Extensions, extensions, extensions
So, I used to have Great Lengths which were every bit as amazing as you would imagine. Hair care was sooooo easy, it wasn't much different from my hair as far as upkeep, and that's saying a lot since my hair is super thin and mildly frizzy (note each hair is not thin, I just don't have much of it). I never had to oil them, I just colored every two weeks and used Frederic Fekkai Technician Color Care products to maintain.
Now I'm not working as much so I wanted a cheaper solution, and I moved from Chicago to Las Vegas, so bear in mind that might be having an effect on my current hair problem.
So, my new hairdresser uses Bohyme hair and we did install with shrinkies. My problem is, the tangles never atop! I can't wear my hair down except for appointments because it tangles so fast its unbelievable. I've tried all different products with no good results. Oils and serums absorb immediately but are very greasy at first, so I have to add more constantly which is crazy, especially because cheaper oils absorb faster. I'm trying out a cheaper cream today hoping for better results. Oh and I always have 22" lengths in, and the split ends are definitely worse than with the Great Lengths
Anyway. Can anyone help? Basically I'm wondering if anyone can confirm my theories, which are abundant and varied.
Theory Number One: its not Great Lengths and that's just it, $12k/year hair looks and acts amazing because it is amazing
Theory Number One: they just need more moisture.
Theory Number Two: Bohyme hair isn't as nice as it could be and I should invest in a better brand (my stylist makes the strands herself so this is a doable option)
Theory Number Three: the extension hair, which is fiber than mine hair, is just the wrong texture (I am scared to start experimenting with that, but I will if I have to, le sigh)
Help please!

I made the mistake of getting cheap extensions, it's all just hair right? It really isn't. I used tons of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny on the extensions only. It made them so much more manageable. No constant tangles or dry crispy ends. It's a easy fast was to salvage cheap extensions.

I'll second that! Although I don't have extensions, my hair is very long -- on a trip to LV, it turned into a dry, tangled mess. Normally, it's fine, but it was the total lack of humidity in Nevada that did it. The only thing that would help was a really moisturizing conditioner (Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner) that would turn it from velcro back to something resembling soft and smooth.
