Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Should entry level cam girls ward off high rates until they get regulars?
I spoke with a cam girl on my personal tumblr and she told me to start out on Streamate at $1.99/minute. Yeah right! I currently have it set at $4.99 for both private and exclusive.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Why do you have the same rates for both? Even SM advises against that.
as for rates, I think you should what you're comfortable with. If you're happy with $4.99 and the customers come, then go for it.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
I'm with beauvoir here. Why the same rates for those? The prevailing theories are to price premium cheaper by however much you want to ($1-2 is common) and exclusive higher to make it worth it for you to work for only one person. The alternative for this is to set exclusive cheaper so you can do 1-on-1 shows without peepers harassing you. I've used both with great success, but the same price? I lose all the benefits. That's just me though.
As for beginning rates, only you can tell what works for you. Obviously, you think you're worth more than $1.99/minute (and GOOD FOR YOU!), so charge as much as you think you're worth girl!
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Don't charge $1.99/minute...sure you might constantly be in private but I promise you your body will hate you after your shift. You only need to be in private half the time as $1.99 to make the same amount with $3.99 so remember it isn't about always being in a show.
ps this is a great thread ---> https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...ght=raise+rate
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
I would keep your private at $4.99 and exclusive at $8.99 for starter! Go big or go home!

I wasn't sure which I preferred and just have it set there by default. You all are my gurus and I seek wisdom from you. I haven't cammed on Streamate yet, but thank you so much for suggestions. I'm going to most definitely change exclusive to be higher asap.

Yaaaas! That sounds ideal. Like your sig and avi advise, I gotta step my pussy up!
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
$1.99 a minute is what you charge on a phone site, not a web cam site. I would raise the exclusive rate higher since it's a one on one show.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Starting high is perfect to my thinking because that way you start out building a clientele who has money to buy. Why bother starting low and building up a fanbase of guys who are almost broke?
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
I did raise my rates to 3.99 / 4.99 before I started camming on SM.

this.
I just got back to camming after 3 years and this is what i set my rates at before my first show. I'm still getting back into the game and relearning my previous skills, but to put it simply, this is my minimum. Once I get my client base back up and establish myself, my rates will go up, but for this work to be worth it, 3.99/4.99 is where its at for me.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Yeah. I didn't want to use my LiveJasmin rates on SM. I didn't have guys complaining at my rates especially with new model tag.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Technically you're not "raising" your rates if you haven't cammed there yet...you're just "setting" your rates. And yes, I'd suggest starting out with your rates at at least $3.99/$4.99.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
I set it at $3.99/4.99 when I started camming. I also agree with the ladies that say start off higher. You might not get the same volume of privates as you would at 4.99 or whatever, but they are right, you will start to build regulars that have the money to spend. The other day I actually got a "you're too expensive for a new girl..." I'm not even new. LMAO... SO you might get jerks like that but who cares, they're just pissed they can't afford you! :P
Edit:
Another thing, I have read on here from a few girls that one of the things they regret not doing when they started camming was starting off with higher rates!
I do want to add that I don't necessarily think that starting off lower means you're building a clientele of broke guys. Like I said I started off lower and 2 years later and 4 dollars a minute higher, I still have some of those first guys as regulars that have not bitched once about raising my rates. (I just feel like I should defend them :P Love my regs).
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
New girls are in a prime position to START high! Guys love new blood. Take advantage.
Your pricing should be based on what YOU want to earn. that could be split into two goals - your minimum goal which covers bills etc, then your high goal which covers all that and luxuries/ savings too. Work out how much you'd need to earn to make your high goal, average it and then split that by the amount of hours you can reasonably work in a day, and then divide by 60 minutes to get your price per minute rate.
Do not be influenced by how much others are charging. Guys become regulars because they like you and buy into you, not because of your prices x
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Put them as high as you can. If I would have known what I know now..I would have done just that. I just raised my rates again and will do so again in about 5 months. I charge 6.99 a minute for private and 7.99 for exclusive. Don't start at no 1.99 .....shit on that. Your worth a lot more then that.
Re: Is it okay to raise your rates before you cam?
Yes, starting high can work! I'm starting at $5.99/$8.99 on SM Might tinker around with my rates a bit. So far, I tried $6.99/$8.99 for maybe 30 minutes and it was so slow. I really want to charge over $6.99, but maybe I should establish my placement on the site before I go any higher. I was getting privates at $5.99 so that's my starting rate on SM, apparently... I'll be raising them as my placement improves!:)
