Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Hello everyone this is my first post here! :)
So I want to start off by saying I have never actually done any type of adult work before, but I am trying to become a cam girl.
I do not want to complain but I do want to give a little background so some of you can maybe understand where I am coming from.
I am 21 and I live in the US. To make a long story short I have always known I was transgender and I finally could not take is anymore and in October 2013 I started taking female hormones to finally look and feel how I have always felt and try to have a chance at being happy and healthy for once in my life.
So I have been having a very hard time finding employment. It has been almost 3 years since I have had a regular job. It has been a true struggle for me to get by. I know I am being discriminated against because I am transgender and it really sucks. I am in a very bad place right now and a very desperate position, I know that the adult industry seems like a very accepting place and I feel this is the only place and way I can support myself. I need to make this work or I am going to find myself homeless and not being able to eat.
So with that out of the way, I really need some help. I have purchased a logitech C525 camera and I am ready to start cam work right now. I just have no idea where someone like me can begin?
Are there any sites that are for trans women that are reliable and well known for not being a scam?
Also being transgender I do not have the greatest body in the world. My breasts are just little buds right now but are slowly growing. I have broader shoulders than a "regular" female I suppose but I am only 5"2 so they are not that huge. I also have gained a bit of weight since I started hormones so I am not exactly a supermodel. I probably never will be, but I have heard that really it does not matter and that you don't have to be a perfect supermodel to make money in the adult industry. My face is very feminine and pretty though, I have always been gendered female since I was about 13. Even without makeup or trying at all to look like a female I am usually always addressed as a female. So I feel that may be a plus? What I want to know is can I still make money, or was I led in the wrong direction?
I am sorry for rambling on, I am just overwhelmed and looking for guidance. I may post other questions but right this second I just want any help I can get.
Thank you all so much! I am really looking forward to your replies! :)
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Two of my good friends are transgender and they both cam on Streamate and Chaturbate and do very well.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Welcome :)
I see a lot of transgender women on cams.com, there are even many on the first page.
Most sites filter transgender women to their own section so it seems like that could be a disadvantage where as cams.com lets anyone make it to the first pages.
Good luck! :)
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Welcome to the board. Yes, you can make money. I know that Streamate, Chaturbate, Cam4, ImLive,LiveJasmin accept transgender models. Niteflirt does as well. I'm not a transgender model myself, but my advice is the same to all ladies try out lots of sites and see what suits you best and never undersell yourself, be confident and make that money. Good luck.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Hi illuminaughty,
welcome! I am also Transgender so I can relate and empathize greatly with your struggle. We live in a society that doesn't embrace differences but don't let the ignorance of others define who you are or your reality. Life is really what you make it.
I work on Streamate and it's my only site so I highly recommend it. You don't have to be drop dead gorgeous but I would suggest be more confident in who you are and your look. As you start camming, you'll be surprised what guys are into and what they'd find attractive. Above all else, it's important to be just be yourself! I wish you lots of success and I hope people are kind to you.

Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Thank you everyone for your replies, it makes me feel really good knowing that being trans is not an unheard of thing and there are trans girls who make money.
I signed up for my streamate account and I just got an email saying I got approved.
Is there any advice you can give me to get started? I have been watching other girls cams but its hard to tell what I should be doing especially when I have no reference on how to get started.
It just seems so much more confusing since I am trans and my body is just starting to change, so I don't have breasts to play around with yet.
Is there anyway you could message me or wrote some advice here?
Thank you guys so much for the help :)
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Congrats on getting approved! I know you are new to this but please don't let being trans define your whole being! A lot of things you will learn as you do them. Please read the Streamate thread and a few others I have linked for you!

Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Also, if you need tech support, please let me know and PLEASE check out the tech support thread.
I'm trans too, haven't been able to cam yet but whatever we can do to help you, count on us :)
Stay strong, be positive, do a good followup of your monthly acocunting and get that booty to work, girl!
Also, remember this: Upload speeds. That's the MOST important part of your internet connection ;)
Do a speedtest on speedtest.net to see how well it'll sustain camming.
Again, if you need anything, shoot me a PM or an inbox through the chat. I'm mostly on most of the times.
*Hugs*

Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Welcome to the camgirl club! I have nothing more useful than that, except to say that everyone on SW has your back--this is the most welcoming and supportive place I have found, and that goes for both on- and off-line.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Go for it, honey. Whatever I can do to help you, sis (:
You can mostly find me at the chat. If I'm not on, shoot me a PM.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
One of the things I like about KinkLive is they feature trans performers at the top of the page with cis performers, instead of tucking them away in some obscure corner with no hope of ever seeing the front page like Streamate does.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Thanks everyone for the support! I am going through a lot of emotions and terrible things right now so that's why I disappeared.
But my situation hasn't changed and the need to make money is overwhelming right now, so to survive it's time for me to get serious and get to work on this. So I'm planning on doing my first show this week.
The only question I still have that I haven't found info about here is about noise. I love with my family right now and I don't want them to know what I'm doing. Talking regularly is not an issue, but moaning and talking dirty will most likely be a problem.
Has anyone else been in this situation and has any solutions? Thank you!
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Just don't broadcast sound at the times your family is home OR play your music loudly enough to cover your moans OR tell customers you can't make much noise so will be happy to chat but will need to type anything dirty.
I occasionally cam when my family are asleep, and just apologise to customers because I can't provide sound overnight. There's been no difference in my earnings. :) Cam customers are visual creatures and can live without noise. Just check the rules of your camsite - some require sound I think? I'm not sure.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Do a search on here for advice on camming with roommates--I followed the tips I got here and successfully cammed at both my old place and new one with housemates who are none the wiser (um, until I told them, that is). I always lock my door and shove a towel around the bottom, and I put my speakers for my music next to the wall I share with a roommate, and try to cam against an external wall. And check you have closed your windows...I filmed a clip once with a window wide open and now people coming out of my house always get whistled at by the pizza delivery guys who hang out in our back alley. Oops.
Re: Transgender girl looking for guidance / where should I cam?
Thanks you guys for the awesome advice.
So the only issue I have is with the music thing, I live with my grandparents right now and they are the typical cookie cutter old people who tell you to turn down your TV and music if they can hear it. LOL
Does anyone know off hand if streamate requires sound I can't seem to find out?
Also the blocking the door thing seems like a good idea, I could cover up any other openings that release sound too like the ventilation.

if u download xsplit and manycam you can stream music to your customers without it coming out of ur speakers. firstly mute your computer but hitting the "mute speaker" button, (if u turn the sound down 2 nothing it wont work it has to be muted) then you simply load up a youtube music playlist on ur computer, go into Xsplit and select "use windows sound" and then go to Manycam and set the Audio device as Xsplit. Then on your camsite, streamate, set both your webcam and audio output devices to Manycam. ur parents wont hear a peep but ur customers will hear your youtube playlist.
