Gut instinct - is he vice?
So I had a good day shift Wednesday, it was towards the end of my shift and a younger, bald muscular guy is standing around near the bar. As I walked by, he got my attention and immediately took me to a booth in VIP to do dances (we have $20 dances regardless of where you are in the club). We talk for a minute while waiting for the next song to start and he asks me what I do for fun etc.. I asked what he does for fun and he says "I work a lot... I'm not a cop though. I'm in IT sales".
I didn't say anything about police or anything even remotely relevant to that. I did dances for him and while it is a high contact club, I had a weird gut feeling and wouldn't even let him touch my boobs (which is the norm in that club if they're spending money). After the third song I just got weirded out and had a feeling like something wasn't right. I politely excused myself by saying I had to go on stage. I could have gotten a few more dances out of him, but I couldn't shake why he randomly said he wasn't a cop etc. Before I left, he asked if I met people outside the club to which I replied no.
Should I have stayed and danced? I've been dancing on and off for 11 years and have NEVER had a feeling like that. I'm not upset with myself about it, I didn't do anything wrong and I always trust my gut but maybe I was being too paranoid? I have no experience with vice or raids and would appreciate any input on it. Thanks!
ETA: While I am a clean dancer, I still get worried that they would find something wrong. I'm a single mom and trying to go to law school so I don't need ANY kind of arrest on my record so I err on the side of caution.
Re: Gut instinct - is he vice?
Idk if the guy was a cop or not, but speaking as sm1 who grew up in a family full of them: if he was a cop & in there looking for dirt, I doubt he would have dropped such a huge hint. Cops don't typically start investigating unless they catch wind of smtg that needs investigating(probable cause or the prelude to it) & good cops who know wtf they are doing won't compromise such an investigation by advertising their presence.
That said, one of the golden rules of dancing IME is to ALWAYS trust your intuition. If a customer is acting squirrelly for any reason, we are wise to take that 'inner hint' & act accordingly. Maybe he was an IT guy who works w/ police, Idk. He could be perfectly harmless himself but be in tight w/ ppl(cops) who could come looking for trouble. Maybe he thought it would be fun to play 'Rattle the Stripper' & bet on nothing getting you rattled faster than dropping the C word. In any case, I think you were right to excuse yourself, for your own comfort at the very least.
Re: Gut instinct - is he vice?
Thanks for the reply. Perhaps he does just know some cops and wanted to see me a little shaken, but I held my composure. I felt a little silly for not staying for more dances because surely a legit cop wouldn't be so stupid as to give such a big hint like that. I think if anything he would end up becoming a creepy overly possessive regular. Regardless, I'm glad I always trust my instincts.
