Doxing to Shame Women for being....Women?
There's dudes who live to come on a site like this, copy our photos, then publish all the personal identifying info they can to SHAME us out of posting pics. Cray cray! Oh and one HATES men showing crack and takes secret photos of said offensive butt crack and shames the to the world! What a tool.
(snip)A bunch of Reddit and 4chan dudes have apparently made it their personal mission to dox women whose photos end up online, whether intentionally or not, to, once again, “teach them a lesson.” Sometimes this means doxing women who purposefully upload sexy photos of themselves to subreddits like r/gonewild, and sometimes this means doxing women whose email accounts get hacked or who get photographed without their knowledge or consent. The reason all this stuff has caught my attention isn’t just the sexism and body-shaming it often entails, but the circular reasoning of it–something I’ve noted about these types before. We’ll punish you for putting photos of yourself online because it’s a stupid thing to do. Putting photos of yourself online is a stupid thing to do because we’ll punish you for it.
These two seemingly unrelated phenomena might not seem to have much in common at first: one involves “hot” women and the other involves “ugly” (or, at least, “gross” or “disgusting”) men, one involves doxing and the other does not, one involves shaming people for committing what most consider at least a faux pas and the other involves people simply existing and having bodies.
But there are a lot of similar themes, too: the self-righteous vigilantism, the use of shaming as a disciplinary tactic, the insistence that the targets “deserved” or “asked for” what they got, the creepy obsession with people’s bodies and what they do with those bodies, the indignation at something that’s frankly none of anyone’s business.

The MRAs always feel threatened by women who are confident/independent enough to make nontraditional sexual choices. These men feel like they're losing ownership, it makes them mad, and then they try to reassert their power by kicking the women down again. It serves the same purpose as all sexual harassment- "Haha, your body is still mine!"
Some men are so afraid of feeling powerless that when their entitlement to women/money/power etc. is challenged, they will take whatever douchey steps they feel they need to reassert themselves. It's sad for them.

You're reading to much into it starlilly; this isn't that deep. It's simply a bunch of insecure losers who can't get girls getting back at a world that they feel owes them something.
Re: Doxing to Shame Women for being....Women?
Almost Jaded you are talking about the same thing starlilly is!
"Feeling the world owes you something" is the sense of entitlement that starlilly is talking about. As she said, when they dont get what they THINK they are entitled to they lash out at women.
Yes it really is that deep, even if you dont see it.

That's actually just a paraphrase of what I said. Guy feels powerless/insecure and becomes angry & retaliates when something he feels entitled to starts to slip out of his control.
Re: Doxing to Shame Women for being....Women?
WHat I meant about reading too much into it, is your going off about the entitlement to "women/money/power" - referencing the old "glass ceiling" mentality. The guys in question aren't the type who had any of that to begin with, and women aren't holding them back from it, either. They're just striking out at a convenient target. If they could find a way to turn cat memes into a negative, they'd move on to that, lol.

I hope we'll be seeing a huge crackdown on doxing. The fight against revenge porn might help take us there - a number of states are considering legislation against it, and a woman recently won $500k in a civil suit after being victimized online by her ex.

Nope nope nope. Not referencing the glass ceiling. Those were just examples of things people have entitlement issues about, things that will make the "owner" freak if they're tampered with because it would ruin his feeling of adequacy. Some guys make up for their insecurity problems by accumulating so much money that they break the world economy. For the losers we're talking about here, it's keeping their authority over women.

They still grew up with porn, media, and video games that still enforces the entitlement mind set of women/money/power. They dont have to have it at all. They just have to grow up with the expectation that is what being a man is about. They never put in the work to get it but they still feel entitled to it all anyway. When they dont get it they feel powerless and the lash out at the very thing they want. Especially when the woman has the money and power they think they deserve.
psychology is so interesting ;D

^Unfortunately, this is true in most cases. Their bitterness is understandable, but targeting and humiliating innocent strangers isn't. Put any bitter, insecure person between a computer screen and they are going to do something similar-it's easy to be "brave" with anonymity on your side. They should be publicly "shamed" for "shaming".
