Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
I hope this is in the right section, but anyway it seems that only certain niches can move up in the adult industry, and can go from say camming to like Playboy and more 'prestigious' gigs. Like Fem Dommes, BBW, big butts, etc. I can't do any of those. I'm more a girl next door teen type, but since i look really young, I couldn't even do the sexy girl-next-door, I'm more adorable and cute, not hot, sexy or curvacious.
Do you all think this is true? Only certain niches are catered to.. I mean I'd doubt you'd ever see "innocent little Becky..." as the headline in some magazine spread like King or some big porn, idk. I haven't decided how far I want my career to go, I havent even really started yet, but I don't really see any niche markets I could be lucrative in besides the teen or schoolgirl/cheerleader type which aren't huge I'm guessing.

I think the girl next door teen type sales, you just need to be more confident and are you trying to do porn or just be an erotic model?

an erotic model maybe. it just doesnt seem like a huge market like the 'sexy, seductive buxom blonde' would have for example lol.

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
the niche markets do tend to attract 'above average spending level' customers.

yeah, but some niches seem more popular than others, like big boobs for example, theres a huge market and demand for that. So it'd be easier to move up in the industry. But not really for like teen though :/

I AGREE Alibby. I feel the same. I am like u too, my look is teenage cutie. I feel like im limited to what I can strive to achieve as I feel like i will be reported as childp0rn. i find it hard 2 convince a lot of my customers that i am legal age (I DEFO AM LEGAL AGE). It's annoying becos this is the niche that was thrown at me and the only thing I can do with it, is illegal on pretty much every site. I cant advertise because my clients are the type who are into ped0 porn and i will be instantly removed from whatever site i try to advertise on. and big companies would not promote me for fear of being accused of childp0rn. if only i was born in a different body. :'(

Instead of 'teen' could you go with petite, or spinner? I know Fetlife has big groups devoted to small thin girls, not saying to market on Fetlife as that is probably a waste of time, but it indicates a lot of interest in that look. When I was a stripper I saw tiny girls bank consistently.

omg yes! i'm gonna be in the same boat lol. I mean i like my look and niche, but yeah like you said companies dont want to promote you etc b/c you look so darn young, therefore can't move up the ladder if you wanted :/ I hate when i see girls whos look is hot, sexy, mature and have "teen" or something similar as a selling point. like ugh go do femdomme or something leave the teen young look for us girls who actually look the part lol.

oh yeah, i forgot about petite, i'd have to look up spinner, i never heard of that lol.
and wow, tiny girls banking as strippers, interesting and encouraging :)

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
'spinner' is becoming increasingly popular. However, besides being thin, this niche market also seriously requires a very small frame. And I'm told that marketing yourself as 'huge' guy + 'tiny' girl ... at least in videos if not on cam ... to clearly show off your 'spinner' stature in action ... is increasingly important.
Agreed that webcam hosts are 'gunshy' about anything dealing with underage fetish promotion ... even if the camgirl herself is not actually underage. The webcam hosts simply want to totally avoid outside attention involving this particular fetish market.

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
Barely legal is one of the most popular niches if not the top niche out there. If you can't make money as a barely legal 'teen,' you aren't marketing yourself correctly. I would reevaluate your approach. Not sure if you are a stripper, cam model or video clip producer (or a combo of all 3) so can't give specific advice, but the money is there. The problem is something else, not your niche market.

well i havent started out yet, i'm gonna start camming and clip making soon. but i guess you are right. even though i dont see very many "barely legal teen" girls camming. but i know for a fact it is my niche.

well i think i could definitely look into that.
yeah and that makes sense on their part tbh.

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
Thing is about teen niche, dont worry... Time takes care of everything. Soon enough you won't be in the teen category for much longer.
Time has away of marching right across our faces.
Porn promotes who is sucking the most cocks off camera.
Do your own work..
Do your own clip stores.
Build your social media
Shoot content daily.
Cam daily
Work on marketing daily.
Eventually build out your own site with companies like Adultcentro models
Don't worry about companies building you up.. Do the work yourself, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you make all the money & NOT them.
I was told I was to fat, to old to do porn. When I started it was the world of fake boobs on barely legal skinny gals. I helped change it.
YOU determine your success. YOU determine your future & income. Trust me those old perverts in LA will NEVER have your best interest at heart. They will use you & make money off of it. It really isn't the route to go when you have so many opportunities to do it yourself.
There are numerous threads on this site to do it all on your own.
Good Luck,
Sam

^Sam knows her shit. I recommend reading ALL her posts, especially if you plan on camming. :)

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
^Agreed
When it comes to marketing and the adult industry in general, I often think of that line from Field of Dreams, "If you build it, he will come." If you build up what you're comfortable with, the customers will show up. You look innocent? Rock that for all it's worth on cam! You are very petite? do a food stuffing/bloating clip. You don't do anal? Don't! You have a large collection of shoes? Show them off! If you build up your cam persona and clip store, the people will come (and cum :p). Don't be afraid to try some weird clip categories because you never know what will work (or not). I did a toilet scrubbing clip once because I was bored and made like $50 off it. :D

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
When it comes to what you've described being popular - I don't think magazines are the "IT" in porn anymore. To me, the top ranks of porn are now some of the largest websites - Met-Art, X-Art, Hegre-Art. A lot of those are extremely high quality and have high membership and retention rates. To me playboy's online portion is seriously lacking in quality and taste as opposed to it's magazine counterpart.
Have you considered for going for one of these types of places?
As for niche markets that you could be in - consider all of the markets in which you could actually change your body. You could go for an alt-model look with suicidegirls, godsgirls, or something in that field. Or you could become a well-known fetish model. If you were to go with the latter, you would never make it huge in any individual site or place - but I think you would make far more money catering to the desires of specific niche communities.
Some of my favorite communities right now that I see one doing well in are - female lifting (where she lifts and carries males while nude), burping, feet (if you have beautiful feet), hairy armpit/bush and shaving fetishes, and pregnancy. Now the last one of course is something you shouldn't go for, but if that happens in your lifetime, there is always a HUGE demand for it in the marketplace because there are so few pregnant women in porn. If you do get pregnant, I would recommend making a HUGE repertoire of photos and videos of yourself that you can save and sell to various studios, you could sell certain sets for exclusive rights for hugely increased prices.
Just my two cents, and if you are going to be doing clips or photo sales - I would love if you would join my site, it's in the sig.
Good luck out there! I hope you make it big alibby!

Dude, what you listed are NOT what is going on in porn or the mainstream market she was asking about but further from it. When have any of us seen Lisa Ann clearly one of the biggest porn stars currently doing burping videos or pregnant porn? Much less some of the other stuff you wrote about. Tell me list 5 top girls who have half the following Lisa Ann does that are fetish models?
What you list takes her far far away from the mainstream porn industry and the fame & fortune she is seeking.
Feel like you only posted on this thread in order to try to get girls to join your program.
Not to mention, what $$$ do you have to back up that those niches make girls money? Where are the statistics to back up your advise? When has Playboy, Vivid or even Brazzers hired a girl for her hairy armpits?
The advise you give is wacked....
Sam

This is true enough. However, an important unasked question is ... will the guys that do show up actually have any money to spend ?

Sam's obvious but understated point, as well as the implied point in this thread's title, is that different niches tend to attract different types of customers ... thus girls striving for success in a particular niche need to consider whether or not that niche ( as well as the girl's individual 'vibe' ) appeals to 'upscale' customers who actually have a fair amount of 'discretionary' spending budget available.

While I understand how you may interpret it that way - from what I understood of her posts she was asking what niche's she could fit into with her current look. Girls like Faye Reagen were the types of girls I had in mind. She never went the playboy route, yet she is extremely popular and has made quite a living for herself.
Nonetheless I was offering two different ideas up for consideration - the more mainstream route of the art sites, and the less mainstream fetishes. I would hate for anyone's mind to be closed off from the possibilities out there - and I know there are plenty of models who have made a huge living from selling fetish clips on clips4sale, there's even a thread that sticks around the top of this sub where a model has made a six figure salary... It can be done - mainstream or not.

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
Ever heard of Belle Knox? She's plain as hell, has a little girl's body, and looks like a girl next door but she would probably be considered in the 10- 20 pornstars right now. She used excellent marketing techniques via the mainstream media and voila!
Self-limiting beliefs are what don't allow you to move up or make more money. Whether on cam or in porn, or both.

Re: Only Certain Niches Can Move Up In the Industry It Seems..
what are you talking about?? milf is the most in demand, followed by TEEN. the porn industry is also moving towards more natural girl next door types. so i think you are very wrong when you say that you aren't marketable.

IA, go look at the Spiegler Girls roster. That is the most prestigious agency in all of porn. He even has a long wait list even for very established starlets. And will only take girls who do b/g and more.
