Bummed, I'd been looking to do peepshows, but I do agree that camming is the new peepshow. I haven't found any out in my area, not too surprised they are dying.

I'm sad that the Lusty Lady closed down too, but I have to chime in and say that the hourly wages were NOT good! The last time I worked there in early 2012 the top wage was $11/hr and my paycheck for two shifts/eight hours was around $65 after taxes. No one should be doing sex work for less than $35/day.
Years ago there were quite a few in Chicago and Northwest Indiana but most are now gone. The ones I am familiar with were mostly attached to a bookstore, though a couple were free standing ones that were just peep shows. I auditioned at one and was hired but the money I was offered was very small and I was making more at clubs. I think this one paid hourly like $10 hour and only got tips if you made so much and the owner said I "could" make $500 a week if I was lucky. When I was making that in one night (or at least two)why work 5 days for that? This club was also sleazy too and most of the peep show dancers I saw were unattractive.
Well yeah in the philly of the early 1980s they were common, during the era when the video booths were just starting. They created an excuse to have prostitutes around. The girls who did peeps quite often were selling more and other women worked the stores, used the booths and likely paid some rent to the owners. I'm not old enough to comment on what the peeps were like prior to the video era during the 1970s. I have to admit young virgin 14-17 year old me was intimidated by the girls when I got offered. They were really hard, and direct. I'm sort of thankful they were so I don't have a seedy how I lost my virginity story about the peeps. That's one of the reasons I'm of the "oh yeah clubs are so much dirtier than they used to be" being total BS. I can't imagine someone underaged (and I probably looked about 2 years younger) being propositioned today, in any club I don't care how extras ridden.
The once or twice the girls were safely behind the glass so I could try the live show you throw like a $5 in and a panel would raise where you could watch the girl play with toys (sort of like a cam cum show but they were much worse actresses than today's cam girls). In most of them you could talk through. I generally got ignored (and wanted to be ignored) and the girl was usually paying attention to another customer so I can't comment much on the interaction.
If you hit someone in the 50s you probably could get better stories. I tried it but I was too inexperienced to really have experienced it.
I've seen sex shops up in Atlantic City and I think NYC advertising peepshow dancers. I have never seen one and don't know how well they do though. I wouldn't mind trying it for at least a night.
I worked at the last 2 peepshows in NYC for a year and a half. The first 6 months were fun, the money wasn't great but since I was also stripping I didn't have to count it on as much. It was just nice to have some kind of income that I didn't have to pay a ton of house fees for. Then the bosses started hiring new people left and right. There would be 3 times as many girls as before and not anywhere near enough clients :( Girls that had worked there for years and loved it were starting to get worried. I quit when I started doing body rubs. I've heard there are places in Queens and Long Island with a lot of potential but I've never been to them.
We had a peep show for years in Syracuse which had a closed-circuit phone to communicate with the girl. Also had video booths. It closed when they converted the back of Adult World into a strip club, called the Club. Adult World is still there, though the Club has been closed since the summer.
Problem with the peep show with phone is handling the phone when you are also handling something else.
Boston's last peep show (closed for many years now) had the phones as well. You couldn't pay me enough to actually touch one of them...
Good point; a hands-free phone would be better. I didn't like their phones either. If I ever did this, I'd bring my own washcloth ot paper towel and hand washing liquid.
Peepshows are dying out and it's a shame. They are generally sleazy looking but the advantage is that most men don't come in there really knowing what it's about like they do in clubs or on cam and as hobbyists, and most girls overlook them bc they don't know there is money to be made. The men and couples are mostly wide-eyed and naive instead of thinking they know it all and have a death grip on their cash. The money is less than a strip club but there is no handsy custies, bc of the glass, there is no stage fee and no tip out, no sherriffs card or biz license and on a good night you could make about $500 per six hour shift, all take home. On a slow day you make nothing or a few dollars, just like a club but you don't walk out being in the hole either. The one in Vegas was bought out by the owners who still have ones open in Albuquerque. They shut the one down in Vegas last year without any prior notice. It's too bad bc it's not the same as camming or stripping-sort of in-between and I always felt like the novelty aspect and stage was like being in a circus (in a good way lol).
That’s funny this thread popped up now bc this should be making a comeback with the what’s going on now
They could literally turn all the strip clubs into peepshows so they could still make money during the pandemic as long as the glass was there. The cleaning part....ick that would be a gross job for someone but there are a lot of people who will need a job sooooo....! I actually don’t think it’s a bad idea times change you gotta evolve with it.
Bc to even put girls on stage at a strip club is risky (dirty pole) . So if you had one girl behind glass doing a show, maybe in separate booths....could work....
What’s the difference between a peep show and a strip club? Sorry I know I’m retarded lol
So they were basically a girl performing a nude show behind glass while the guy sat and watched(jerked off) and left. There was no contact between the girl and the customer because of the glass. This is before our time, I’ve heard about them from older customers, I think they went out in the 90s. I think it would be fun to work in one because it’s like camming. They went out of style because why watch a girl behind glass when u can get a lap dance? But I feel like now they could bank bc of the pandemic. You wouldn’t have to deal with legal restrictions if you’re behind glass or worry about catching something.
Holy hell one of my old zombie threads.
remember Temp...aim for the head <3
Hahahaaa. Blast from the past, this is awesome. I used to work at the Lusty Lady in Seattle back in the day before it closed. Yeah I am dating myself. Anyway... I really hope they make a comeback. The money was NOT great but it was fun and easy and I would do it again in a heartbeat. No hustling, no contact; just get all prettied up and dance behind glass. They really need to come back!!
Ooh, yes they might make a comeback with the pandemic. I’ve always wanted to go to one and maybe even work at one. Any in Miami?
I hate to say it folks, but I doubt that they are coming back. They were popular in the past simply because they were the only way to jerk off to a naked girl other than a VCR porn tape, which was neither high def nor interactive, or a magazine. With all the high def online content now for guys to jerk off to in the privacy of their own homes, including cam sites, I don't see the demand coming back.
As someone who was around back when politicians were zoning peep shows out of Boston, I'll also add that they hated peep shows even more than strip clubs. At least with a strip club you can spin it as an entertainment venue, but there was only purpose for a peep show and it was seedy. I doubt that many politicians, most of whom are old enough to remember them, wants to see them return to their communities.
But look at the bright side, sooner or later the clubs will open back up. They already are in an increasing number of areas.

Saw it in my travels, pretty sure they had a big sign "Truckers park in rear". That always got a chuckle no matter who the colleague or customer in the car.
