Weird hours
So I've been dancing for a little less than a year, and I'm still figuring things out. I recently (last 6 months) auditioned and started dancing at a much bigger, much more competitive club in NYC. For the most part I really like this club and really want to stay here, but I'm having a slight issue with the manager. When I started, he told me I could only work Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Apparently this happens to a lot of the new girls. Even though I'm happy with the weekend crowd and money, I want the ability to work weekdays as well. I've asked the manager several times and he keeps refusing to let me add weekdays. He also won't seem to give me a straight answer when I ask him why. Other girls have come in and been allowed to work weekdays immediately, or in a few weeks/months. I can't figure out why I seem stuck. I'm relatively consistent with my hours, well kept and I make the club $$. Have you ever heard of this happening? Do you know what the issue might be? Thanks.

Re: Weird hours
usually they put the new girls on weekdays, not weekends..but i have heard of one high end club near me that puts newbies on weekends because weekdays are actually more profitable, and the vets who have been there longer get first dibs. just work there a little longer, or find a new club that lets you be more flexible

Re: Weird hours
At my club weekends tend to be packed, but it's more of a lap-hop hustle with younger guys and bachelor parties... there are fewer big spenders. The weekdays are when big spenders come in looking for girls to take to VIP for hours. It's definitely a different hustle, but I really just want the flexibility and I want to try as many different things as possible to see what I like best. Thanks.

Re: Weird hours
I may have worked at your club in the past because a manager told me the same thing. On my third shift I asked a different manager if I could come in the following Wed and he said it was fine. The first one didn't say anything about it when he saw me that night. I will say that there were always way too many girls Tues-Thurs and nowhere near enough Fri-Sat.

Re: Weird hours
Can you talk to a different manager or is he the main manager?
Not sure why they want you on weekends that's weird. My manager gets mad at me if he doesn't see me working at least one week day shift. Then again he also gets mad at me if he I don't work the weekends. If it was up to him I think he would just have me live there.
Honestly you can make money any night of the week though! I wouldn't put too much stock in the week day thing. I'll admit I like working week days more than weekends if people come in, but there are a LOT less customers so you have to hustle hard to get them. Sometimes I do well and sometimes one or two girls bank and I walk home with under $200, it's a crap shoot. Weekends are easier there's more people to pick from, I never go home on a weekend with less than $400. I do feel you on the annoyance of the young crowd/bachelor parties, its why I hate Saturdays!

Re: Weird hours
I understand why. It's cause here in NYC, weekdays tend to be more profitable and girls flock to the weekedays so they try to make girls work the weekends when they are short on girls and pretty much haze new girls. It's completely unfair.

Re: Weird hours
Right on about the hazing. I forgot to write that this seems like a thing they do specifically to dancers who have never worked in NYC before. If you don't get someone's permission soon (I really recommend asking someone else) I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have this problem at another club.
