Best pole for sensitive skin???
Hi I looked in many threads and only found one thread about a woman with allergies to her pole but it didn't go into as much detail as I would have liked. Anyhow, I have no idea what my interaction will be with any kind of pole as I have never owned one before but I do have a nickel allergy from my jean buttons.
I am looking into getting a Brass pole from poledanzer.com because most threads I have read (on here and elsewhere) seem to agree it is really grippy and well made (and my hands sweat a lot so I need grip.)
In terms of my known metal allergies I can say I only know that the nickel buttons in my jeans set me off with eczema and earrings with nickel make my ear lobes red and painfully swollen. I danced at a club that had stainless steel and never broke out but it was way too slippery and I have sweaty hands year around so it was awful. Does anyone know which kind of pole is most likely going to make my skin go nuts? I don't think I own anything made of brass in order to rub it on my skin and test it out lol. Truthfully I would not want steel, chrome, or TG since I know my hands are ultra sweaty and I have read those 3 are not good for people with sweaty hands. However if they are better for me than brass in terms of skin sensitivity than i guess I might have to buy one of those...
If anyone can answer this or has experienced more of a reaction to one over the other that would be great. Thanks!
Re: Best pole for sensitive skin???
I don't know if you're allergic to liquid chalk or those power grip things (I use them at home for grip when I practice with mine, I believe it's chrome), but if you're not why not go with steel or chrome? The grip from those products really helps and mine was too slippery until I found and started using the liquid chalk stuff.
Re: Best pole for sensitive skin???
Thanks for your reply Sansonnet. I don't know what's in those hand grip aids but I do know I am highly sensitive to household chemicals, dyes, and fragrance which it's hard to imagine most products without so that's why I didn't want to deal with buying grip aid stuff. I recently heard of some sort of grip glove dancers use however so I might look into that. I wonder if anyone has used those with success. I'll have to search for threads on that if they exist. Thanks again.

The one grip aid I use (I think it's called Power Grip, a little gray bottle from Modells) does in fact have a fragrance. Heard about the gloves, but never tried them myself.
