Ha I was just talking to a bunch of DJs about how in 100 years there will be stripclubs with robot strippers. Not saying this was a good idea, just saying that with the rate of progress in technology, especially AI and robots, it's a matter of time.
And look at what I found while trying to find links to corroborate!

It's already a sociological issue in Japan (scroll down to embedded video--it has been removed from YouTube so I had to post the article):

AHH! That is really cool. I've never given it much thought but humans really do tend to form emotional attachments to inanimate objects, machines especially. I'd imagine it would be confusing and a little, idk, suspicious(?) if I knew that the thing I was speaking to and growing attached to seemed like it was reciprocating my feelings, but I knew it wasn't... that would probably be the biggest barrier. It's like being mean to Siri: she doesn't REALLY care because she doesn't have feelings as we know them, but you still feel guilty, and then you feel stupid for feeling guilty.
Also, I have a really, really big crush on these guys. :-*

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
nah, robots will never replace real people in the sex industry. that would defeat the purpose.
-
Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
AND. I almost didn't even click the link before I started to write a post about robot sex dolls, because I was sure the link was just going to be about robotic sex dolls. It hardly is. Just in case anyone here is as foolish as I am, ::) you REALLY want to click that link. It's very cool.

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
i read it/listened to it, and it is cool but i figured from the title of the thread that was the posters point. if any job can't be replaced by robot dolls, exotic entertainment is one of them but that's just my opinion for all its worth.

And think of how the customers would react. Instead of "what's your real name?" guys would be asking "are you a real human?"
I thought the original post was about all the non-factory jobs robots could take over if they were programmed to connect with people's emotions, like therapy (like the ELIZA program), teaching, nursing, or anything that relies on interpersonal skills. But looking back I actually think you might be right.
It is exciting and cool though. If I had the brain for it I'd love to build some sleek sexy bots :yummy:

kind of reminds me of that movie artificial intelligence..i cried so hard watching that movie haha. it almost scares me how fast technology is growing, idk whether its good or bad

I have heard about this, they call these guys Herbavors don't they?
Cartoon chicks and the like don't do anything for me, but some people will be into that. I can see something like that becoming a thing, weird though.

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
Remember Darryl Hannah in Bladerunner?
I am thinking if they could make robots so well you couldn't tell whether or not they were human, it would work very well. Which in a hundred years I bet they could.
Remember Decker couldn't figure out if he was human or not? Damn that movie is so good...

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
Would you consider Gigolo Joe the ultimate vibrator?
-
Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
Anyone remember Natalie Wood's last film?
Brainstorm
more likely a version of reality than robots.
Plus, why would a strip club buy expensive robots when real women pay them for the honor of working there?
-
Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
^^^ the concern is that rich strip club customers themselves will buy / rent expensive robots, and stop patronizing strip clubs. Zero risk of drama, zero risk of STD's, zero risk of being busted, an probably less expensive than upscale strip club spending. I can even envision a 'Taylor Rental' business model being established for these robots, so that guys can return one robot and take home a different one every so often.
PS I wouldn't want to be working on that 'cleanup crew' which has to work on the returned robots LOL !!!

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
can't imagine what kind of perv would go for that, ick! i mean, they've had blow up dolls for years now lol..i could see maybe if the dolls were SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the real thing.
kind of like the difference between my cat and my kids furby. furby is cute and cuddly and never shits on the floor or meows in the morning and he says a lot of sweet things but after awhile my cat comes slinking in and rubs itself on me and i forget all about furby because my cat is a real living thing with free will who chooses to love me, and there's no replacing that feeling of a living breathing thing choosing to love you back

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
the only interesting thing about cherry 2000 is the early part of the movie where the women in the bar are agressive rude and kinda caricature guy like.that and the parking garage that spans new york to LA

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
electro-stimulation, easy to make one of those - wear it and watch porn
-
Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
Would your companion robot consider it cheating if you went to the strip club every now and again?
-
Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
^^ I suppose it depends on the 'personality app' you have running on your companion robot !!!

Not necessarily. Consider the possibility that 10 years from now ...
https://secure.realdoll.com/wp-conte...a/jessica1.jpg
... a company will be able to provide a 'replica' of your favorite porn star ( or anybody else for that matter ), capable of full robotic motions, AI based audio responses, heated 'skin' etc. at a cost that is far less expensive than ...
A. booking a private session with the real porn star once per year
B. booking a few private sessions with escorts who don't come close to 'measuring up' to the porn star herself / replica
C. paying for dates with perhaps a 20% 'success' rate of the girl coming home and having sex
D. paying for repeated private dances with an exotic dancer with perhaps a 1% 'success' rate of the girl coming home and having sex
And yes that pic is an actual 'custom' doll already offered by Realdoll / Wicked !
Keep in mind that when robotic motions, AI based audio responses, electro-stimulation etc. are integrated with the 'doll', it is no longer just a 'Furby' that mostly just looks attractive. And this technology is already here in 'bits and pieces '
see
Please keep in mind the 'demographic' of a typical sex industry customer. In general, that customer wants sex without commitments. In general, that customer is capable of spending a few thousand dollars per year max. In general, the customer himself isn't all that physically attractive, and doesn't have a 'sparkling' personality. And we're not talking about love and long term relationships here !
Thus a Robotic Readoll might have a sizeable 'ready' market ... at the expense of strip clubs, escort agencies etc.

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
Existing dolls will be 'passive, if you will, but I doubt they can do a good blow job. Skin texture and appropriate resiliance of certain 'muscles' will be very important -- example tit sucking and the penetration feel. Still, I'd like to check it out for a week.
If there is enough volume, the price will decrease.

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
^ no its a futuristic sic-fi about the little robot boy who is programmed to love his grieving "mother"
-
Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
Another possibilities is that women (and men?) who would not be down with being hookers could be "drone hookers" in "doll brothels". They could remotely provide the voice and control the motions of the doll, in a more erotic way than the best AI could manage. Former dancers wouldn't have the looks advantage in getting drone hooker jobs over non-dancers. But they'd have the advantage of hard-won familiarity with male kinks.

Re: and you thought that automation was only a risk for factory workers ???
also there is a level of " exotic" you can get with a droid that humans cant, look at the custom twi'lek I posted in the other thread- which I'll put here again too

yes there is a market for near human/ xenophilia. twi'lek, asari etc etc Ive considered getting good powder airbrushing equipment and staining my skin cyan and doing a show as a pantoran ( also from star wars)
the thing is the versatility and customization options are through the roof..... and again I read it somewhere I need to find again but a few governments in the EU have already talked about totally legal droid brothels - while keeping flesh and blood ones illegal
