shady / thieving dancers
I'm fucking pissed! I'm sure some others on here can sympathize? In my 2 1/2 years of dancing I've prided myself on never losing a night's earnings. My sister used to drink and always lose her money and get things stolen from her. A couple of my friends have gotten money or belongings stolen (usually by not keeping track). I've had a few instances where I could've lost my money then remembered to grab my bag or whatever important belonging I had. My best friends used to always take off her rings (one of them having been passed down from her grandma) every time she used the bathroom and she left the bathroom without grabbing her rings once and when we went back they were gone. Luckily the dumb bitch who stole them put them right on so we located her immediately and got them back.
I've had a necklace that I took off in the dressing, forgot to grab, and never saw again (in hindsight I'm glad). But never lost money, until last night (I'M PISSED). I made all my money off my regular who came in. I ALWAYS keep my money on my thigh on a garter secured with a rubber-band. But of course I got drunk and started putting it in the clutch I carry my phone, make-up, etc. in, and at the end of the night after I'd gotten dressed and left my clutch wasn't with me. Called the club, it's not there. $700 was in it, along with all my stripper make-up (pretty much the only make-up I have) along with two travel cases of designer perfumes, ect. And the clutch I was carrying around was this cute little hideskin bag with handles, and was a fucking Christmas gift from my dad so it wasn't just a bag. And the $700 I made was exactly what I needed to pay a very important bill due this Tuesday. I'm SO heated. I'm usually so careful of my belongings, even when I drink.
I've caught a girl digging through my clutch before while I was on stage - my clutch was too, do these girls not have any comment sense to know that that behavior will be seen? But haha for her that I don't keep my money in my clutch (except last night of course). I've had girls try to steal outfits from me well I was onstage but I've always caught them.
This is at a mid-tier club, but one of the better ones by Detroit standards. Why the FUCK do some strippers have to be so shady? I remember one night I accidentally left a wad of money at a couple's table that I was taking to. As I frantically searched all over, the man of the relationship found me a nd brought me my money. I was so thankful.
My manager says he's going to review the tapes his next shift (Tues).
Am I alone here? Do any of you girls have experiences like this? Share 'em!

Re: shady / thieving dancers
That seriously SUCKS.
I once walked into work and had a girl hand me a bag full of my stuff and say "Sorry Audrey, we thought your locker was (insert hated stripper)'s so we busted it open. Don't worry, I didn't let no bitch take anything." And she couldn't understand why I was mad even though she apologized and didn't take anything.
Some women have no class.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
That's awful. It happens in even the nicest clubs though, because all it takes is one bad apple thinking short-term (like, yes, she got $700 from her theft, but it's not like she's going to be welcome back at the club when she gets caught, so she's closing her options of where to work). This happened at my club a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully the camera review does something, but I do hope you have an alternative way of taking care of that bill for not/just in case!

Re: shady / thieving dancers
Thanks ladies. I asked another one of my regulars to western union me $500 tomorrow and he is going to (thankfully). I told him my ID was in the bag so I didn't have to reveal my name lol. I also decided to working a day shift tomorrow. That + what I make on dayshift will be more thank enough and then I'll have the night to myself. I didn't even work tonight because I was too pissed. I need a couple days to regroup before working nightshift where I'll be working with the bitch who stole it.
Some strippers are just awful and yes, they lack class and even morals.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
I got my money bag cleaned out while doing a dance in a group lap dance room. There was only one other girl that came in and she was a junky. Simple math. I told management and they knew she did it but said, "We don't have cameras, so we can't prove it" What a great club! Later I learned that she'd stolen from plenty of other girls too, but they kept her on because she made the club $. Later on I went to a better club and during the interview I was clutching my backpack the whole time. The manager said, "You can leave that in the dressing room." I must have given him some kind of paranoid 'no way in hell' look, because he then said, "No, really, we have cameras in there. We don't let people steal." Well, holy shit! Later that same night I was working and when I was coming off stage I saw a girl sitting stage side digging through my bag. I was totally stunned- really too stunned to even get pissed because it was so out in the open and obvious. I leaned over her shoulder and calmly asked what she was doing. She froze and said, "Oh my god, this isn't your bag?" Her friend had told her she could bum a cigarette and our bags really did look identical. I was glad I didn't freak out because we ended up laughing about how absurd it would have been to be digging through someones stuff way out in the open.
You are handling it really well. I'm glad you found a way to meet your bills. And like you said in another post- YOU know how to make your own money! That other girl has way more to worry about.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
The worst theiving story I can remember: A friend of mine who is spanish (from spain) and speaks with a really heavy accent was working at a local club that appeared nice but was actually really rough. (She actually got me my job there..) I think the other girls assumed because she was foreign they could take advantage of her. So she was sitting at the bar one night and turned her head and turned back and her purse is gone and so is stripper #3. She freaked out because she actually had her passport in the bag! The got frantic and searched for it...found her bag, passport, everything but her $ dumped out in the toilets water tank. She got that stuff back and then somehow figured out where stripper #3's stuff was and dug through it and found her role of money exactly as she'd had it in her own purse. Basically she retreived all her stuff and went back out on the floor. Stripper #3 came raging at her, screaming, "Bitch, you stole my money!!" Even though she had stolen BACK her own stuff...really bizarre...she tried to defend and explain herself and management just saw it as arguing and threatened to fire both of them. I really felt bad for her- it's bad enough to be stolen from and intimidated, but somehow it seems like if it's happening in a foreign country it seems worse.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
It's horrible when you can't trust the people you work with, but it's a sad fact :(. I've had thigh high boots, outfits, make up, tan, funny money stolen from the stage and money stolen (from my locked locker!). Once, I had a cheap pair of surf shop flip flops stolen and had to walk out of the club in my "stripper heels". It's funny in retrospect, but it wasn't at the time!

Re: shady / thieving dancers
I've had clothes, expensive jewellery, cheap jewellery stolen. Money taken from my locker. A custie once stole the money he had just paid me (a regular!).
I've seen another girl walk out barefoot because someone stole her DC's. Known plenty of girls who've lost GHDs, tan, money etc.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
I purposely don't bring nice things with me to the club-- the clutch I carry around is $30 bag from Nordstroms, I don't wear any of my nice jewelry. But I do have a weakness... make up. I've had a lot of nice make up stolen from me over the years. I had a $75 Nars blush brush stolen from me my first week of stripping and I went and got a lock-up make up box (there were no lockers at the club). But sometimes I would forget to lock it if I was in a hurry and tons more make up was stolen from me at that club because there were no cameras so dumbass bitches just went wild there. The club I work at now has cameras and everyone is pretty good there, but the new club I worked at over the weekend I had my make up bag stolen, which probably had around $200 worth of make up in it.
I felt so bad for a girl at my club a few weeks ago... she was working and a customer stole $500 from her. She was dancing for him and had her back turned for a few songs and I guess she just put her clutch on the table next to the couch (I always put mine somewhere where they can't grab it). By the time she realized it he was gone. Fucked up!

Re: shady / thieving dancers
My suitcase locks but I don't take pricey items into the club anymore either.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
Yeah I used to always show up to work looking like a bum basically (PJ's, sweats, etc) so I wouldn't draw attention to myself. But now I am coming straight from school so sometimes I am wearing my UGGs or expensive denim because I do own several pairs of premium denim... I'm sure not all the thieves could squeeze their asses into my size 1 Trues, but I wouldn't put it past a girl to steal them even if they don't fit. So when I get to work and get ready I always hide my nice things, bury them at them at the bottom of my dance bag, etc. I also don't keep my money in my locker or my clutch (except it was in my clutch the one day my clutch got taken), I usually keep it on a garter on my leg secured tightly with a rubber-band. That way a girl would literally have to pull it off my leg to get it and that just ain't happening.
Today is the day my mngr says he will be looking at the tapes. We'll see if they reveal anything.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
How do you guys wrap your money securely around a garter? I tried that once and it fell off. I always stick it in my clutch (I'm psycho about watching it though, like I always have one hand on it unless I'm dancing!).

Re: shady / thieving dancers
This makes me paranoid! I have a clutch that has a latch on it. Would it look weird if I latched it on to my garter for lapdances lol

Once I have a certain amount the garter falls. My money bag never leaves me. Fck the locker or my locked suitcase. While giving a dance I always watch my bag. It goes with me to the restroom etc. I have always had this habit. My money bag never leaves me. In it is my license, my dancers permit, my phone, my money and my car keys. I feel those are the most important things. I simply can't work thinking ppl might have access to any of those things.
Thank god I don't drink anymore because I used to be relatively sloppy and forget my bag... =(

Re: shady / thieving dancers
I have to use a garter or I'll forget my money somewhere! Thankfully the girls are all close at my club, so a lot of times some of us will just leave our cash in our make up bags in the dressing room. No one really steals. There was a brief period where someone was stealing purses, though, and that was really awful :/

You fold the money in half around the garter (so the garter is in the middle of the money) and then put a rubber band around the money. That way it's very secure. You can find a tight garter that will stay on your leg, I'm like 105 lbs so my thighs are pretty slim and my garters stay on fine, except when I borrowed a friend's who was a lot bigger so hers was stretched out.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
I have had shit taken from me, Perfumes, hairdryer, outfits, makeup!, I got the most stuff stolen from my first club which was really high end, I means all girls were making money there was no need, I also worked in a place where a girl stole another drunk girls purse on the floor and they checked the cameras a few days later and fired her, I hope they find who stole your money and fire them.

Re: shady / thieving dancers
I'm sorry but if a bitch had the balls to steal my belongings OR money, I'd have to go on a killing spree.
-
Re: shady / thieving dancers
I remember last year some thieving skank got a very rude awakening when she was rummaging in my bag and one of my snakes bit her. Unbeknownst to me my boa constrictor had gotten out of his cage and stowed away in my bag. She had a hard time explaining why she was digging in my bag. ::)

Re: shady / thieving dancers
$220 to replace my make up from the bag that was stolen...
UGH! I didn't even quite buy everything, there was another MAC pigment bottle in there and two lipsticks but I don't use them that often so I figured I'd wait. I'm really trying to save for my move right now and the last thing I wanted to do was spend $220 on fucking make up!
-
Re: shady / thieving dancers
Yep and the sad thing is the things stolen were cheap things like toothpaste, deodorant and a hairbrush! Who steals that stuff? After that I made sure to only bring in some essentials and keep them in a purse I carried around. The other things I needed stayed in my car.
