in the end the ultimate goal is reached and all of us feel cheated :D
To quote a lovely friend of mine on Tumblr:
"When non sex workers talk about sex workers ‘selling their bodies’, I grit my teeth.
When you pay your therapist’s invoice, do you expect to take her body away with you?
When you pay your gardener’s bill, do you expect them to leave their body next to your flowers?
When you give your change to the bus driver, do you take her body with you when get off the bus?
YOU ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE AND YOU ARE NOT ORIGINAL OR ENLIGHTENED WHEN YOU OBJECTIFY SEX WORKERS AND REDUCE THEM TO AN ACTUAL SEX TOY.
YOU PAY FOR PRIVILEGE TO SPEND AN HOUR WITH ONE OF US, AND YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT TO GIVE YOU, AND YOU DON’T TAKE ANYTHING BUT AMAZING MEMORIES AWAY WITH YOU."
from a logical standpoint, the 'dotted line' difference falls at the point where bodily fluids are exchanged !!!
From a legal standpoint, it varies from state to state as to whether actual physical contact between 'seller' and 'buyer' is a necessary component for an act of prostitution to take place.
I've sold my body to science. Seriously. When I die, I have arranged that my body be sold to a local teaching hospital and/or for scientific research and my family will receive a payment of $20k from the teaching hospital.
I've sold plasma before and donated blood.
Aside from that, I sell sexually charged entertainment. My body is my own. I'm no one's property.
Anyone who says "you're selling your body" is just too anal retentive to say "You're a sex worker."
At work when guys ask "how much, and what's the tiket cost?" i tell them i don't sell it, rent it, or loan it. But if i want to i will why becuase it's mine. We can do whatever it is we choose with our "merchandise". There will always be someone who wants to purchase and if we choose to make a trasaction shit who cares. I've heard the "everytime you sleep with someone you lose a piece of your soul", well you better leave a good impression and good feeling too dammit.
^ wtf people actually say that? you lose a piece of your soul? sayings like that make me want to repeatedly bash my face onto a table. or bash theirs. repressed doesnt even begin to describe it. more like scared shitless of something as natural as sex.
im sorry but i never feel as good, happy, and refreshed as i do after a good orgasm.
Tourd, i was just going to say that too! people who ACTUALLY sell their bodies ( or sperm, eggs, organs) aren't shunned though. so that's obviously not where their problem lies.
I dont feel any different than any other work I do, marketing, etc. Men can say Im a piece of meat, dont care, my head is way above all the games.. they will be back..
One thing great about nature is men keep getting horny!!

FOR REAL. You lose a piece of your soul from Horcruxes, not sex.
I too hate the "selling your body" phrase. I'm not selling my body, because at the end of the night it's still mine. Fuck those people that think they're the ultimate authority on whether or not my body belongs to me.
I've been dancing 9 years and my mother still tells me this (or something similar), on an almost weekly basis.
"You're selling your soul", or "you're selling your body," and other cliche statements people use.
She reasons that because I'm "selling my body", dancing means I am a prostitute. (Um,no....?)
Even if I were escorting, since my body is MINE, that would be my decision anyway.
This is part of the reason I don't talk too much to my mom.
^^^ Yup, I heard a lot of people saying unreasonable cliche things like that. Either that or dignity crap. I remember they use to try to scare me with the virginity stuff, saying that if you have sex before marriage you lose your dignity or your "glow" and you will never be the same again.
It piss me off, specially when it comes from woman. What the hell, you still the same, I felt no difference. Is all bullshit.
But people are like, they wouldn't think twice about taking your hard earned money, but will be quick to talk shit about how you make your money.
It makes me sad that we naturally hyper sexualize women, but when women take advantage of that, we shame or pity them. We act as though sex is dirty when it's not between two monogamous, loving people, as though any other kind of sex taints a woman and makes her lesser. That's what makes a bacterial infection of the genitals that is equivalent to one of the lungs or skin "dirty" and embarrassing in contrast, which is ridiculous. It's what makes it acceptable for people to say that a promiscuous girl who gets raped was not viably raped, but was asking for it.
Sex sells on billboards, in every advertisement in all media, and it's deemed appropriate. But when sex sells in person, via lap dance, stage, cam, or escorting, everyone loses their shit because HOW DARE A WOMAN PROFIT FROM A SEXUAL EXPERIENCE?
The whole "selling your body" thing has always confused me. I was a prostitute for years and yet I still have full ownership of my own body. I wonder how that works? LOL
