Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I was trying to adjust the settings for 2 hours, but for some reason, I can not get it to look right.
My eyes are very blue in real life, but on this cam, they look brown, and my fake tan is not showing up. I look paler than I am. I think I'm just dumb. After two hours, I still can't get the quality to look good. Ugh, so frustrating.
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I can't get my c910 to look right either, but it's not as bad on my partner's laptop as it is on mine. We have 2 c920's at home and both look different on my laptop and different on my partner's laptop. So they're hugely variable on all counts.
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
had the same problem but corrected it by adding more lights...purchased 2 floor standing paper lamps one is white the other is a kind of dark sandy color and my best guess is that the added light and the sandy lamp gave me a great looking tan and picture quality...
if you want an even easier fix go on e-bay and get a quick cam pro 9000 you can get new or used, get 2 used one is bound to work....
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I have been using the c920 for some time now and I can confirm all the issues. Things that helped me:
1. Bright light. I am using two softboxes. The c920 needs bright light, otherwise it tries to adjust the image until your room looks bright. I hate that feature.
2. Always use the same lighting. If you change it or daylight interferes, the cam starts to adjust the image automatically.
3. Go to advanced settings and take some time to find the perfect setting, than save it, so you don't have to redo it every time. It's really quite difficult to figure out a decent calibration :-\
Would I buy the c920 again? Absolutely NOT.
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I was just having issues with my 9000 yesterday and was considering getting a 920.... maybe not now?
My 9000 was driving me nuts yesterday! Every time I paused or restarted my stream it would switch to super dark and I'd have to redo all the settings. And then it would keep flashing between really dark and really light. There was a point where I couldn't adjust it to look right at all.
So if the 9000 has issues and the 920 has issues... should I get a 930? I'm confused :(
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I'm happy with my c920, but not with my c910. The c930 is even more widescreen than the c920 and I wouldn't buy one. My c920 is a lot better than my 9000.
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I hate widescreen. People are vertical, nor horizontal, dammit!
Anyways I'm gonna try re-installing the drivers for my 9000 and see if that fixes it. Anyone else who's having issues should probably try the same, maybe that'll help?

Right? In widescreen I only ever take up ~20% of the horizontal space, it's ridiculous. Yeah the five feet of empty space on either side of me is sooooooo sexy.
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I loved my 9000. It made my eyes look so blue. But the microphone broke so I bought a C615 and a 920. I actually don't have an issues with my 920, but I am a pale redhead and it makes my skin look even more pale, which works for me, so maybe that's why? I do miss the vivid colors of the 9000 though.
I just got 2 umbrella diffusers for lighting and they work well with my 920. Not so much with my 615. I still haven't worked out the lighting with that one yet.
If it's not too much to ask....
Can some of the girls that use the Logitech c920 post screenshots of what you have your advanced settings set to? I am having a horrible time trying to get this cam to look right, I've been trying for two days now.
Re: If it's not too much to ask....
I don't use the 920 but just saying that it won't be the same for you as others depending on your lighting, level of daylight, direction of light, colour of your walls/sheets/clothes, and personal preferences. I adjust throughout the day!
Ps: it really pisses me off when I get a new cam as it literally takes me days to figure out how it looks best. It's very frustrating!
Ps: depending on your site, if you can check yourself streaming, base your adjustments on that. On Streamate I find my colours look very different on my streaming page and on my encoder preview.
Re: If it's not too much to ask....
Its a pain but its best too adjust it everyday . Yesterday my skin looked warmer , today I was glowing I looked so white ...had to shut all my lighting off and adjust my settings.
Re: If it's not too much to ask....
I honestly have never touched my advanced settings on my C920. I don't even know how LOL. I adjust my lighting every night though.

Provided you have the Logitech software installed, advanced settings should come up by clicking on the spanner.

I don't touch them either. I have tried but never can get them right.
Re: Why can't I get the Logitech c920 to look right?
I used to have annoying color problems with my c920 cam with artificial lighting.
And even worse when recording videos.
Using a softbox (or 2, depends on your room size) fixed my issue. Now my colors are perf and you can finally see my green eyes. My face features stands out more, naturally.
Adding a golden filter to the softbox will help too.
Re: If it's not too much to ask....
I just got the c920 and the first couple times I drove myself crazy adjusting those settings trying to get it perfect. Eventually I said "fuck it". I reset everything to default settings and left it alone. Lol. Seems to be ok. No one has complained. I did have to turn off the real light or whatever it's called because it makes my bit rate drop in the encoder. Couldn't get above 600. Now its 802 average and spikes up to like 1025 occasionally.
Re: If it's not too much to ask....
Another vote for default settings... I've tried messing around with it but it always makes it look worse. I just keep my room well lit and the default settings seem to work well.

um.. only thing in settings i mess with is taking off the auto focus.. i also use those clippy lamps from walmart and use daylight bulbs. one is clipped to my window sil and lamp poined upwards facing the back wall and there is another on a tripod directly behind my laptop kinda facing me. *side note* had no clue the pic is that big.. and alsp ive noticed reg light bulbs/the soft white ones always give off this yellowish hew when filming.. so i use daylight bulbs

I do this too. I always get guys trying to nab me right away when I log in and I'm always saying "Gimme a second.. adjusting colors and stuff".
The best thing to do if you have the ability, is to use another computer (I use a laptop) and a user account (the hubby's) and adjust so it looks best on that screen, not your monitor.

I've had the best luck with color on my 920 by using warmer CFL bulbs in my light kit. I bought this kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lighting-Kit...item2c74214eb7 and just ditched the bulbs it came with and use giant 300watt (only uses 60ish watts) CFL that has a fairly warmish tint (2700K me thinks). The super neutral (around 5500K) wash me out BADLY! The big CFL bulbs I got from Home Depot.
