i quit my job
I feel like I need a month long shower after working at that place. My first week (about 5 weeks ago) was amazing, so much fun and so much money. I'm not sure why things went downhill so fast, but I'm pretty sure I was working basically in a brothel. It got to the point where I would sit in the parking lot before my shift feeling overwhelming dread about what kind of assault I would have to fend off that night.
I understand that some customers don't get the whole strip club concept, but seriously I had many entire shifts where EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER thought I was a prostitute or didn't tip a dime and just wanted to date me OTC. I'm talking, guys who wouldn't buy a lapdance because it was a "rip off" if they didn't get to finger me. And guys who got upset and threatened to tell the manager that I wouldn't give them my phone number. I had a girl pull a guy's dick out at the table when we were doing a double and try to force me to rub it. I had a girl in the dressing room attack me out of nowhere (because I was standing beside her and she was shitfaced?), tear my bikini top off and rake her fingernails across my breasts. It was impossible to sell lap dances to the few real customers because dancers would get down off the stage and rub their ass in a guy's crotch, rub their crotch in his face, or let him suck their nipples for $1 on stage. Last night was the last straw when the DJ walked up and put his crotch against my thigh when I was sitting on a bar stool. I sort of pulled away and made an "I'm not happy" face, and his response was to laugh and put his hand on my inner thigh so that his finger brushed against my vagina. The fucking DJ did that.
And the worst part is that I was putting up with all that for NO MONEY. After my first week I haven't made more than $140 in a shift and they ask me to come in 6 days a week. Most days I do not leave with more than $60, and I have paid money out of pocket to work there three times. I could have made more this month as a cashier at McDonald's and NOT had a stranger's dick shoved in my face.
I just needed to vent all this out to some people who understand. I'm thinking about taking a week off and auditioning somewhere else next week. Please tell me most clubs are nothing like this!

Re: i quit my job
It sounds like you made the right decision. It is a good idea to take a small break to recover from this burn out and audition somewhere new (and hopefully better). Good luck :).

Re: i quit my job
This kind of pattern is what made me take an as-of-yet-indefinite sabbatical from dancing in Houston. Keep seeking out new clubs till you find a better one, because they're not all like that, but just like with anything people-related, you often have to wade through a lot of shit to find anything worthwhile. Good luck, and sorry you're having such a terrible time.

Yuckers.
Minimum wage is better than putting up with that kind of behaviour.

I am so sorry you had to deal with the abuse and assault from the customers and the DJ. Nobody is allowed to touch you inappropriately without your consent. Good for you for walking away from that situation!
