But, I have always been curious as to whether we see something more when we die or if that's the end of everything.
Have you ever had a near death experience? If so, what did you see?

I was clinically dead for over 3 minutes ... does that count ?
At the time, I didn't see s#!t ! However, I began to see lots of 'strange' things afterwards.
Brains do weird things when they're in altered states or semi-functional, so I don't really think these experiences are evidence one way or the other.
One of my favorite examples is sleep paralysis, which can occur while a person is falling asleep or starting to wake up. Some portions of the brain are still behaving the way they do during REM sleep, so many people experience vivid hallucinations (often a person or monster sitting on top of them and pinning them to the bed). This happened to me a few times in my teens, and it certainly seems real. The visual cortex is highly active while you're dreaming, so in this state - where the visual cortex is actually receiving real information (because the eyes are open) AND doing the sort of processing it does when we dream - it seems like you really are seeing whatever imagery your brain creates to explain why you can't move.
Similarly, when the brain starts shutting down, is physically traumatized, or is altered by medication or even really large doses of natural neurotransmitters (e.g. due to an extremely stressful or painful situation), you can expect weird experiences.
Come to your own conclusions, of course, but that's my take. :)
^funny you say that, i've been suffering from sleep paralysis a lot lately!
anyways, they also say that when you die your brain replays your life back like watching a movie for around 7 minutes i think. a person would have to be dead for awhile and then come back for us to get a good picture of what the after life is like.
i've had near death experience, the lights got really bright and everything went fuzzy, but that's about it
sorta related? maybe - i had a really messed up dream once - it was my house but it was in another state and city - cincinnati ohio - me and my boyfriend at the time got murdered in the house - details to long to recount but i woke up screaming and terrified - i rarely ever dream or remember them if I do - 3 days later he got a job offer in Cincinnati - I told him hell no I wasn't going - so we ended up in Phoenix :)
I wouldn't call it an NDE, but prior to being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, my bp plummeted during some simple oral surgery, and it was certainly one of the most bizarre experiences I've ever had.
I have had tons of sleep paralysis and the last time which was about three years ago I felt like I was being choked by a black cloaked figure and I could see him and my dresser in front of me and my walls and pictures etc.. but not being able to move at all. In this dream state I had somehow managed to pick my phone up and tried to dial 911 but realized my fingers would not move and I got pissed and threw the phone at the wall on the right of my room. I finally woke up with the blankets on the floor where I had clearly tried to fight it and the cell phone on the right side of the bed and a chipped paint spot where it had hit the wall. That was really crazy and I am scared to have it happen again.
Haven't had any near death experiences. I mean I passed out during an asthma attack, but I didnt see anything. But I DO have sleep paralysis very frequently. Its scary as hell but Im so used to it now, I just think to myself "here we go again" when I feel it coming. Sleeping on your back can trigger it.
I slept on my stomach once but it still happened and I was getting choked. After the "session" ended, I could still feel the hand prints around my neck. blahhhhh
It really makes me wonder if all those tales about sleep paralysis being "The witch riding your back" are true.I have seen the demon like things and I have seen the goblin skeleton like things and I have felt I was being choked and suffocated like someone was pulling the covers over my head I have fought to pull them down. It is very strange to know that we are awake in that period but our body is still dreaming still though why can't we be dreaming about swimming or flying why is it always choking and suffocation hmmm.
well let me put it this way ... my Tarot Card readings ( for myself and other people ) now seem to be incredibly accurate !Quote:
Can I ask what?
I get sleep paralysis a lot, that shit sucks. Any related hallucinations don't tend to be scary on the level some of you are describing though!
Anyone here read "Return From Tomorrow"? FASCINATING after-death experience account of someone who was dead for a long time. Woke up in the transfer room with a sheet over him long.
That is scary and a few of those seem to relate to me ^. It is very strange if it is a dream then why am I awake if my brain is awake and I am obviously then how does this happen is my body dreaming? So weird.
Near death experiences can be tied to abnormal temporal lobe functionality and is similar to the effects of lucid dreaming . It's a cool phenomenon but it's not god. If you want to experience an NDE look up lucid dreaming. I am slowly becoming a lucid dreamer myself and find the trips very interesting .
