Retired dancer thinking of returning
Hey guys! I've been lurking around these forums for about a week and ohmygosh I wish I had known about this during my past dancer career! SO much good info. So much I wish I'd known before.
I started dancing when I was 24 until I was 26. I quit two years ago when I met the love of my life, moved, got married and had a baby. I was dancing when I was dating my husband and he was fine with it. He even came to my club once and bought a lapdance...It was super hot. When I moved to his city I tried to continue dancing but I was completely burned out on it, decided to take a break and got pregnant in the meantime! :p
I've been staying at home with our baby, taking college classes and working different SHITTY jobs. Seriously..those "REAL" jobs that are supposed to give me "dignity" are crap. I've tried retail, serving and the worst--fast food..I miss dancing. It was the only job I've ever had-other than being a secretary-that I enjoyed. Even being a secretary was boring compared to dancing...and there are so few office jobs where I live. Plus I would rather work nights so I can be with my baby during the day.
I'm due to graduate in 2ish years (sooner if I go full time this summer) so I was thinking of dancing at a club far off from where we live, until then.
Hubby isn't a huge fan of the idea but says it's my choice and he'll support me no matter what. My only hang up right now is the baby weight. I've lost most of it--but still have about 10-15 extra pounds mostly in the belly and thighs. I guess I could get some outfits to camouflage it until I'm back in shape. I lost weight SUPER fast when I was dancing before and was in the best shape of my life. I'm 5'4 and weighed about 115 when I quit dancing before. Now I'm about 130 :(
Any thoughts from other married/new mommy dancers? Anything I'm not considering?
I appreciate advice and happy to be part of this community. :) I really do wish I'd known about this before...It turns out I was doing everything wrong haha. I had no hustle at all but I still made BANK, especially compared to what I make now!

You could start off in a divier club in your area if you're worried about the weight. You might be surprised, depending on your area you could end up being the big fish in a small pond.
Re: Retired dancer thinking of returning
probably the toughest issue in returning to dancing after a ~4 year hiatus will be psychological. Girls who work steadily or even sporadically over a period of years don't tend to take great notice of the gradual changes taking place in regard to effort expended vs money earned, in regard to customer 'extras' etc.
However, returning to the strip club scene for the first time in a few years usually results in 'being slapped across the face' with just how much the industry has changed !
Re: Retired dancer thinking of returning
Your weight and height may be different for you, but in many clubs that would not be bad at all. If you do dance again, that should come off in a few weeks or a couple of months.

I was listening to the LoveLine Podcast One show today while getting ready for camming http://podcastone.com/Loveline episode 6/8/2014. A caller called in who got a blow job from porn star at a strip club. Seems like a pretty rough industry to be in right now, kudos to all the girls who are able to stick it out. When I was stripping a couple years ago it was pretty awful. Highly stressful and low paying. But I was mostly familiar with Denver clubs.
As Melonie said... you would notice the changes after being out of it for four years. Please update us and let us know how it is going.
