Doppelganger, need advice?
So there's this dancer who was working at my club before I started there last year just after she lost her job due to being underage (she is of age now, she used someone else's ID to get the job originally). She returned tonight and while she seems alright attitude-wise, here's the issue: We look very similar. Short white-blonde hair, pale skin, skinny frame, same height, tattoos (granted in different places), facial piercings, almost the whole sha-bang. The only difference is our dancing style, and music choice. Otherwise. even the people I work with would have confused us for one another when she was onstage. I really don't want to have to dye my hair or alter anything permanently, but I need to do something to make it easier to differentiate.
We're not good enough acquaintances for me to ask her to do a 'twin hustle'.
What would you guys recommend I do so customers don't confuse us for one another? Should I switch up my look or just own that shit?
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
I have worked with so many girls that I looked like-- not so much anyway because I'm a redhead, but when I was blonde there were two girls who were the same age as me, same height, same build, etc. It never bothered me to be honest.
If it really bothers you though and you don't want to have to do anything drastic, I would try dressing differently than she does, doing your hair in a different style, and maybe taking out your facial piercings.
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
It doesn't really bother me so much as I guess I've never had it happen before, generally I look different from everyone. lol it was just quite a shock at first, and i think it was to her as well.
I had a few customers ask me if she was my sister. I guess there's a first time for everything
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
If you really don't want to change anything just get to know her and work the twin/ sister hustle. The easiest thing to change is your hair - wash-in wash out dies in light colors mean you can be blonde/ pink/ lilac etc relatively easily.
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
^ True, I was considering picking up some hair chalk/temporary color and just adding more contrast to my hair temporarily. I'm not usually one for team hustles but if we end up getting along, I'll try to hint at it in the future.

Personally speaking, I'd try to work with the other girl to make your looks as identical as possible, and then 'market' yourselves together as 'sisters' !!!

XD I would if I could afford the surgery and healing time. I love the way they look
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
I don't think that's a bad thing! When I first started at my home club, many girls and customers first saw me and thought I was this other dancer. I actually had one customer get testy with me because he kept insisting that I was her even though I said I wasn't. Very odd.
In any case, we both had a similar look, but also similar musical taste, dancing style, and even facial expressions on stage. When I finally saw her, I really didn't think we looked all that alike, but I think it worked to both of our advantages since my customers tended to also like her and vice versa! Of course, we rarely worked the same shifts, so I could see it being less of a positive thing if you're always working together.
If you do work together, Melonie has the right idea on playing up your similar appearance by selling duos! You're not good enough acquaintances yet, but surely she's also noticed the similar appearance, so next time you're working together and there's a table of two guys, ask if she wants to approach with you as twins or whatever.
If you're opposed to that and it's really and truly affecting your earnings to get confused for each other, come up with a signature look - maybe thigh highs, a certain hairstyle, whatever, just something that will make you stand out from her that you can always wear/do.

I forgot where you are but if you have a slow season save your money and take time off then.
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
If I've ever had a doppelganger I just look at it like this: some people will buy cheap ass knockoffs. I'm the quality original. ::)
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
Most people have a strong aversion to incest. Why pretend to work with a sister? To punish assholes by grossing them out? I used to work with a mother-daughter team and it was WEIRD.
If you work with someone who looks like you, just make sure you're hotter. Or just clip in some long hair or something.
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
My sister and I danced together, never did we do anything that would qualify as incest, but we would do stages together or hit up groups together. We made more money working as a team than working separate. We looked alike and dressed the same.
If I were you I would really look into suggesting working with her as sisters.
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
unfortunately, when it comes to guys, two hot sisters do not qualify as "incest" to them, or if it does its "hot". SOOO many guys have a hot twin sister fantasy, its extremely common
Re: Doppelganger, need advice?
The double hustle thing is out of the question, apparently she's a very well-known extras girl and she doesn't play well with other at all. :(
This makes me kind of sad, but it's probably for the better.
I would rather not take the chance of double dancing with her and getting busted for being in the VIP when extras are going down, guilty by association and all that.
