How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
I ask this because around here you have to have proof of income, but I know with camming, you are not going to make the same amount every day or every month. I have never rented an apartment before. I have been living with my boyfriend, but want to move out because his mom moved in after losing her job and her and I do not get along.
So, I know you have to have proof of income to rent an apartment. How do you prove that you make enough to rent an apartment being a webcam model?

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
Bank statements
sometimes had to call a friend or two to be a "co worker" in case they called
Yu can pay college students to act like a lifelong friend

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
If you're in a really nice Instant/Weekly pay program, they can write you income statements or employment letters on your behalf...
Bank statements generally work also if you're getting check or direct deposit.
The last time we had to show proof to an apartment we had just filed taxes and they took a copy of our 1040 (without the schedule C attached).

Does this work with buying house also?

Thank you. Everyone here is so helpful!

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
Bank staments and Streamate paystubs.

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
Buying a house is different it's based on income tax.
I just made my own job letters and used banks statements to get my current apartment been here for 5 years. You can pretty much estimate how much you will make over a period of 6 months.

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
Depends on who you're renting from; most property management companies don't give a FUCK what you do as long as you have a decent credit score and no prior evictions. Be ready to maybe furnish a bank statement. Keep your job in mind when selecting a place, though. I basically decided to turn down an apartment before even viewing it because the landlord was also the owner and started grilling me on the phone in a way that made me feel uncomfortable and irritated right off the bat. I hadn't even told her what I did in pertinence to employment yet (always be vague), but I knew that even if she did rent to me that she was most likely going to be an annoying helicopter landlord, which does not jive with my lifestyle. Consider the amount of foot traffic outside your unit if it's in a building, windows, etc. if you plan to cam in your house.
-
Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
lol @ annoying helicopter landlords...haven't had too many of those luckily, Usually the sit-on-their-fat-ass-at-the-other-end type if not completely absent (preferred)!
and yeah your question was already answered I guess...Some places will bitch about bank statements since so many job-havvers can easily provide paystubs....it's also preferable as nobody needs to see how many fro-yo or liquor store runs you make a week, etc....haha you should be fine if you're showing 2.5X the rent coming in each month. You may want to want to highlight the deposits so their eyes can find them easy.

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
Bank statements and tax forms. Job title- Private contracting doing affiliate marketing/sales, graphic design, etc. Anyone who is a private contractor, whether it's a tattoo artist or cam girl, etc, you WILL run into problems with things like loans or financing because finance companies/banks see private contractors as a high risk because they're not getting paid by an employer. As long as you have proof of STEADY income for a MINIMUM of 6 months, you should be fine :)

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
That's why you take a black marker & cover everything except the date you got paid :) then make another copy so it's not see-through.

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
tell them u r self employed and show them ur tax statement of how much taxes u paid. it should have ur income on that.
i bought a house and i used 2 years worth of tax statements to get my mortgage. i had no problems. also i said i was a web designer and not a cammodel. they did no checks.

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
When i applied for this apartment i had been living abroad for 10+ years so i had absolutely no credit to go on nothing. i told them i do web design as well and work from home i gave them a guesstimate of how much i make a month and said i would show them my bank statements if need be since i mostly use direct deposit. they never asked to see my statements but if you use online banking just do a search for the deposits only and print that out. that was my plan if i was asked to show. i was required to pay a larger than normal deposit.
they were happy with that and here i am building up good credit ;)

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
While none of the previous posters has specifically pointed this out, there are actually two different 'standards' for income verification toward obtaining credit approval for a lease. 'Corporate' landlords i.e. buildings owned by publicly traded corporations, Real Estate Investment Trusts, Securities and Exchange Commission registered Hedge Funds, etc. face income verification regulations similar to those of banks ... meaning that 3rd party 'proof of income' is required for self-employed persons. For self-employed persons, the best 3rd party 'proof of income' is past years' tax return filings, which clearly show reported annual income. Second best are check stubs or financial statements from a repeating 3rd party payer ( like StreaMates or a payment processing service ). Personal bank account statements aren't considered to be sufficient proof of income, because the actual source of the funds can't be identified.
Non-corporate landlords i.e. an upstairs apartment in a 'mom & pop' owned house, a privately owned apartment building etc. are NOT subject to these same regulations. As such, they will accept bank statements and/or anything else that is 'plausible' as sufficient proof of income.

^This!
And that's why it's important to file your cam taxes. (Even if you don't pay them right away LOL pay the 100 bucks to get them filed)

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
To buy a house, in the US (it may be somewhat different in Canada), it IS based on tax returns, you have to have been in the same line of work for the past two years- however credit score , credit history and verifiable income are also important factors. Be prepared in this economy to have a decent down payment (unless you can get an FHA loan which is only 3.5 % but you would need to have solid work history) figure something like 10 percent. A credit score of 620 min but you're better with 680-700 and no delinquent or late payments on credit cards, car notes, etc. That being said if you get actual CHECKS from web cam modeling, I wouldn't worry as they base this off of your year-to-date income and they will ask for you bank statements. FYI I have been working in the mortgage industry for the last five years since leaving dancing so I actually have a good grasp. Hope this helps!

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
^^^ There's also a new issue that prospective mortgage lenders must now evaluate the 'repayment risk' of every borrower. This translates into a recognition by bankers that certain 'careers' have a long and gradually increasing income potential all the way to retirement age ( like doctors, lawyers etc. ), while other 'careers' have a rapid rise to peak earnings potential, followed by a fairly rapid decline far before retirement age is reached. Thus sub-star level professional athletes and any similar 'careers' where peak earnings potential is likely to be hit within the first few years, but where viability in the same career at the same level of earnings is extremely unlikely 15-20 years on ( a.k.a. exotic dancers and camgirls ) will be viewed with hesitation by prospective lenders regarding the person's actual ability to repay, say, the last 15 years worth of monthly payments on a 30 year mortgage loan !!!

That is good to know. My husband and I have both have two jobs, and I was hoping to put a huge chunk of money down and lower our monthly payments. But I gotta make it first!

I recently got financing for a car (GOOD financing with 2-3% APR) so I can continue to build my credit. Due to laws that were enacted post-recession, they are required to verify income. You have to provide them with actual bank statements (payoneer doesn't count because it is prepaid) that they can call the bank and verify (so don't edit those!). And/or tax returns they can call the IRS and verify. And/or they have to fax your "employers" (even though we are self-employed) a form to fill out with your YTD income and when you started at the company(ies).
They don't fuck around though. Like they will only talk to your "employer" if they call from a google-able landline number and if it matches up on their company's website or business license. They will call your bank and the IRS and stuff. Pretty scary. But if you claim all your income, it should be no problem.
I would assume mortgage loan companies work very similar. I wouldn't let people on here scare you off with getting a mortgage while being a self-employed sexworker, because I know it could be done pretty easily with enough harassment (lol).

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
You bring the gloom and doom and the reality.. HOWEVER!!.. for those of you who feel completely hopeless from reading that , just remember you have options... and I really do not think it's that clear cut and dry.. everyone wants to make money.. So what!.. you are a camgirl.. you can buy a house.. if you and your income dries up and you have to go back to vanilla work, your single, you have nothing and no one.. so what .. sell the house and buy a condo.. whatever!.. you don't stay in the same house for 30 yrs .. that's old school.. OR you can rent it out and hire a property management company and still OWN the house but not be fully responsible for the mortgage.. and most mortgage companies only expect you to have 6 months mortgage payments in the bank to rent out your property as investment income... Nothing is hopeless.. JUST TRY!! no matter who says no.. because I read this and I am sorry melonie.. I feel like dying inside.. and I did buy a house being a single camgirl with 2 kids with no money down.. 7 yrs ago.. so it's possible.

Re: How do you rent an apartment being a webcam model?
I should also add that they can only verify income from U.S. companies. They will refuse otherwise. However, companies like MFC, C4S, and SM (partially) are technically based in the U.S. However, other companies like AW, ImLive, & even studios like Dailypay, are not. If you use a studio to verify your income, they are required to have a business license, a brick & mortar line, and a fax line. They also need to exist for more than 2 years.
I'm just going by what they told me over the phone based on my own experience.

Renting an apartment/condo as a cam girl
So I am a full time cam girl and I currently live with my bf of 7 years well..ex now. I got dumped couple days before Christmas and he said I could still live there til I saved money to get my own place. My question is..is it easy to get accepted in an apartment or condo. I'm actually looking at a few condos that are in my price range for rent. Btw, this will be my first time getting a place on my own. I just need some advice. I have heard its hard for cam girls. What do you tell them when its asked about your job?
