New site owner, hoping to find a warm welcome!
Hi everyone,
I'm a guy who just started a new site, and while I do need new members I don't want to be rampant in my advertising, I hope to find a lot of insight into the industry here and make some new friends.
As a hobby I do woodworking, and sell my stuff on etsy on occassion, I tend to stick to an industrial style look for that modern old age feel.
I'm professionally trained as an artist, graphic designer, but mainly a 3D modeler for video game design...however the industry is tough to break into - so I'm hoping this one will be a little kinder, and who wouldn't want to look at beautiful women all day?
How's everyone here doing? I'd love to know what brought you to the site!

Hi Dona,
I run a commission based sales site, where you can upload photos and videos for sale, with a focus on having the highest commission and quality on the web.
I am not exactly sure what to call that sort of site, I wish I had a more clearcut name for it. But the goal is to offer custom and fetish content from amateur models who want to make a living without having to be on cam for most of the day.

DDuckworth, it is called a content site. However, I am looking at your site and I see nothing. You have only 12 models and why are you using both bitcoins/cash instead of just cash? I do not know if you know this but that is how Talk Sugar left the adult entertainment industry. Trying to pay their entertainers bitcoins. I do not about the other adult entertainers but I would be very weary of accepting bitcoins as payment. Good luck anyways ;)

Ah, thank you so much for the clarification - I have been wondering what to call it for months!
With our service, the models can choose to accept bitcoin or not - and any bitcoin that comes in to be paid to them is automatically converted into cash for them to withdraw. It's a completely optional feature and you don't lose out on sales because of it. I wanted to open up the market to enable customers who would rather keep their identities anonymous from prying eyes of girlfriends/wives to be able to still enjoy quality adult content. With bitcoin your spendings are anonymous - and there is no risk due to us using the payment processor coinbase. We don't hold any bitcoin on site - it's the same way dell is now offering bitcoin purchases, and just today they sold a $50,000 server all paid for in bitcoin, announced on their twitter. It's good stuff! You just have to take all the risk out of it :)
Re: New site owner, hoping to find a warm welcome!
in regard to BitCoin ... see for the results of recent IRS court ruling ...
(snip)The IRS ruled that Bitcoin and other virtual currencies are property, not currency. This means that they are subject to capital gains taxation. And that means that Bitcoins are not fungible. The price at which a particular Bitcoin was acquired (and this is traceable) determines the capital gains on that particular Bitcoin when spent. If I spend Bitcoin A, which I bought at $10, but is now worth $400, I’ve got a very different tax treatment than if I spend Bitcoin B, which I bought at $390. (Poor Satoshi--he's got a lot more capital gains than most...) This means Bitcoins are not fungible, and that makes it unworkable as a currency. If I have to figure out which particular Bitcoin in my wallet I want to spend and what the tax treatment will be, Bitcoin just doesn't work as a commercial medium of exchange. Bitcoin still works as a speculative medium, but Bitcoin's claim has always been to being more than the latest iteration of the trading sardines-(snip)
(snip)"Bitcoin users will have to calculate their gain or loss every time they purchase goods or services with bitcoin. Yes, this is a very onerous burden and creates a significant threat to the widespread adoption of bitcoin. However, this outcome is not very surprising and is consistent with US tax laws. Hopefully the Treasury Department or Congress can be convinced to apply a "personal transaction" exception similar to the one that exists for foreign currency. But for now, this is how it will have to work.
When calculating your gain or loss, you must determine "amount realized" and "basis." When buying goods or services with bitcoin, the amount realized is equal to the fair market value of whatever you received. When selling bitcoin, the amount realized is the sales price less any transaction fees.
The biggest issue for most bitcoin users is determining their basis. Because bitcoins are fungible, you run into the problem of tracing the cost of each bitcoin you hold. You cannot just arbitrarily choose your basis. The IRS will permit you to use the FIFO method (First in, First out). (snip)
All of this ( new ) IRS compliance burden falls directly on the camgirls who will be receiving BitCoin 'shares' as payment ( thus establishing the cost 'basis' for one week's bitcoin payment at that week's market price for Bitcoin 'shares' ), and later reconverting those BitCoin 'shares' back into cash value when a purchase is made ( thus establishing the 'amount realized' at this week's different market price for Bitcoin 'shares' ). Things get even more complicated when a large purchase is made using BitCoins which were acquired during different weeks, since different 'age' BitCoins will have a different cost 'basis' ).
Technically speaking, as a result of this IRS ruling, US camgirls must now make an individual line item entry on their IRS tax return Schedule D for every time they 'spent' BitCoins. That line item entry must include the 'amount realized' i.e. the price in BitCoin converted dollars ( on the date they were spent ) of whatever was purchased, as well as the dollar converted cost 'basis' of the particular BitCoins which were 'spent' ( which depends on the conversion rate which existed during the week those particular bitcoins were actually 'received' ). Any differences between the BitCoin 'price' during the week they were received, and the BitCoin 'price' during the week they were 'spent', must then be accounted for as a capital gain or loss - which may create additional capital gains tax liability.
Re: New site owner, hoping to find a warm welcome!
Bitcoin as an option may attract that small percentage of models wanting to stay off the radar, but putting the name in your website gives the impression you must use it. Agree w one poster above, there is nothing on the site, ("No preview available till after Beta") so why would anyone ever remember to come back? There needs to be something, even a tease of a few killer images, at least...
Good luck.
And Melonie, thanks again for the 'education' on IRS and BitCoin. Who ever thought a site like SW would be so educational?

Hi CFMNH,
Thanks so much for your insights! They are a huge help to me. I initially had planned to have an invite only beta and that's the reason for the lack of a preview. Also at the time we didn't have any models so there wasn't much to show. However the site has grown and I believe I can probably get a nice preview going.
The name was a struggle, but it was the only decent name we could come up with that was available as a domain. I intend to soon place the subtext "Earn cash and Bitcoin in your free time" below the banner title. However I know the domain and first impression still don't work in my favor. Any suggestions for what I could do about that?
Re: New site owner, hoping to find a warm welcome!
Hi and welcome to the SW - the best place to post about your content site and get helpful responses would be industry insight and the marketplace - best of luck with your site
Re: New site owner, hoping to find a warm welcome!
Hey Nikki,
I've had a thread up in the industry insight section for a while, but I should definitely put it up in the marketplace as well! I didn't mean to discuss the site on this thread - that just sorta ended up happening and sorry for that. But thank you so much for the warm welcome!
Re: New site owner, hoping to find a warm welcome!
no worries - I just thought you could get more feedback/insight in those areas - this section gets a bit less traffic - lots of savvy sex workers on SW who will share
