Quick Audition Question ...
Okay So iCalled In & Asked About Auditioning At a New Club & The Manager On Duty Said To Just Come In Whenever iWant To Work a Full 7hr Shift For My Audition! Is This Common? He Has Never Seen Me In Person Before & Hasn't Even Had An Actual Conversation With Me About Experience Or Anything. Has This Happened To Any Of You? & If So Did You Actually Work The Entire Shift? This Will Be My 1st Club & I'm SO Nervous
Re: Quick Audition Question ...
The club I work at currently had me audition, and after I got hired, I worked a full shift that same day. The club I'm going to audition at soon has you do a stage audition, and then you work a shift. The manager explained that working would be part of the audition because they want to see how we are with the customers, get a real feel for our work personality, see how many dances we sell, but mostly they just want to see our personality; no matter how visually appealing you are on stage, if you're going to be rude and grumpy all night, there's no point in bringing you on. Maybe that's what your club is trying to see too! :]
Re: Quick Audition Question ...
It's pretty common in larger cities. I always recommend that dancers audition with the knowledge that they may get hired on the spot, meaning your 1st shift starts right away. Las Vegas operates on that model, which sucks if you get turned down for your first choice, and then have wait until the next shift rolls around to try a new club.
Re: Quick Audition Question ...
Don't think you're hired just yet. Management will almost always tell anyone over the phone to come in for an audition/trial shift, but they won't actually decide if you can go through with the audition/trial shift until you come to them in person and they see you. So, go in looking good and ready to work, but just know that a 'yes' over the phone isn't an actual 'yes.'
Re: Quick Audition Question ...
That's sort of what happened with me. I called the night prior and they told me to come in anytime to audition. When I showed up the manager wanted me to work that night. I ended up working the following nigh instead. A friend of my mine called to audition a few days later and they just told her to show up and work. My point being: It's not uncommon if it's a new club that needs girls and caters towards a wider audience (i.e. isn't notorious for hiring just tall, thin blondes or something). They're gonna ask you most of the questions when you get there. Just be prepared to work a full night. And try not to be nervous. Just own it!
