Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
Hey ladies, it's been a while since I posted here, because I took a break from dancing for a while, had to get my mind right and handle a few other situations. But I'm back, and planning to go back in a week or two but I need help with something.See, I was recently temporarily homeless for a while, jumping from hotel to hotel. When I finally found someone to stay with, their house had bed bugs! At least the room I was staying in did. I got bit all over, my arms, legs, back, and butt. Some of them even bit my face, one of my eyes was swollen shut! Well, most of them healed pretty well, but the ones on my back and butt turned into really bad scars. I know the lights in the club are pretty forgiving but they're noticeably darker then my skin (I'm a light skin black girl btw), and it makes me feel really self conscious, especially because I think my butt is pretty nice otherwise. (I get a lot of compliments on how big it is/shape! Lol!)I need some type of quick fix. Laser removal isn't even an option right now, and idk many other options. I was thinking maybe the Sally Hansen self tanner stuff, but Im afraid it will rub off on customers. Any other options?
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
The scar will lighten up on its own. At times I get those dark marks when I get mosquito bites and they always lighten up after some time. In the meantime just cover it up with foundation and powder.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
But what foundation works the best? I need good coverage since they're really dark. And I don't want it to rub off on a custy.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
Use raw cocoa butter (comes in a stick/block) and rub it on the scars. It will help to get rid of it. Do that 2 or 3 times a day.
If there are still some scars by time you dance, get some foundation and mix it with your lotion/body cream so you can get a light cover. Maybe spray some hairspray on it if you are scared of it rubbing off on customers?
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
I was hit by a car when I was 16 and was covered in horrible road rash on my knees, elbows, face and thighs. Mederma scar ointment and scar cream worked very well to make the scarring all but vanish. I only have on mark to even show that I was hit, and my skin shows scars VERY easily. I recommend it to anyone looking to fade scars.
You could also try some dark spot correcting products? I've used Clinique for my acne scars and it's a miracle worker. Works very fast.
Tattoo makeup could be useful if you can find any on short notice but it's also pretty expensive and requires a setting powder to keep it in place.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
I would suggest some fade cream such as ambi, palmers skin success or black opal brands for the dark scars. All can be found at walmart or the drugstore nearest you. You will find better variety of these products if you go to a store with a higher customer base of people of color. Also these products are between 5 and 10 dollars except the black opal which I think is closer to 15. But the black opal brand fade product has a great review from paula the cosmetics cop! As far as covering the marks until they fade, revlon colorstay or any other long wearing foundation or concealer. I've heard nyx has a great full coverage concealer but I've never used it. Set with powder and then spray with setting spray. That's sure to cover the hyperpigmentation.
Now, as far as it not rubbing off on custies...its a good chance that if you put makeup there and with the kind of friction you seem to be implying...I don't know if you can avoid that. But again, I don't know maybe someone else can assist with that part. Hth girlie gl
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
dermablend is good and stays put.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
I used Mederma on scars and the results are amazing over time. Try it out.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
Thanks guys. Where can I buy dermablend? And will I be able to match it to my skin tone? I think the skin on my butt is a little bit lighter than the rest of my body because it gets less sun... Sorry if that's tmi by the way. LOL!
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
You can buy creams/gels to lighten or fade scars from the pharmacy, but it's fresh and will eventually lighten. Dermablend is great! I have a deep purple scar from a piercing and it covers it up perfectly (this also covers tattoos etc). Any wash off tan will help to cover it also, but, Sally Hasen airbrush legs is probably the best for hiding imperfections. Some spray on or self tanners darken scars and dry skin.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
What can I do to not have the dermablend or sally hansen not rub off on customers?
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
Dermablend usually require setting powders to help it stay, and I've used Sally Hansen seldom but have never had a problem with it coming off on people or my clothing if I made sure to put it on at an hour or two before work. It needs time to sit and dry more than anything, I've read that putting it on the night before can be helpful but I've never done that before.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
sally hansen will rub off on customers..but only if you work in a grinding/high contact club. just let it dry really well..don't sleep in it tho, your sheets will be covered and it doesn't feel good to sleep in. just put it on an hour/30 min before you hit the floor. the cream sticks better than the spray. i hear some girls put hair spray over it to help it stick too..never tried it
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
I personally have never had Sally Hansen or Dermablend rub off on a customer. I wear it religiously and I've worked in some heavy grinding clubs. Maybe I'm just lucky? The only exception is once I mistakenly wore lotion underneath it, that was the only time it rubbed off on a guy. Fortunately he was cool about it, but yeah do NOT wear it over lotion.
I started using hairspray over it and noticed it does help it stay on. I always have to shower to get it off but when I use hairspray I really have to scrub it.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
I use sally hansen's leg makeup. I put a primer on the areas that need heavy coverage, and then combine the sally hansen's leg makeup with lotion to cover my whole body. If some spots need extra care, I use the sally hansen's spray throughout the night or regular makeup. The black light really helps with imperfections on its own. Confidence is key! Most guys care more about the attention anyways. Don't ever point out your flaws. Chances are they never saw them till you directed them to them.
Re: Embarrassing question, but need HELP!
Also think you should try Dermablend. The scars will eventually fade. I had to stay with my aunt in the projects for a while when I was 16/17 and the mattresses me and my sister slept on were INFESTED with bed bugs. I tried my best not to scratch so they would scar but they were so damn itchy, and they would often bite in groups (2-4+ bites in a row, in the same area). The worst of them didn't go away for about 6 months but they definitely weren't permanent. They'll fade. Sorry you have to deal with it, bed bugs are embarrassing and a pain in the ass. I was in high school back then and had to wear long sleeves even when it was hot so people wouldn't see the marks and freak out.
