... I do not have much 'fancy' makeup. Only the essentials, really, since I only worked in retail before this and it was custom for makeup to be tasteful and relatively traditional and 'simple'. Would a smokey eye with red highlight be okay (mascara, eyeliner, obviously as well). I'd get my hair done, too. Do you think this would be enough for an audition?
Also, what is your opinion on things like fishnets or thigh-highs? Good idea or bad? I think they look really sexy! But I would like some advice anyway.
Anyway, I will take some pics of my body since I mentioned earlier that I would do that. I am definitely not as toned as I'd like to be but I know dancing will help and I also plan on getting a gym membership once I start making some money. I'm worried that management may not like me simply because I do not have a 'perfect' toned body for the audition -- am I just overthinking this and being silly?
Thanks again for your advice, ladies! <3

Re: Need ADVICE on what to expect for MAKING $, AUDITIONS, and CLOTHES!
^There is no standard for auditioning/hiring, so just call the club and ask. You could also simply show up with your gear, but if the club is out of your way, you risk being turned away due to timing.
Your make up sounds fine if it looks good on you. It's not a matter of piling on the product so much as just looking your best. No need to waste money getting your hair done. Just straighten it, curl it, or do whatever you can do yourself that makes it look sexy.
If fishnets/thigh-highs make you feel sexy and work with your outfit, wear them. I always wear over the knee socks because it's easier on my knees for floor work (I bruise mad easily) and they keep me warm in the cold club. I also like the look. You can always take them off if you decide you don't like them.
You are over thinking ALL of this, so just go audition and start making money already! As soon as you step foot in a strip club, you will quickly realize that many of the dancers do not have 'perfect' toned bodies, 'fancy' makeup, or any of other other things you're fretting about.
Oh, and a small purse will also suffice if you don't have a garter right now.

Knee socks are a great idea. I imagine it really helps with just the pressure/strain of kneeling on the floor so I will definitely look into getting some of those c:
