Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
So, I work at an upscale gown club that I am happy at. However, I want to really bust ass and work 5 nights for as long as I can stand it. Partially because I have a big financial goal and partially because it's summer and slow season.
I like the club I'm at but I don't see many people working more than 3 nights. I also don't think it's the best idea to be in one club that many nights anyway, since there are a lot of regulars, people get tired of seeing the same person, you feel less fresh and damn, I don't have that many gowns.
So I want to find a second club, but I am assuming (and don't have a close enough or established relationship yet that I want to ask management) that it is sort of frowned upon to work in two clubs that are in the same basic location (midtown) and are basically competitors? In other words, New York wise you wouldn't work in say Scores and Hustler (not my clubs but an example) but I guess you might be able to work at a "second tier" club as a side gig. I'm not even sure what those clubs are - I couldn't do the Flash chain again due to their schedule requirements so I guess clubs that I don't hear much about like Lace, Cheetah's. VIP - vaguely remembering they are either dead or "whorehouses" from past searches here lol or maybe a Queens club. I'm definitely not an urban club girl. And I think Gallagher's house fees are kinda high for Queens. But that's O/T and I guess that would be another search/topic.
My real question is, am I correct in assuming you do not work at two competitors in Manhattan?
And secondly does anyone else anywhere, not just Manhattan, do this, have a main club and then a quieter/less upscale or different paced club that is say volume versus vip or whatever for a change of pace or are better to work on certain nights etc.
Thank you :-)
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
At times, I've work at two different clubs. Usually it's just because I've needed a change in scenery but wanted to maintain the regulars I'd built up at my home club. That said, most of the clubs I've work at had a handful of full-time dancers working 4-5 shifts a week every week (both during the day and at night), so IMO it would not at all be strange to work more than 3 shifts at the same club. It can actually be a good thing since you can cultivate more regulars (I'm here all week vs. I'm only around on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday nights) and better get to know which customers/regulars are a waste of time. I suppose in dive bars where it's mostly regulars and few random customers, you wouldn't be "fresh," but I'd be surprised if that's the case in an upscale NYC club.
If you're happy with your earnings there, why not give it a shot to work 5 nights at your current club? You may be surprised to see that you're not the only dancer doing so, and perhaps you'll find a new, more lucrative shift. Worst case scenario, you decide it's not for you and you can start looking for a second club.
FWIW I also don't think it's a big deal to wear the same outfit more than once a week, since only the regular customers will have seen it recently -- and quite frankly, many of them likely aren't paying attention to your outfit so they may not even notice!
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
Thank you - that's actually not a bad idea - worth trying at least - I was just reading through the club reviews of clubs I didn't know much about here in NYC and NOT getting excited!!
Lol on the gowns - yes, that's a good point
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
I see girls circulating clubs in Manhattan all the time. I briefly worked at both Scores and Rick's and I was not the only one for sure. Everyone I knew who did this kept it hush hush, however. A lot of clubs claim you need to work a weekly minimum but I've never seen it enforced. I only work at Flash now because they truly demand three shifts a week, but it is definitely feasible to do three there and two elsewhere even if the other club asks for three as well.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
^ Ahh that's cool - yeah I guess if anyone sees you they are doing the same thing themselves. I just didn't want to get fired because I don't know my club so well yet. And yes, Flash actually does enforce. I didn't mean to call it "second tier" btw I meant the chain in general, please if your club has practically 7 nights a week goldmine potential its top tier in my eyes.
Hope your boobies are healing and fluffing super fast!!
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
You can def work two Manhattan clubs. I know many girls that do this but they just don't talk about it.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
Thank you misty! And don't worry, you didn't offend. I know I have different priorities when it comes to selecting a club than many dancers in Manhattan. I'll skimp on dressing room amenities and teensy bit in earning potential (rooms fill up FAST so if you don't get one early and extend forever you're stuck on the floor) in exchange for other benefits, such as HAVING to go to work because I'm lazy as fuck. This means I actually net much more per month now than I did at the club where I had my highest shift average.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
Yeah, you can do it. I wouldn't talk about it to anyone, especially managers. They can get a little weird about it if they find out. The only thing is that you may need to commit to more shifts than you'd like... I know the Flash chain and Hustler really demand strict scheduling, so you may need to find a way around that. I like working at one upscale club and one dive, that way there's a variety in customers and hustle.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
Indeed competing Manhattan upscale clubs do NOT take kindly to dancers who work 'both sides of the street'. Thus choosing to do so is a calculated risk.
Working in a Queens or north Jersey club along with a Manhattan club is a much 'safer' bet ... given the improbability of a customer seeing you first in a Queens or north Jersey club and then the same customer seeing you again in a Manhattan club. Where two Manhattan clubs are concerned, the odds of the same customer showing up in both clubs is far higher.
It's also not unknown for certain clubs to send 'spies' into competing clubs to 'check out the competition' ... and in the process also note that a particular dancer is working for the competition. Again, the probability of this happening is next to non-existant for Queens or north Jersey clubs, because the upscale Manhattan clubs don't regard them as real competition.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
Right, you don't really have to worry about the custies seeing you but managers or bouncers that get sent to other clubs to see who is working where and to recruit hot girls and bring them over to their club.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
OK, I am gonna try work extra shifts at my own club and if not I might try it out with a dark wig and totally different look. Totally get the advice about the outer boroughs/North Jersey too. Maybe even Lace in upstate - I saw that in a stripper documentary once and they use to pick girls up in the city and take them up there on a bus!
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
^I think they still do that. They would shuttle girls from a sister club I used to work at. You'd have to call Lace and ask them where the shuttle bus location and time is.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
You really don't have to go as far as wearing a wig. I've never heard of a girl getting actually fired for working at two clubs. At my club, they just guilt trip you but I've never seen anyone get fired.
Re: Question mostly for New York girls but any input appreciated!
I've always wondered this same thing. Have only worked one club for this same reason.
