I think this should be a permanent post.
some of these "tips" are really judgmental/offensive...maybe they are things to remember if you come from a place of privilege but then you are certainly not challenging yourself. for the rest of us and i think also the majority of sex workers, these come across as self righteous. particularly #3, #6 (victim blaming is gross) , #8 , 10 and 11 together, #12, #15 (WTF??), #24, #29 are all very problematic.
The link won't work, but considering how offensive just the title sounds, it's probably a good thing. Fifty bucks says a client wrote it.
I don't think this should be a permanent post at all. I am convinced you are a troll.
There were a few mentions abt saving $$$, preparing for future, finding enjoyment in the job, that I thought were reasonable, but for most of them I agree w/ the others that this is just disgusting. Sm of the ones I found most offencive:
"Prostitution attracts ppl who like to give"
"You're not a victim unless you allow sm1 to make you a victim"
"Being paranoid is almost as bad as the thing you're being paranoid of"
"if you respect your client, your client will respect you" -- pretty ironic advise considering the generally patronising tone of most of the post
"You are always in control" -- ideally yes, but sm times, shit happens.
'Tips' like this are written by ppl who don't know a damn thing abt how the sex industry actually works. Sex work is the last business you should 'not be paranoid' in. You printed this out in 2003 -- assuming you're not a troll & have just been grossly misled, have you really been swallowing this crap for that long? It brings to mind the 'knowledge' displayed by the 'friend' you described in your 'Am I too idealistic' thread.
