Re: Need tips for hurt feet
Insoles are pretty great. I think mine are Dr. Scholl's, but I usually just get whatever brand is on sale when I need em.
Also, I always take my shoes off for dances. That really helps lessen the amount of pain since you're not in them as much and it gives your feet a break.

do you wear mules (shoes w/o straps?) or ankle strap shoes? i have a hard time putting them back on in the dark LD room.
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
Do you wear the same shoes all night? I've found it helps to switch maybe 2/3 through a shift. Also, is there really that strong of an incentive to work 8-hour shifts? 6-hour shifts are so much easier on your feet and body.

No straps, just slip ons. Straps would definitely make taking the shoes off for dances annoying. Maybe pick up a pair without straps?
Also +1 on azaleanola's suggestion of not working 8 hour shifts often if you can avoid it. My club's minimum is 5 hours, and I usually stick around for no more than 6 unless I've got a big spender. I definitely pay for it the next day when I stay longer though!
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
Have you tried tall boots? I have found they give better overall joint support (esp thigh highs)& that also translates to less pain in the feet, plus I have nvr had to 'break in' boots.
Also, maybe the platforms are too short in relation to the heel hgt? I try to not have more than 2.5"-3" difference between platform & heel hgt.

That's a good idea! Urea my club is only open at night and my shift starts at 7, but the prime LD time is after they get drunk around midnight so usually staying until 3 is worth it. Maybe not worth the foot pain though. Lol
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
Dr Scholls insoles then an Epsom salt soak as soon as I get home.
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
I have horrendous crunchy-crackly knees that can hurt really badly from long shifts like your feet. I've found that taking anti-inflammatories (aspirin or ibuprofen) when I start my shift helps prevent pain and that awful morning-after stiff gait.
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
what kinds of shoes are you wearing? are they the normal supportive stripper heel? the heels that are shorter are actually less supportive i've found. dr scholls , they even have ones for high heels..i absolutely love the really squishy gel ones. maybe they are too tight or jus not a good fit for your feet? i also find that i put WAY too much pressure on the balls of my feet, i need to remember to distribute my weight better on the whole foot when i'm standing
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
Epsom salt baths!! I could really go for one right now :)
Re: Need tips for hurt feet
I wear single strap 7" heels and take them off for LDs. I just don't buckle them all the way, just through the hole real quick when I'm done dancing. It helps a lot. I also work 7 1/2 hour shifts because I come in at 6:30 and and stay for that last hour between when my shift officially ends and until the club closes is "power hour" lol
Take them off for LDs. Don't sit with custies. Encourage them to take you for LDs and if they don't, walk. LOL the goal is to get someone to let you take those shoes off as often as possible.
Epsom salts work miracles, and giving yourself a foot massage when you get home is really crucial. I like to rub my feet with coconut oil and lavender, or lemonbalm (or both) because it's very soothing for poor tired feet. Tea tree oil is both cooling and invigorating.

Your shoes are probably too small. I've got wide feet and this happens to me when I wear closed toe shoes. Try a strappy sandal that lets your toes spread out a bit and you should be feeling better. Try a shoe like this: Attachment 38908

Why not work from 9:59 until 3 or 4? Does the money you save by paying a lower house fee really outweigh the money you make when you're still in a decent mood at 3am?
