Coming out to a guy who I'm talking to about being a stripper.
I'm planning to immediately fess up to being a stripper. We've known each other since high school & I suspect he has an idea anyway. I'm from a small town so people talk. It's one of those places the ppl rarely leave & I left. I'm at the point in my life where I'm very driven & just want to secure a future. I haven't told him yet bc this will be our first face to face conversation. If he accepts me perfect if not ok no problem! Thoughts or experiences ladies?:-*

It's never been an issue for me while dating guys. I was always up front about if I liked him and was interested in seriously dating. Honestly most of them think it's hot and will brag to their friends about it...Now if things get serious between you it might become an issue down the road. My husband was fine with it while we were dating, but after we got married, had a baby and I returned to dancing we fought about it a lot. He's finally coming to terms with it but it's just something to consider. If you're planning to dance long term or make it a career be sure to let him know up front that you will not be changing jobs just for him.

is this guy somebody you are about to get serious with? do you mind if he goes and blabs it to your entire home town, including possibly your family? your FIRST face to face conversation? you grew up together right? i'm confused on that part lol
i think that before you get serious with anybody they have a right to know what you do for a living..full disclosure. but if you don't know if it will get serious, and you aren't "out" to everyone, i would be careful.

^^^^agree w/ Simone on this one. Is dancing anything to be ashamed of -- hell no -- but when it gets out in a small town full of small minds that you are a dancer, it could really cause you more headaches than it is worth.
I have had more than one person -- incidentally, most of them were guys that I was dating -- decide it was no big deal for them to run their mouths abt my job, to ppl I often did not even get the courtesy of meeting myself first. They did this b/c TO THEM, it is no big deal. They got the bragging rights & I got the nasty judgments. One of my very best friends did this, we have known each other for yrs, since b4 I started dancing, & of all ppl he had also promised to keep it to himself. Just smtg to keep in mind, there is a real risk here of being outed on terms other than yours if you let this guy in on things.

My family knows what I do & I suspect a lot of ppl in my town do. I just tell people that ask (BC they are nosy) I'm a bartender. I'm planning to dance full time for 5+ years and secure an amazing future for myself. I hope he can accept me & I could care less who he tells as I live 600 miles away. I'm just tired of hiding it on dates this site has really helped with my self acceptance & drive.

My boyfriend met me as a stripper but when I met his family I was euphemistically introduced as a "bartender" along with 4 years shaved off of my age. ::)
