The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
I went from being a complete loner to sharing an office with 2 other girls for the past few months. It has definitely been an adjustment for me. First off we do each have our own massage rooms within the office and we just share the sitting area and bathroom.
There are pros and cons. A pro is definitely not having to pay a lot of money for a place on my own. A major con is different work ethics clashing. They both think it is ok to use fake photos on their ads. 1 routinely shorts clients on time and does not understand the meaning of being quiet when others are in session. Another is passive aggressive about confronting the other girl and wastes her money away on eating out and pot then wants to complain to me about being broke.
I will admit that I had about had it with the whole situation but May has been a great month for me so I have been able to overlook all the other stuff. Money always makes everything seem a little better. lol. And truthfully it is nice for the most part sharing space with 2 other women that do what I do so we kind of have a camaraderie.
I have nothing to compare my situation to so I would love to hear how it is for anybody else that shares a location with 1 or more people.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
Yeah I work solo in my office but the walls are paper thin and the women with normal jobs are always threatening to call the cops on me. The pros are that I'm less worried about getting attacked/robbed/etc than in an apt.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
it's hard for me to understand why you care if the other girls aren't using real photos, shorting clients on time and what they spend their money on? for instance, i don't use fake photos, but it doesn't personally offend me that other people do. i used to share a space with another girl for body rubs and one day she blew up at me because she felt i was shorting my clients on time and one morning i didn't have time to take a shower before an early morning appointment (it's not like i smelled!) i couldn't understand why she cared or it was any of her business?? if anything more clients for you if they are disappointing clients, right?
but sure, your one coworker needs to be quiet while others have appointments. being annoyed by something like that i understand.
i think it's hard to live and work with people in close quarters because of different personalities and styles, so when you are sharing space with others you need to be very tolerant and put some of your opinions and judgements aside and don't sweat the small, petty stuff.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
Wow. Your pros are very important, yellowrose.
And Blondie, I care because they try to push their behavior on me. Such as, "I can't believe you use your real photo. You shouldn't do that. I never give them a full hour. You shouldn't either. Oh, they can't afford your rate. You should just take what they can afford and short their time. They will never notice. And they constant complaining to me about being short on her rent or starving because she chose to eat out yesterday instead of buying groceries.
So when they involve me, I have a reason to care. I have never blown up and either girl. I am very nice when I see them which might be why 1 has become very clingy. Texting me constantly to complain about her personal life and constantly asking my advice for very trivial things.
It is hard to see why my caring about something that involves me warranted a rant. But thank you for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
oh, that wasn't a rant, but sorry if you took it that way. i was just sharing my humble opinion. when you post on these forums people will share their opinions and advice with you. that's what they're for. anyway, good luck with your work situation.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
As a client, the main things I care about when there's studio sharing is that things are coordinated so that I never run into another client, and that the others are fairly quiet while I'm getting my massage (I personally don't care if I can hear others a little bit, but many guys do mind). I find it's trickier than it sounds, not just because all the providers have to communicate on when their clients are coming, but also because many clients seem to find it excruciatingly difficult to follow simple directions such as, "please wait at your car for 10 minutes, don't come into the building until I call you back again". Any number of times, I've ended up in the elevator with a guy who was clearly going to the same apartment I was, and who was JUST NOW calling his provider (instead of calling her BEFORE he entered the building, as he was instructed). Sorry for the rant, but I feel like beating the absolute crap out of these guys.
Depending on how active the client network is in your area, there can be negative consequences to co-habitating with women who use business practices clients don't like (shorting on time, etc.). My area has an active client network along with active client backchannels, and it's fairly common to see exchanges like, PL #1: "Hey, has anyone seen Honey in SOMA" PL #2: "No, but she works in the same studio as known time-shorters and fake-photo providers Jenna and Cindy" PL #1: "Thanks man! I'll pass!" Of course, if someone comes in and vouches for Honey in SOMA that she's good, then it doesn't matter. But until we get other information like reviews from known reviewers, we assume everyone at a place uses similar business practices. I don't know whether that has any practical effects on her business or not, but there's at least a subclass of clients avoiding her.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
I worked at a massage studio last year and made some good money. The only issue I had was dealing with those crazy and annoying girls was emotionally draining for me.Try to block out all their drama and focus on the dough that's coming in.
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
I can see where you're coming from in regards to having respect for you & your client when you're in session but I'm with Blondie on the rest. Are you all in business together? If not what they're doing with their clients & using fake pics really shouldn't have an effect on you or your pockets. As long as they're showing/giving you respect & you are doing what you need to do to keep steady $$$flow and happy clients all the rest really shouldn't matter hun:)

Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
Thank you for your reply. Normally it wouldn't matter if they kept it to themselves. But constantly telling me "oh, I can't believe you spent an entire hour with that client. I never do a full hour and they don't notice. You shouldn't do a full hour either." or trying to pit me against the other person in the office. Saying, "Oh, I don't like it when she does ..., you should tell her to stop doing it. Just last week, 1 girl gave a client our office suite number then when he gets to the office and starts knocking on the door tells me, "He took too long to get here. I am not letting him in. You should tell him that I left." She then locked herself in her room while the client was banging on the outside door. That specifically pissed me off because now there is a mad client that knows our actually office suite number and not just the building number. I am usually a person that doesn't speak up so I just let things build inside. Things are going better now that I have found my voice and have felt comfortable saying if you have a problem with what she does then tell her yourself instead of asking me to do it. Especially because this had gotten to be an almost daily thing.
Now, I would love to here other ladies' experience with sharing office space. Whether it is good or bad. I am just curious because after being solo for awhile and usually having more guy friends and girl friends the female office dynamic is fascinating to me. Even in my vanilla jobs in the past I seemed to be surrounded by more men than women so this is completely new to me.

Hey hun, yeah that's a bit too much had I'd known that was done I would've had a diff response.Any female that is that childish & puts my safety in jeopardy is not worth having around. Sounds like there should be a firm sit down & all three parties discuss & come to an agreement on professionalism, rules & boundaries. If they disagree with anything that involves not only professionalism but safety, yes hunty I'd find a new office space with new female coworkers:) This is a business & the men have review boards.Trust me If they're doing all that they're doing more harm to themselves than good & they definitely don't have to worry about repeat clientele.

I do apologize for not completing the entire picture.

that's stupid. In this industry, everyone has their do's and don'ts. I find even on these message boards girls get catty about what the next bitch is doing to get money. Like when I posted about getting extra funds from my ex-Sd. Like, why do people care? It isn't your wallet!
I'm fine working with other women Who are About Their Money. If you're sloppy, putting me in harm's way, etc. I can't deal. So as long as things are legit, no complaints from here. Oh, and I'd avoid discussing how you operate (talking about what you do/how you do it etc) Keep it general
Re: The "Joys" of Sharing a Sensual Massage Office
Thankfully it has been almost a year since I have removed myself from the toxic situation that I complained about almost 2 years ago.
