No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
So the one thing I don't like about my new club is that their poles are really thick and not meant for pole tricks..I guess maybe some girls could get on them but I sure can't wrap my skinny legs around them. I've seen 0 girls even attempting to do any tricks on them. Before I quit dancing 2 years ago, pole tricks were my thing. I spent most of my stage set doing pole tricks and would go around the stage for a quick meet-and-greet at the end to collect my tips.
Most of the girls I worked with are thick, black, latina, italian and other tan things with big booties and boobs that can twerk and dance really sexually on stage. I'm very, very, very white. I have little boobies, small butt compared to the others and I can't twerk or "shake it" for my life. I have no idea what to do on stage now. I felt like an idiot just basically dancing around on foot, circling the pole over and over...When a customer came up to tip me I didn't know what to do. I refuse to put my boobs in anyone's face or let them touch me for $1. Does anyone know of any videos or resources for tasteful dancing and floor work?

that's the first video i saw when I typed "sexy floorwork" into youtube
This one is good because this girl also has a smaller body type and isn't booty shaking, so these are probably moves you could do easily.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
Incorporate lots of touching your own body into your show - drawing attention to your curves, breasts, etc. When a customer comes up to tip, you can turn around, bend down, and glide your hand up your leg. Move your hair around while you dance. Sway to the music slowly, using flirty / seductive eye contact and sexy smiles. You can touch the side of his face before taking the tip, or his shoulder.
Floor work is definitely an option, but it can be very hard on your knees, especially in the long run. So if you're on the floor, try to do things that don't use your knees as a fulcrum for rocking your weight back and forth. Do more moves where you're posing in positions and touching your body (as opposed to movement-heavy floorwork where you're grinding your knees into the stage).
Also remember that stage time is hustle time. So if you feel like a guy is into your show, make a bit of light conversation. "You look like fun...I hope I see you once I'm done..." "You look like you're about ready for some private time...I'll come by once I finish up here..." You get the idea. Otherwise, once you get off stage, you'll be back to making 'cold calls' instead of having customers picked out who were interested in you on stage. Stage is like foreplay, and private time is the main event. Try to connect the two for customers who are into you by showing interest in them while you're on stage.

Wow, this possibly the most racist comment ever. "And other tan things" ? Fucking really?!

I think she actually meant it as a self-deprecating comment. I know I've felt the same way about WOC - their skin looks so fucking beautiful next to my nearly transparent whiteness! :)

Lol really? Pointing out that other girls are tan is racist? So I guess calling me "pale" is racist too? Please...My husband is Filipino and my best girl friend is black. My sister is mixed black/white and my son is (obviously) mixed Asian/white. They're all people that I love and would die for. Get over yourself.

You said "and other tan things". That phrase was really uncalled for. Do you like it when others make fun of those with pale skin? I bet you don't (and I don't either, I'm pretty pale myself too).

Let's trust that everyone here had the best intentions and move on.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
I think by "things" she probably meant races and not calling the women things. That's what I thought when I saw the post. I don't think she meant to be offensive.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
Accessorize! Then use your outfit to tease your customers. I like to use large, sheer scarves on stage to create a fun effect. A man's necktie could be used the same way. Pretend to tie up your own wrists or use the ties to pull your customer toward you. You could also use it as a pseudo blindfold either on the customer or on yourself. Use the scarf to play peek-a-boo when the customer is tipping you so that the show is his alone. You could also try doing a more burlesque style performance. Maybe place a chair on the stage if it allowed and if there is enough room, and do a lap dance on the chair.
My club has 4 stages, but only 2 have poles. Burlesque style dance moves work well in a strip club when paired with sexy floor work. Check out YouTube for some ideas, and then just have fun with it.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
^ That's a good point. Simple outfits are easier to take off, but they also leave you with fewer things to play with and take off on stage.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
I like the playing with the outfits and using them for stage shows as well. I do that when I want to add variety into my stage set and am tired of feeling like I'm doing the same thing over and over again. It helps with crowd interaction and will makes you stand out from everyone else. (especially when the other girls dance similarly to each other)
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
Good luck. It's hard to make money dancing tastefully when the other girls dance like they're in a rap video. If you are at an urban club, I'd really suggest trying to learn some moves, but if it's a mixed club i think you could definitely get away with floor work and eye contact. I know on lazy days at my urban club I still make money on stage doing that. The trick is to keep moving fluidly and transitioning well.

No one was making fun of anyone... But next time I notice my husband getting darker in the summer I'll be sure to not say anything about his beautiful tan skin in case it might offend him. I should have known that it's incredibly racist. *eye roll*
Thanks to everyone that had something useful to say:) I appreciate your feedback.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
Wednesday86 - stop continuing the drama. Jay12 let it go, and so should you. Otherwise this thread will be closed.
Let's get back to the OP.
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
I use my personality. i'm the same way. Honestly I just play adorable and I dance idk...like a gypsie with my hips alot like if i was in the club or a bar. :) Some guys like that I really "dance" INstead of like i'm in a hiphop video. It may work for you
Re: No pole tricks..WTF do I do on stage?
I don't do pole tricks and I do just fine. In NOLA my hustle buddy didn't execute one trick either and she doesn't have huge knockers. Your stages don't get you money. Your hustle does.
