Camming article
Hi,
Apologies if this is an inappropriate post - I totally understand if it gets swiftly deleted by mods :)
I haven't posted here in a long time as I don't cam anymore (about six months ago I moved from camming to escorting). I'm a postgrad student in London, UK writing mostly on sex work and the sex industry. About a year ago I presented a paper on camming at a conference in the UK, and I interviewed some lovely people from Stripper Web and used those interviews when writing the paper. Some papers from that conference are being published in a book, mine included. I would like to improve upon the original paper by going right back to the beginning, conducting new interviews, and writing a more in depth piece.
The gist of my article will be about what is actually involved in webcamming - a lot of academic writing on sex work seems to be totally out of touch with what it can and does entail, and I would like to challenge that. Interviews would involve exploring what you do on cam and how your performance and experience is (or is not) influenced by the 'categories' you engage with on camsites (for example, categories around race, gender, body type, language spoken, etc). You would have the opportunity to see a preliminary draft and veto any direct quote of yours that I use, and if you like you can write a short response to the piece that I would include in the published version. Of course, I would keep your contribution anonymous unless you would prefer otherwise.
Because I would like to look into a diverse range of people's experience with camming, I would be particularly interested in speaking to you if you are not a white cis woman (as I have a few respondents who fit that description already). However, I would be really grateful if anyone at all was willing to speak to me! Unfortunately, I cannot reimburse you for your time as I am not being paid myself to write the article. I understand that being interviewed takes time and effort, so apologies for that.
If you would be up for being interviewed, or if you have any questions/issues you would like to discuss, comment here or email me at [email protected].
Thanks!

Re: Camming article
I'm in the largest camgirl demographic so I wouldn't be helpful to you, but good luck with your article! If the conference was about sexuality/sex work (and the book is, too), I'd love if you could let me know when it's out. I have some university connections who could get their hands on a copy for me :)

Re: Camming article
The conference was called Talking Bodies and was held in Chester. I'd be happy to pass on details of the publication when it's out.
Also, if you would be up for being interviewed, that would be awesome! Ideally I'd like to have a diverse range of respondents but at the moment that isn't looking particularly likely, so anyone who would like to participate is more than welcome to get in touch.
