Is a room makeover worth it?
M room is average. I haven't done much browsing at other girls but it seems like most models even top ones have normal looking rooms. I read some threads where some of you said it shouldn't matter what your room looks like as long as it's neat. But I was wondering if I do a lavish room makeover would that help boost my income? Like help me get away with higher prices and selling myself as high end.
I'm thinking of spending thousands on fancy furniture, luxury bedding, a chandelier, and wall paper. I want to do a burlesque/ vegas show girl theme room. I think it will be unique. But will the guys really care? Some guys see me as the girl next door but some think I'm a princess type. I'm a bit worried it might make me seem a little more unapproachable. I really want to try something different I just don't wanna blow that kind of money for nothing.

I'm interested in the same thing. I've been thinking about buying tons of decorative pillows for my bed for this same reason. But I honestly don't think spending thousands of dollars on new furniture will make a difference -- guys won't notice or even care.
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
I actually think your plan is a mistake. Whenever I go into a girl's room and see stuff like fancy furniture and chandeliers I immediately think, "it's a studio". Because many times studio girls work from bedrooms decorated to look like a castle, and it doesn't seem to improve their earnings, to say the least.
I think as long as your room is NEAT and feels cozy and/or girly-ish (I noticed Christmas lights look great, love them around my bed frame) it's the best. Most guys are looking for the GFE more than a girl who looks like she's sitting in a middle of a professional, fancy porn set. So my humble opinion is for you to try to focus on items that are more "personal", the little items, cute pillows, fairy lights, such things. But that's just my 2 cents.
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
^ Took the words out of my mouth. I think there's a nice middle ground--I've seen girls in heinous rooms (like, hoarder-in-a-1980s-double-wide type rooms) and girls in decked out rooms and neither of them were very appealing. IMO the best rooms are clean with minimal clutter/things that draw the eye away from the model and have a touch of femininity--such as a girly headboard, string lights, a bed canopy, an orchid on the night stand, etc (not all at once haha.) How they imagine that idealized girl next door's bedroom looks. IMO things like luxury bedding are wasted on customers--they can't see the thread count. If it would make you happy and inspire you to make over your room like you plan then by all means do it but I doubt you'll get even close to making the cost back and if overdone it might even hurt your earnings.
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
New wallpaper, or or changing bedsheets or blankets works sometimes, but leave around personal items like posters or plushies, etc, guys want to know your real and they dont want to think you are doing it for work, we all are, but guys dont like thinking that when they enter your room
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
In my experience, guys don't care. They care more about You, and if You turn them on. I cam from different places in my home, and they all make the same amount of money for me.
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
As long as you look approachable and hot, I don't think guys care too much about the setting.
If you makeover your room, make sure it's a YOU kind of room. Don't try to impress with fancy furniture if that really isn't your style. If it is, go for it! You need to be happy in the place you're working in :)
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
^^ Exactly. It can also be distracting. I once had the cam, so that You could see artwork I had on the wall behind me, and so many people wanted to discuss it. (they were probably other models, but still...) Annoying
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
I move from room to room often enough. I don't have a crowded wall behind me however. But you can tell it's my home, the TV shows (is off however, important) the blinds at times, whatever. I think it's nice to change rooms or fix a room up a bit. Guys like the change too. Hell I have seen guys bitching that the performer should clean her room, she lives in filth. That seems to be the only time I ever heard about my room was when I had dog crates all around me. So I threw nice sheets over them and put a plant on top the crates while working.
Maybe it's me, I get bored working with the same crap all around me, my customers could care less, some will call you on it. Unless it's kinda scattered like I said (dog crates all over) I never had a problem. I would love to have a stunning work room full of sheets and lights with plants etc. If it looks like a studio, the customer don't care, it's our performance that counts.
:)
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
I think it depends on your niche. If you are a domme or fetish girl or sugar baby type
then having a luxury room could work for you, but you can get the expensive look without spending 1000's. Depends on what you're selling. I think the most important thing though is that the room is neat and not distracting.
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
My rooms have always been regular. Standard bedroom type stuff. And now I'm bored with it. I have been camming since 2007 and very bored. So for my sake, I have been planning to decorate my room to be fun for me. I feel like me being in a fun room can always come across to the customers, as me being fun to cam with. But that's just me. It's hard for me to be confined in my bedroom all day.Next month my kids go to my family for camp. I can't wait! Then I can change my scene and cam in the living room, dining room and kitchen, when I'm bored. I have some stuff I have saved that I want to buy to decorate my room. I need some posters, lights a cam seat which is cute and comfy. the bed and my desk chair bores me. Im getting a seat from this site, which has been mentioned on this forum years ago. NOW im finally going to buy something here, and soon. http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
OK..my "cam room" is in a closet. I have a black curtain back drop and my sofa is covered in a fuzzy tiger stripe blanket. It's not fancy but it's what I have. Everyone is in love with my tiger sofa. The blanket was dirty so I switched it out with a red one and literally everyone asked where my tiger couch went. I had to tell them all it was a blanket and was just going to the wash. Every last one commented when it returned. It doesn't have to be something expensive or fancy. It just needs to be something that stands out.
Re: Is a room makeover worth it?
Like others said I don't think guys really care. I think its very important to have the right room setup though because for me it effects my feng shui. I would redecorate for yourself not for customers. I also agree that going too all out might effect your $$$. I'd get nice stuff but I would try to avoid a studio look.
If you want to raise your rate then I'd make sure you have the best cam, lighting, computer, internet connection and show. I guess I have what guys consider "expensive" rates. I don't allow guys to tell me shit about my prices nor will I waver because I know that I have the best; cam, computer and lighting. I also have a good internet connection and I do my best to give a great show. If you want to sell or look more high end then I'd focus more on yourself then your room...hair, skin, makeup, nails, workout, nice outfits (wouldn't go out on outfits though because most guys don't seem to care. I'd just make sure you have a variety of outfits so that you aren't wearing the same thing all the time).
