Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
Arrrgh. I saw this forum too late :(
I signed up for a studio, just made it through the 3-week waiting period and am making 21% from the 35% from Streamate. I haven't received any checks from this studio yet, but they notified me they're in the mail.
I'm wondering has anyone been on Hideaway Cam Modeling Studio? Have you tried to break free from the studio? Is so, how long before you were able to work on Streamate directly?
What a awful thing. Such a scam...
Thank you, Glo
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
I'm sorry you got roped into this, from what I understand, you have to wait six months after leaving a studio before going independent with SM. It can't hurt to email SM and find out, they've been really good about having actual people reply to emails lately, pretty quickly, too.
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
As SweetJulia said, you'll probably have to wait six months.
When I tried to leave my studio this is what happened:
I used the support contact form to request that my account be deleted. A few days later I got the email confirmation. I then tried to sign up with a different email (VERY important, you couldn't use an email that has ever been in the system even if you weren't in a studio), different username, different pics, etc. The account was created but it was still "pending approval" or whatever. I got an email saying that the account was approved (yay!) and then right after that an email saying that the account had been closed (boo!) as I was still under contract with my old studio. They gave me the exact date (exactly six months after the last time I'd broadcasted) on which I could sign up again.
So you can try to slip under the radar with a new account but it probably won't work and you'll either have to deal with 21% for the rest of your Streamate career or you can delete your studio account, hop on another site (make sure you sign up directly this time!) and wait it out.
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
Try signing up for the Boleyn Models studio here run by Katy. While it is a studio, it's run by a cam girl here on the site and she's amaaaaaazing. You get 30% and it's well worth it. Nice little loop hole to by passing the six month waiting period. Myself and a few other girls here absolutely love it. http://models.katyboleyn.com/
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
^ Unfortunately it looks like SM isn't letting anyone bypass the waiting period anymore. My attempt was through Boleyn Models and it was unsuccessful, and even Collin/PJ of DP had his privileges revoked; not that anyone would want to deal with his crazy anyway. Still worth a try, of course, but unless something's changed in the last couple months studio-hopping isn't the solution it once was.
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
Ouch girlie! I actually originally signed up with Hideaway Cam Models but never finished my account or uploading my IDs. At the same time, I was signing up for SM. Thankfully, I came here and saw that SM was recommended by you ladies by name, so I went with that. It wasn't until months later that I realized Hideaway was a studio of SM and not just some little known site with no traffic!
As the other girls have said, you can try to sneak under the radar, but you'll probably be best signing up with another cam site directly until the waiting period is over.
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
Has anyone hired an attorney to see if they can have their contract void? The contract I signed appears to have loopholes. I am planning on contacting them today and if it can't be resolved will retain an attorney. This is a very bad 'scam' and I won't allow them to take advantage of me. I haven't accepted any payment from them; meaning I have 3 checks in the mail from the 'Studio' that total $250 and haven't deposited/cashed them. And I won't until my attorney has rectified the situation for me.
Please tell me if you have hired an attorney or anything?

Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
I have zero experience or anecdata about hiring an attorney to get out of a studio but as far as the contract goes, AFAIK the waiting period is on Streamate's end. I knew about the waiting period for some studios before I signed up (yeah I knew it was an SM studio... I blame peer pressure lol) but I looked for and didn't see anything about it in the contract I signed so I thought it would be alright. Turns out that the waiting period isn't usually in the contract or something that's imposed on SM by the studios, it's more of a voluntary way that they keep their studios happy, and of course SM is able to accept, deny, or terminate an account at their own discretion. However if you do consult an attorney I would be very interested to hear the results.
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
There are many different cam sites out there. Sign up & perfect your hustle until you can sign up to SM directly.

An attorney won't help with Streamate. They work with cam studios and won't burn them since they supply a good amount of talent. Even if you get out of your contract, Streamate will still make you wait. Not sure how they scammed you if they had the rate listed in the contract. Not liking what you signed isn't the same as being scammed.

Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
I'm just curious, what is the USE of online studios? Like I get paying a percentage to an actual physical studio you go to cam, if you work out of the house, but virtual studios? Why? Do they bump your placement or something, or are they just suckling on the titties of the cam models they 'employ'?

^^^^------- This.
Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
Yes they seem to get higher placement on the site and the studio's do a lot of promoting of the talent. Well, the good ones do.

Hey, Jane. The actual contract was missing Exhibit B (which discussed payment and percentages), and the actual 'line item' for the percentages was blank. I figured the percentage was negotiable, so that is why I understood it to be blank. And Exhibit B I figured would be on its way via email. I just signed up with them and haven't accepted any payments from them as of yet. So yes, I signed a contract with 'blank fields' where percentages should of been clearly posted. It wasn't because I am unhappy with the terms, their contract wasn't complete and has many 'loop holes'.
Thank you for your post.

A girl on here a while back signed up to the one studio everyone insists gets special placement on the site, JUST to see if she got really good placement or any kind of special treatment placement wise, and she did not. So I really think the whole idea about getting better placement is a rumor that studios put out there to get sign ups.
Now, I DO see some studio girls occupying the top spots for a few weeks, but they have to KEEP that placement, and really none of them do. So some might give you high placement to start out, but I've yet to notice one model who has kept it.

It's unfortunate, but I really don't think there's anything you can do to get around it. Streamate seems to have become pretty strict about this rule of letting people out of studios.
Your choices would seem to be A) stay with the studio and make the percentage because it's better than $0 or B) wait the time frame and try other sites.
Have you looked in to any other sites yet?

Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
dont believe them when they say 600 days, contact SM about it.
If not, there are imlive, mfc, chaturbate & such. Go work on your hustle become a top earning model for those sites. Trust that SM will be watching, as all cam companies & affiliates as to who is making cam sites the most money. You want to become a top earner so that they will want you to work for them.
Dont let them play you, play them so that it is a win-win situation for everyone. That is what I do.
Go build your brand, go build up your twitter followers, go build up your clip stores. Do this all on your own so that you are a power player instead of letting the powers play you.

Re: Studio Scam-Hideaway Cam Models for Streamate
I have a studio and it isn't a rumor. A lot of what you hear is actually true. Just like some of the performers are under contract to only work on Streamate only and they are guaranteed hourly rates and top placement.

That's most likely total bullshit. A while back the "standard" was one year then sometime around December SM changed it to 6 months (for all studios AFAIK)... if it's not in the contract then it's not in Hideaway's hands, it's in SM's. I've never heard of Hideaway before this so they're obviously not some major studio with more pull than the rest. The advice from my first comment still stands.
