Travelling from Canada to USA to dance. (No visa/permit/green card)
I have recently joined the site making this my first post :)
I am currently living and working in Montreal Canada where things become a little slow during the winter. I am hoping to leave the city and possibly the country coming this September for a couple weeks before the slow season hits. I have been dancing for many years in some of the country's biggest clubs but now i am ready for a little taste of the U.S. I do not have a visa, permit or a green card and was wondering if anyone could suggest any good clean clubs where the pay out would be worth the travel.
Thanks,
Vv

I think there is a thread about this somewhere, probably in the Club Section.
America is very stringent when it comes to having proof of ability to work in strip clubs. You will not be able to work in Vegas, and from my experience of working in CA, I think you will have a hard time there too, as I have never not been asked for a driver's license and a social security #. I honestly can't imagine any club NOT asking for a driver's license... that would be crazy to me, as they have to make sure you're 18 or 21 if it's an alcohol club, I mean they could get shut down, so if someone doesn't ask you for one that seems like a red flag to me.
I've heard from girls that down in south Florida they don't care if you're legal, but I've never worked there. Honestly I would stay in Canada... I mean, it could get ugly for you and you could get deported.... but if you're desperate to work in the US, I would try Florida. Or get a fake driver's license and make up a social security # and just hope to got it doesn't get checked.

a club that would not check to see if you are legal to work would probably not be the most high class OR clean. my club has always been very anti-paperwork/making girl's employees but this year even they were forced to I9 us to make sure we weren't illegals.

I'm originally from Canada and live and work in the US. I HIGHLY recommend not coming to the US and trying to work at any job, dancing or not, without a social security number of federal tax id. You won't get hired. Although I've only worked in California, everywhere I worked (both shady and clean) has asked for an ID and SSN. Your best bet is to stay in Canada or get your papers in order because traveling here won't be worth your time and money. Montreal is a beautiful city. I can't imagine it being that bad that you have to risk so much just to work in the US.

I agree. If you want to work in the big clubs in NYC they'd want to see a social and ID. There are clubs where they don't ask for that stuff, but they're not very good. In the outer boroughs most of the time they just want to see a form of ID and don't ask questions. Girls on student visas and girls who are undocumented who can't legally work in the U.S. work in them. But the money you'd make in many of them would probably not be worth traveling for.

It's funny that things get slow for you guys in Montreal in the winter, because that's our busy season in Ottawa! Instead of dealing with a heck of a lot of risks and no guarantee that you'll even find a club that will hire you and that is lucrative in the States, just go 2 hours west. :)
