"To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
Thanks in advance for Your suggestions.
This summer, I have put in long hours everyday on cam... usually 8-12 hrs. 7 days per week. (some hours are in voyeur).
I have been camming for 4 yrs., so I've built up thousands of repeat custies, as well as regulars.
This summer has been brutal, as most of us know, with actual 'paying' traffic. (The soccer games, mercury in retrograde, etc, etc.)
Every time I'm online, I have hundreds of my custies, enter chat, say hi, tell me how beautiful I am, ...then leave. I even privately type to them, and refer to my notes on what we did in prvt. the last time, etc. to entice them. Still nothing.:(
Last week, when I was bored, and oh so tired of the last 3 months being like this,... I started counting the $ I would have made...
if they had spent on me (I only counted a minute in prvt., not what each had already spent on me in the past).
After doing this for a week, I added up the total yesterday, and let's just say... it was enough so that I could have taken a week off for once, and not have to put in so many hours to make my goals.
I'm just wondering if I should ban these guys, or just ignore them..
Oh, and P.S., they even come on other sites I'm on, as well, and do the same thing.
Also, should I ban the same screen names that pop in every day, yet haven't ever spent a dime on me? Or even say hello?
Thanks, Glam

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I usually give them 3 months to spend money sometimes only a month if i am annoyed.. then they get banned..... depends on my mood.. because it is really annoying for the same guy to pop into free chat all day long , every day and never spend a dime... and btw i reversed my rates on SM!.. I charge less in exclusive and it has been so NICE and less stressful.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
If they come into my room 3 days in a row without tipping, join in a goldshow, or take me to private. That is when I ban.
-
Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
Personally I would either ignore or kick them out. Since if you ban them there is NO possible way anymore to make money out of them. If you kick it will be quit obvious to the guy you are not happy at the moment with him in free chat I think.
Oh you can also ban from chat but leave his mail unbanned (at streamate) so they can still redeem themselves by mailing you to get back.
If it is a truly moodkiller though I would ban. Sometimes we just need those little good moments in life ;)
-
Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I usually just start being short with them or ignoring them. They can usually tell that I'm annoyed and will either spend money or stop coming by. The ones that are too stupid to catch on and continue to bug me without spending money get banned.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
Glad to see it's not just me that is dealing with this B.S.! Thanks for the suggestions.
Anon- I agree with doing the reversal of rates. It is def. more pleasurable, and a lot less stressful for sure.
When I do get someone in premium, and another person enters... I stop whatever I'm doing, cover my body, and pull up his profile, and get ready to ban. I've caught several peepers in the past few weeks, since I've started to do this. I can tell they are a peeper, if when I say hello to them, they ignore me.
It's easier to catch them now, since I don't offer toys anymore in premium. so my hands are free to ban quickly.
Oh, and regarding the ban button, I always leave the messaging option open, if they havn't said anything too douchy, and hardly anyone ever messages me as to why they were banned.
I did get a bit 'banhammer' happy a couple of weeks ago, and banned a guy who wouldn't say hello, yet stayed in chat a good 5 minutes. he messaged me that he was looking at my pictures, and shame on me for banning him. Oh well. he just got in the crossfire of a very long and awful summer.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
Yeah, I'm with Audri. After a few days of constant in-and-out with no tips/shows, I do ban them. Why? Because in nearly every case these are the guys who pop in and out during my shifts and as soon as I'm in premium peep in over and over and over. I should just reverse my rates again, but I prefer exclusive being more expensive so that I can say 'c2c/phone/toys/specific requests? Pay me more BITCH!' I hate the peepers more though... Ugh, it's frustrating.
And yeah--I've had guys bitch that they got banned just looking at pics or reading my profile or (my favorite) because they left their computer for a minute. Dude, NO. If you spend that long looking at my pics or reading my short profile, you're jacking off for free and mad that your porn material got taken away. And leaving your computer? Um, tough shit. Don't camp in my room for 20 minutes.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I don't ban anyone unless they are beggers or abusive.
I will kick guys to make their time in my free chat as 'unsatisfying' as possible.
On more then one occasion when I've kicked a guy from my room he will either come back in showing his true colours by being abusive (then I can immediately ban him) or tip me.
If they don't tip me, I'll just keep kicking them out of my room after a certain amount of time. This gives me great pleasure on days that have been hard.
Guys aren't a dumb as they pretend to be. If you give them consequences for their actions they will catch on really quickly.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
^^ When you kick them, and they come right back and ask why you did that-Do you have a pre-set text you send them, or just say it outloud? If so, what do you say?
-
Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I hate it so much.
Last couple of times I have said,
"You know I have made a note next to your name. Do you know what it says?"
"what, bb"
"It says that you never spend money on me. If you continue to lurk I'm going to have to ban you because it's really disrespectful."
After I said that he tipped me $10 and apologised.
I hate it. I tell them that either they pay, or I'll have to kick them. All guys get 5 minutes in free chat, then I tell them that I want either gold, paid, or they get kicked. Some hate it but I don't care.

Every time I hear 'did you seriously just dislog me?' I roll my eyes. One, because they do seriously say dislodge/dislog/disloggy/anything but KICKED OUT and, two, because it's very readily apparent that I did. If they say that or, worse, stay quiet, I tell them that parking isn't allowed in my room (they usually get that text before I kick them anyway, since it's pre-set) and if they get snippy, I usually mock them before a ban.
The last guy who tried to get smart with me actually said "oh, she just thinks she's better than me because she has nice teeth!" To my entire room, "no, I know I'm better than you because I'm hot, control the ban hammer, and have nice teeth." Well, paraphrasing, but that one didn't get his kicks.
Part of my system is my philosophy. I don't want guys who are sitting there 'debating' if they think I'm worth a show as customers. Yeah, I wanna get paid, but not by someone who's gonna be picky and a pain in my ass. If they take that long to convince, I don't want 'em anyway, so I ban. Tough shit dudes. Though I will occasionally leave messages open so they can beg forgiveness.

I don't say a thing. I ignore their inquiries and just keep kicking them until they learn what is acceptable behaviour in my room.
I believe in dealing with men with behaviour problems in my free chat in a similar way that teacher deal with kids with behaviour problems in the classroom.
No lectures, just consequences for unacceptable behaviours. ;)
If they start acting entitled and demanding answers or getting abusive after I have kicked them and I am showing them no attention and ignoring them then they have shown their true colours and I will ban them since I have no desire to do a show with an entitled and abusive man. I don't consider it losing out on money if it is a show I have no desire to do anyway.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
^^I love it! Great answers everyone! Next time I turn on my cam, I'm now well prepared. Thank you!
-
Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I say ban but I'm very fast at banning. If I hear them say 'Maybe", "I'll come back later", "Don't have money right now", "I just want to chat" and those type of bullshit, I ban right away.
-
Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
^^ Yes, for sure! I always ban as well when I hear any of those excuses also. Especially the ones who want to talk about how my day is going, yada yada.
Guys irl don't even get chatty, so I'm sure most on a cam site don't either. Plus, talking wears me out anyway, and 99% of guys who spend on me, whether it's a tip, or that take me prvt. right away, don't waste my time gibber jabbering.
I know some girls might enjoy the banter, and small talk, but I'm online for 1 reason.. to get money, not make male friends, especially on a sex site.
These guys don't care about my well being in the least.

Disclaimer: I mean this as civilly as possible. I just want to put my rebuttal out there, because your opinion is definitely one I've heard several times and while it doesn't match mine, it's completely valid. Just saying that because I don't want this to be the start of another all out thread war and what not--I hate when that happens on here. And...moving on.
I am most certainly not a complete failure as a cam model. My average hourly is exactly where I'd like it to be and I pull in more than enough to pay all of my bills between the 3-4 sites I regularly work, so--by my own estimation--I think I'm quite successful.
I ban for several reasons: peeping, trolling, rude or abusive comments, pressure for shows that violate a site's terms of service (i.e. incest, scat, blood play, etc.), and--yes--parking in my room for long periods of time (after several warnings and kicks from me). Some of those are personal peeves and some of them are pretty sensible. To each their own. For example, I kick guys out if they say they don't have money for a show today. Why? Because you have no business coming into a store to examine the merchandise with no intention of spending. In my world, that's called loitering. Ban worthy? Not on the first offense. After a couple of kicks though? I ban. It's disrespectful to me as a business owner. And that's a personal peeve that isn't everyone's cup of tea.
In response to the heartless bitch that no one spends on commentary, I've never had that problem either. The only guys who get mad are the ones who weren't spending anyway. I ban quietly and warn via a pre-set private message feature on SM. The only ones who get publicly called out are the ones who start getting abusive about being ignored, kicked, or told no. Why? Because I respect myself too much to tolerate that. Most of my customers (i.e. people in my room tipping or buying shows) never know about other members getting kicked or banned, so I'm hardly developing a reputation with them. Hell--some of my regs do the beat downs for me when a member gets abusive or demanding in party/group chat.
I don't ban indiscriminately. I have excellent regulars and new customers every time I log in. I'm making good money. I rarely if ever post in the "Camming Sucks" thread anymore because, honestly, I don't have any legitimate complaints about the way I do business.

You sound like a dude, anyone else getting that vibe? I'm feeling a dick both in the pants and in the personality. Where do you get off being so condescending and rude to these women?
-
Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I used to ban them, but allowed them to message me for another chance or whatever...but 99 percent of time they just whine and drop all fuck you bombs that they just did not have money today and wanted to compliment me for my cute eyes or whatever. That comments alone scream that they have NO intention of paying at all, not today nor in future. So, I just ban the hell out of them and if they really want to talk or to be nice and buy my show, they would try and google my username and find me somewhere else.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
I am a novelty, I don't have to convert. I enjoy banning. It gets me high!

Here’s the general consensus I hear in this thread: traffic is not very good and I’m not making money, so I just start banning and chasing away potential customers so I end up with no customers. What kind of strategy is that?
You girls are complete morons if you follow that philosophy. Yes, I realize that there are guys who will never spend a single nickel on you and there are abusive members who deserve a ban. And you should not waste your time on those cheap guys nor should you be subject to abuse.
But when you ban, you get a reputation as a heartless bitch and then no one spends. You think you are in control but this industry is driven by the men who spend their hard earned money. If you are unfriendly, there is always another girl "one click" away.
This is a business of relationships and if you are unable to form relationships with your customers, you are doomed to failure. So, enjoy your “ban hammer” and then come back to stripper web and complain about how “slow” it is.
Or you could work on converting those non-paying customers to paying customers (PMs and such), but it is easier just to hit the ban button.
Amusing. I can tell by this post that you haven't read a lot of sales books.

Re: "To Ban, Or Not To Ban?",..That Is The Question
If it wasn't for them being able to come back and scum us over I would just kick. So instead I ban. Kicking would totally teach them what's acceptable and what's not. Except then they come back and take you pvt or excl and we all know what happens next 9 times out of 10. You get douched.

You make an excellent point Mare.

When you have some experience you learn which will spend and which will not.
Once I unbanned my whole list of guys i had previously banned. guess what? I had to ban most of them yet again because they never spent a dime.
When you spend your time on these idiots you are ignoring the ones who do have money and would be happy to spend.
