Booking an appropriate hotel in Manhattan - advice requested
Hi all... I am an escort, thinking about planning a trip to NYC for work. I have a few requests from out there so I figured it would be fruitful to check out the area.
I've made the mistake once upon a time of booking a hotel where you had to have a keycard in order to get up the elevator. It was an awkward situation between me and the desk staff having to meet clients in the lobby, just awful lol. When looking at hotels online, is there any way to tell whether or not it is open access or key-only access?
All advice appreciated

The only way of knowing is before you book - call the hotel and ask them if they have it.
some might be full key card all the time, some are key card after a certain time of night.

Yes, call and ask.
I know what you mean. I've sneaked through many elevators on the heels of guests putting their key in ( massage ) .

This is my check list for hotels:
-large (100+ rooms)
-elevator not near reception
-no CCTV footage
-no keycard for elevator
-centrally located
-parking
You can find most of this out by studying the website but you can also call. Saafe.info is a godsend and has great reviews for hotels.

saafe.info is only for the UK - not a site for Canada or US.
How you would know if the elevators is not hear reception. some websites just have stock photos of hotels.

Check out SafeOffice for hotel reviews. Most hotels in Manhattan have keycards. Most hotels in any urban area are keycards, actually.

Look at the hotels pics and if you can't tell call?? Say you're handicapped.

Virtually all of the nicer hotels that I've stayed at in Manhattan had either key card access or guys manning the elevator entrance, checking for cards. This is especially true for the Midtown west hotels near Times Square and the Theatre District. In order to avoid this you may need to go a little down market and pick a hotel in a part of the city that is quieter at night (Midtown East, downtown), but I suspect that finding a decent hotel in Manhattan that doesn't have some kind of security procedure is going to be tough. Most of these hotels are concerned about homeless people and other undesirables having un-fettered access to guest floors.

^I actually find I usually have to go up-scale to find a hotel that meets my requirements in London. but have no idea what it's like in NYC. It's annoying.

Yeah, I noticed that about SAAFE. I notice there are a lot of sexworker-friendly resources based in Europe, not so much for the US. Hhmph.
I will be in NYC staying for a few days with a friend "for fun" before I start working, so luckily I can scout out the hotels of interest for myself and see what the layout is like.

So Update, a former escort I met who used to work in NYC recently gave me a long list of mid-range hotels that are great for work (meaning, not a sleazy roach motel but not necessarily The Plaza, either). All the hotels have open access and are located within the business districts of East or West Midtown. If anyone would like a list PM me and I will send over!
