Is that bullshit I smell?
Last night I received these texts from this supposed girl and was naturally suspicious. First of all, I don't remember meeting the girl in the picture. It's totally possible id just had a few drinks and it was late into my shift, but I don't usually interact with many female customers, nor do I give my number out often, so I feel like I would definitely remember this exchange but I don't. I do remember giving my number to a different girl than one in the picture (brunette) recently, as well as to a girl who works at that club. Here's the text convo we had. Am I correct to assume that this is a scam? Because it seems like one to me, but I could be wrong I guess (Sorry it's long).
- Hi *****, it's Candice. I met you at [club] last week when I came through with a friend and his friend who fights UFC. By chance do you remember?
- I'm not sure. What day was this?
- Saturday night. I'll send you a pic
[sends pic of blonde chick]
I'm born and raised here & my sister lives in *****. My dad publishes a local magazine and he's always looking for different models to network with. Also, I'd like to introduce you to my biz partners who are making 20-30k on a slow month. You have got to meet them! They are training me too & I thought you might be interested in an additional revenue stream.
- what kind of business is this?
- We're one of the largest communication companies on the West Coast. I'm big on women empowerment & will be putting together some things with that with our other partner who is on the Housewives reality tv show. You free at 6:30 tomorrow night?
- Sorry I'm not quite following, what exactly would I be doing? And no I'm working this weekend.. Not free until during the week maybe.
- Ok that's cool. I'll explain more when we meet so you can get a better understanding. It's all about setting up various revenue streams. Do you do any other business than working @ [club]
- Thats a little bit too vague for me. No I'm just working there at the moment.
-Ok well it's simple. If you'd like to meet my biz partner he can show you how to do exactly what we do but he's super busy so let me know if you're interested & I'll help arrange to connect you guys.
- I'm gonna have to respectfully decline because to be honest I don't remember you and you haven't given me much information or even a company name, I'm unsure of what you're even asking and I just am not interested, sorry.
- Ok no worries. I've got a partner who works at another club. If you ever want more info or want to make some killer $$ feel free to reach out to me & I'll keep you in mind for modeling opportunities. Have a good night hun!

Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
My guess? The club provided that information without your consent.t
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
I had someone say shit like this to me before too, but it started off in a grocery store. It was really weird. This girl just said she had seen my shoes before and then tried to make me work for her father but would never say what he did. It was like, "Well, it's complicated. You'd have to see the business in action. Are you a go-getter? Are you ready to make money? Then you'll do well." Uh... what? It was all a bunch of buzz words and trying to convince me to meet him to talk out my employment. I was just trying to buy groceries and kept checking that no one was walking up from the other side to rob me or something. Anyway, regardless of how she got your info, it's 100% bullshit.

OMG, how many evasive buzzwords can she cram into one text? I agree with others who think you're being targeted by sex traffickers. Be safe and stay away from her!
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
It's probably escorting or private parties. I'm leaning toward escorting because the person never said exactly what the work entails.
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
^ But if it's legit escorting/private parties, why be so vague about it, especially to a stripper? It's not like we clutch our pearls at that sort of thing. And throwing around numbers like 20/30k is really bizarre. Why not say something even remotely believable like, "You can make an extra $800 a week with us!" or whatever? It just seems like this person is treating OP like a total mark.
Admittedly maybe it's not sex trafficking, but that has all the signs of being some type of scam.
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
My first thought was that this "chick" is a recruiter for a pimp.
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
Yeah, that sounds totally weird. If her partner is so "busy" she'd have to arrange a meeting, why would she choose a random dancer she met at a club and risk her name and reputation with them if you flake out? Especially with that much money involved? Well done on your part, you sensed it and went with your intuition. You also handled it with class and asked appropriate questions. There are waaaaaay too many women that would have fallen victim to that.
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
This is an updated version of the old "modeling" front for prostitution. Stay away.
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
Either sex trafficking or an Amway style pyramid scheme.... excuse me... Multi Level Marketing.
Whatever it is, you don't want anything to do with it.
Re: Is that bullshit I smell?
Either recruiting for a pimp OR some stupid pyramid scheme business. They're getting way too popular now.
