Books??
Hi! I read through a lot of the newbie forums and even tried the search function and just couldn't find anything and if this is already a thread I'm extremely sorry. Does anyone happen to know of any (good) books written by strippers, I've only found Candy Girl and that's literally it. Any others are just eroticas or have terrible reviews. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Books??
I saw one on an old thread called "Strip City" which is supposed to be good. Also "Diary of an Angry Stripper," I enjoyed that one.

Re: Books??
hi Pumpkiin,i read 'Strip City' and thought it was hard to read style of writing but maybe its just me,i also didnt click with the author's personality.i also read 'Girl in high heels' and it was very easy to read but boring story, too safe too, like the girl didnt want to tell us who she slept with for example, and was literally a virgin throughout her stripper career, but told us she used drugs,oh nooos lol.theres this esotieric book for strippers i'm interested in,but didnt buy yet, called 'Feng shui for strippers',supposedly helps you to make good money stripping,i'm yet to hear more feedback on that…hope this helps.

Re: Books??
You can also check out Tumblr for stripper blogs. They won't be novel-esque but they usually have some hilarious stories and/or tips for other dancers. Try searching for ClubPatron on Tumblr, he has a whole list compiled.

Re: Books??
You can try Stripped by Samantha Bailey :)

Re: Books??
I think Strip City by Lily Burana is the best one out there in book form. There are always a few floating around the bookstore and I feel like I've read all of them, but often they will be like 'oh I was just in college studying women's studies then I got side tracked and became a stripper for 3 months then felt qualified to write a memoir all about it even though I really actually know nothing.' Books like this drive me crazy. I think you can find a lot better written material about strippers by poking around on the internet a little bit. I wish there were more stripper memoirs, honestly.

Re: Books??
Gypsy http://www.amazon.com/Gypsy-Memoirs-...gypsy+rose+lee is good for historical perspective.
I'm working on my memoirs, but it is a very emotional and painful process. This could be why more dancers haven't written about their careers.

Re: Books??
Hi Tourdefranzia, I know of someone who is putting together a book of stories/memoirs by strippers. Only stories/memoirs by real dancers who danced will be included. Do you have a section of your book already written? Would you like to submit a piece of the book for publication? This is for real, there's a publisher interested. Please write to me at [email protected] if you are.

Re: Books??
Blatant self promotion, but I wrote this ebook about stripping. There are some contributions by Stripperweb members. It's free if you have Kindle Unlimited.

I agree Strip City is the best stripper memoir out there.

Re: Books??
Some favorites of mine:
Strip City (good for intellectual strippers who see stripping as more than just a simple job)
Flesh for Fantasy (college-level essays on the experience of stripping)
Jane Sexes it Up (only has one chapter on stripping, but is a fascinating read. Third-wave feminist essays that combine anecdotal experience with analytical writing on a variety of controversial topics.)
Candy Girl (funny, high-quality writing style that emphasizes the ridiculous aspects of the job without making a joke out of stripping)
Bare (intellectual girl working in the Lusty Lady in Seattle - I enjoyed her insights into the industry as a whole. She writes about peep shows, private-party dancing, and working in clubs.)

Re: Books??
Think like a Stripper by Erica Lyremark

Re: Books??
I'll second Bare by Elisabeth Eaves. Depends on whether you're looking for advice or just a story of dancing, but Bare will definitely give you some insight into another dancer's life (and you can pick up some tips along the way).
