Honestly both of managers are kinda bullies too. I have no choice but to work with them, so I generally just avoid contact with them as much as I can. If I have to talk to them, I try to keep it brief and polite, and not do anything that will elicit the grump.
Sucks he wouldn't let you leave. That sounds pretty ridiculous...
Did you end up leaving early? If not, yeah, just go in and pretend like nothing happened.
Going forward, you really only have 2 options: (1) Do your best to avoid this manager, either by working shifts he isn't at the club or just trying to steer clear of him when he is there -- meaning no asking for favours or anything since there's clearly no point; or (2) Switch clubs.
The sad reality is that you can't change him or get rid of him; all you can control is how you react to him. If you know you can't expect any favours from him, you won't be disappointed when he doesn't deliver any.
Just say something like, "That's fine, I understand. I know what kind of pressure you are under. Sorry to be a bother." And then just wait the 5 minutes until it's time to check out. I suspect that managers are very rarely shown any deference by the dancers they manage. They need to be treated as a mark to be worked not unlike how you treat the customers. Showing a little empathy towards the managers will go a long way toward getting preferential treatment down the road.
I learned how to suck up to my professors in college, and use the same kind of technique when seeking privilege with club managers and DJ's. Also, it helps to grease the wheels ($$) just prior to asking for a favor. :)
Yea, I missed this..but, most bullies want a reaction, this & wht Shanna said
