Earning GOOD money? Like over $30/hour?
In my case, pretty much immediately. As far as I can tell, if a cam site's bad and you're earning like 5 bucks an hour, it's never going to become awesome just by building regulars, or at least not in my 6 years of experience, with the exception of token-based sites. If you're on a good private-based site with good equipment, you should be earning at least OK $$$ right at the get-go. Regulars are kind of overrated IMO and while mine love me, they only really make up about 5-10 percent of my income.
Again, what aqua said.
@aqua, I swear this is the third post today where I'm like, "Damn, you got it!"
Since my first minute online. But this was like 3 years ago so it's different now. I started on MFC doing privates & groups only. The only thing I did in free chat was lay on my bed in a bikini and smile and say hello and laugh a lot and I answered questions that they asked me but other than that I did not really say or do anything.
After a few months the money started going down for me. (because I was fed up of being capped/stalked and freeloaded and it showed in my attitude). Had a long time of shit money, where I refused to do anything remotely entertaining for free and was nasty to everyone, and I've picked myself back up the last few months and started making big bucks again, by quitting the site I hated and finding a new one that I liked. (adultwork~)
I've been camming 2 years and I still don't average $30 an hour most days. My average is about $25 an hour and I'm okay with that. Not everyone can make bank and not everyone strives to. I'm kinda lazy and just like to hop on cam when I feel like it and then once I log out I'm done. You get out of camming what you put into it. For the effort I give I'm happy with what I get.
I did obscenely well when I first started, in 2010. Like $100 an hour at 1pm good without even trying. Alas, the days of just being pretty and sitting there are long over. It's gotten more competitive since then, but I still believe that the money is there if you work hard. These days, you can't expect a site to 'bring' you high-quality traffic, you have to cultivate it yourself.
The money did not come in fast for me. $30 an hour is very doable, but I found with me many hours and hard work. So, Yes I Have reached $30 and hour, but not anymore on a consistent basis. But, I don't work long hours anymore either, I am on Disability and can't.
It's strange, but for me, most of my income (90% probably) comes from regulars right now. I have not been consistent and guys I played with last year are returning to play with me now after 6 months of being gone offline. I read on another forum that some people are at 15/hour even after a year of being in the industry consistently, so like SoloDesire said above, not everyone ends up making the big bucks, especially now with all the increased competition.
I started in 2005 and camming was a lot better than. Customers had no issue paying so it was easy to start making good money from the first day you logged on. Its different now but you can still make good money, you might need to just find a better site.
Thanks for your responses ladies. I heard about and started researching camming like, 3 years ago and back then all I heard about was how most women didn't want to leave because the money was so good for how much time you spent working. So far it's been definitely worth my while, but I haven't exactly seen big bucks! I was under no illusions that the money would flow like water, but is there an 'earning curve', so to speak, as you become a more established presence online?
At the moment I'm at 20-25 an hour. I'm fine with that being that I have only been camming 6 months
I started in 2011, on MFC, and for the first week I made only about $5/hour, and cam score plummeted. Started to get the hang of it after a couple weeks and slowly started to recover camscore, making about $10-15 per hour. After about 3 months I was making $20-30/hour, and after about six months I was steadily making at least $30/hour. Taking a break from camming for awhile while pursing other things. Curious about what the climate will be like when I give it another go!
I started doing the day 2. A year later, I average $40-50 an hour consistently.
As soon as I learned to raise my prices! I worked the most hours in the beginning, at 2.49 and 2.99 a minute, from lack of knowing that I would have them raised. As soon as I raised them to a little higher and stuck it out, 30+ is now a pretty standard average for me.
First site I was making $5-10 an hour. Second site I tried I was making $30-60 an hour right away. You have to figure out what site works for you also.
I made money right away- I started 4 years ago.
I didn't know about this site, so I was just kind of 'winging it'.
I was in prvts., and exclusives when I switched to SM, all the time, right away. It was funny when the model who turned me on to SM, would come into my chat and comment that she didn't understand how I'm always busy, since, she said that I'm on page 10, and she couldn't figure out how anybody even fond me. Lol!
Plus, I had bad internet that would always disconnect, and used a built in webcam.
Ahh, the good old days.
I haven't cammed in a few years and never kept logs of how much I made. Before I start up again I'm doing a lot of research about which site I want to join (or rejoin as the case may be) because the site you choose can really affect your income. I need to be earning around $30/hr so we'll see what happens.
I made very good money straight away. This year it has really dropped since there are so many more girls. I would say give it a month on each new site and really put your all into it. If you're not making money you're happy with by then you need to be moving elsewhere or adding a side site. No point plugging away if it just isn't working out for you.
I used to earn 1$ per hour, and 3000$. well, what i can say if you leave for a vacation, or even for a week... all that work you have done before for nothing. unfortanly memory of fans are very short.
A lot of the money you earn and WILL EARN comes from your regulars. I can say this from having experience with working 3 different sites. :-\
Also, you will probably earn the most tokens when you are first new to a site. People will toss tokens to get the "new girl" seen.
It def takes time to establish a good relationship with people in order to have them wanna jump into your room each time you are on.
After you've build a great relationship with your regulars, some of them will leave you decent offline tips and send you e giftcards to where you'd be earning without even having to turn your cam on.
Have a great personality and you'll be earning a good income in no time. Been 3 months and I often make over $30/hour. *knock on wood* You'll get there soon!
I just started camming a month ago on Streamate, Thanks to lurking this site, I have been consistently earning!
The cheque I pulled from my first ever week on adultwork was £1500. It was all downhill from there! hahaha
I started off making $20/hr on average, now (2 months in) I'm averaging more like $50-$60/hr, and I've had a handful of $100+/hr days. I expect (hope) it to keep going up as I gain more regulars. I'm on MFC, my regulars make up about 60% of my income at this point so they're vital for me. It has been a learning curve...I did tons of research before I started camming, but finding a schedule and routine that works for me has really helped bring it to the next level. Working as often as you can on the busy days, having regs who will help you through the slow days, being consistent enough that they know when they can find you without much effort.
I can't remember as I started on AW and that was 4 years ago, I don't think I was earning allot at all as I didn't read any forums when I started and I didn't quite know what I was doing.
4 years later now on AW my average per hour is $50
