Does the quality of customers change club to club?
I'm curious, I've worked at one club since I started dancing in April and I'm sick of the people that come in. There is a nice mix of people, but for the most part they are ghetto or Mexican and most have a poverty mentality. A lot of guys come in to stare for free. Other than that, I love the club. The DJ plays the kind of music I like, the staff is great, the club is set up really well. I'm just sick of these nasty freeloaders who come in to "chill" and drink beer and watch. Like when I ask for tips, they get upset as if they don't realize where they are and that I have the audacity to ask. Not all of them are like this, but I'd say it applies to 75% of the people that come in.
I'm wondering if it's like this everywhere or if it differs depending on the club.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
it definitely differs! at my club everyone expects to tip, at least 95% of them do, at least regarding the stage. after dances/VIPs they often tip without being prompted as well. club clientele usually differs depending on the crowd the owners cater to. if they're constantly advertising "free admission," "free buffet," or "2 for 1 tuesdays" i usually stay away because they're catering to a cheap crowd.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
clientele is ABSOLUTELY different depending on the club. clubs cater to different kinds of people, with the prices, decor, dancers, atmosphere, and location
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Yes! Sounds like you're at a pretty low end spot. Try high-end !!
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Definitely changes! The club that I work at caters to a high-end clietele-- when people come in there they are planning on spending. Weekend-free loaders and bachelor parties aside, my club's customers plan to spend $100+. So, if there are customers I know I can get someone to dance with me.
I've worked at other clubs in LA and been surprised by the fact that the club was busy but I couldn't get any dances... it's "fake busy" with customers who don't plan to spend. Clubs like that usually offered a lot of specials or had a big sliding scale when it came to cutting down on prices if the customer planned to buy more than a couple dances. I don't do well in places like that because cheap, ghetto customers just aren't into me-- my hustle doesn't work on them-- and I get frustrated when they won't spend and it gets me in a bad mood which also doesn't appeal to me.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Ghetto customers don't like me either. I do okay, but I can't relate to the people that come in. Not my style. Definitely going to a better club. God, I can't believe I've stuck around at this one for so long. I guess it has been entertaining.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
This sounds like my club to a T. And I'm about to head to greener pastures as the mid-tier in my town because I can't stand it much longer either. I've been 'riding it out' for months now. :/
I hope that you find a club that has good, spending clientele and the best of luck to you. I don't really have much advice to offer but I'm close to your area so I feel your pain.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Abso-freakin-lutely.
Some of the clubs here are known for mostly broke college kids, some for car salesmen that drop cash easily, some for the loooong hustle old guys that go to the VIP... Totally depends.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Low class customers suck and yes they vary. I've worked in clubs with free buffet, free admission and no drink minimum (or relatively cheap drinks)and it meant cheap customers. I've seen customers come in for the free buffet, get one non alcoholic drink and not tip at all. The sick irony is I got yelled at because I refused to go topless for the cheap fucks sitting at the stage and not tipping. Why should I, they aren't paying? These clubs tend to go through dancer and often end up closing or with dancers who are really hookers or those so unattractive they can't go anywhere.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Obviously everyone has addressed your question about customers varying. Maybe you can try a different city?? You did state that you liked everything else about the club though. Maybe its the shifts you are working or maybe its the look or music you are using.... I worked at a shitty dive club for a long time because they have very few pretty girls that looked like me and I stood out. Yes you have to hustle a bit more but being a big fish in a small pond can also have its perks.

Hahaha, definitely this. My club is like the starter club for dancers in the state, I really have no idea why I've stayed so long. Most girls move on after a couple months. We do have a few hookers. We get yelled at when no one is tipping us and we don't take off our tops, too. And, we do have a lot of beat up looking girls, I'm one of the ones who gets tipped the most on stage because I don't have a gut, lmao. I'm just done with the nasty customers, on to the fucking next!!
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Yeah you are better off leaving because it will not get better. I tried to make it work at this one club but ghetto customers usually means more of them and soon that's all that comes in. A few dancers looked at as a way to lose weight by dancing or learning pole tricks but I already had a gym membership and knew how to do tricks so I didn't need the training.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
Depends on management. Even upscale clubs sometimes let the garbage roll in. Find a club where you like the management too.
Re: Does the quality of customers change club to club?
fuck yeah- customers change from club to club. To the point where, if youve been at the same club your whole career, you couldnt even have imagined the difference, in a good way!
