I've had the weekend from hell with my boss at the renaissance fair here and need to vent, and it gave me this thread idea... remind ourselves how awesome we have it to NOT have regular bosses.
So. This woman blames me for everything that doesn't go peachy - sales are apparently down from last year and she threatened to "fly out from Michigan and do it herself", like I could somehow influence sales of t-shirts at a merch booth and wasn't doing it. The other morning I found my lock gone and a couple shirts missing, and she insinuated how "suspicious" it was that "someone would cut a lock and steal 2 shirts". Uhhh maybe they were looking for the cash drawer? Maybe that's why all my shit was disheveled? Absolutely infuriated me though; I had to file a police report and waste half my morning, and she acts like I'm guilty.
She bombards me with texts and calls; I get off at 6 and often can't escape her until 9 because she has to question shit I already explained in my daily recap that she didn't see/read, wants to hang on the phone bugging me about sales and what happened all day, blah blah blah. Her inventory system is a pain in my ass and makes it hard to add things up, yet she won't let me do it my way. Everything adds up right when done my way but the minute I put it in hers it gets fucked up somehow. Insists on me doing it by hand and sending her a pic of it, then bitches when she can't read it and makes me do an Excel sheet of it.
On top of this, she initially told me (since I was the only one manning a booth for 8 hours) to just lock up the cash and take it along if I went to the bathroom or something. Apparently you can't do this; the festival producer found out and was annoyed at her for only scheduling one person to work an 8 hour day; but of course shit rolls downhill, so after she got in trouble, she acted like she didn't know I was doing it and bitched at me. What do you want me to do, lady, piss in a bucket?
So yeah, needless to say I am about to hit send on my resignation email and I've already mailed all her shit back to her (with a bazillion receipts/photos/videos of me doing it so she can't claim I didn't do it.. I have a feeling she doesn't trust anyone). I even took money out of my pay to reimburse her for the missing merchandise just to avoid any further drama with her (even though I had no control over it). Gah.
Who's got a good horrible boss story?
